Title: it's only a matter of {t i m e}

Nikkos bit his lip softly as he continued to kick around the black and white ball. He was the only one on the soccer field, though the fact that he'd woken up at dawn probably played a big factor in it. His handling skills weren't all that good, really. Not the best, at least, but he was a goalie, he didn't tend to have to run up and down the field all that much.
A simple navy t-shirt and darkwash jean shorts graced his lean figure, and his longish hair swished around his head, constantly falling into his clear blue eyes. Any observer could tell he was about fed up with brushing it away, considering the movement of his hand grew more harsh each time.
He sighed and kicked the ball down the field, but he didn't follow it this time. Instead, he crumpled to the ground, laying on his back to watch the slowly rising sun above him. 'It's only nine, and the place is swealtering,' he thought to himself, though it was rather hard to suppress a grin. It wasn't like he didn't care for the weather, though. It was much better than the freezing cold months of winter they got here.
Martina De Luca - March 26, 2007 01:44 AM (GMT)
Martina walked along the side of the soccer field. She was once again listening to her pink Ipod. Martina was wearing a pair of non-athletic sneakers that were black with pink laces. Her shirt was a purple scoop necked tank top. Martina had taped duck tape on the front and wrote "Thanks for the memories" along with hearts and other little doodles around the words. She was also wearing her near-black jeans (becuase Eilee doesn't think a skirt would work with the shirt xD). Anyway, Martina was listening to 'Thanks for the memories' quietly on her Ipod. 'I still don't know what I'm doing here...' She thought to herself. Martina had already thought about going home about 5 times. She had to call her friends, and each time they talked her into staying. After all, she had only left Texas 3 weeks ago. She'd only been here for less than 2 weeks. Martina sat down on the soft grass. Martina was used to the hot tempretures, but even she had to admit it was hot today.

Nikkos sat up as he heard footsteps approaching. He bent his knees to rest his forearms on them, the direction of his head turned towards the soccer ball resting a good many feet away. Now, normally, any other jock-type person would've spoken to Martina, and if said person were like Micah, he'd be hanging over her in a heartbeat.
But this was Nikkos we were talking about. The quiet boy that only spoke to a new face if he was acknowledged. So, instead of calling out to the girl that he heard coming, he continued to watch the unmoving soccer ball, silently and invisibly, if there was such a way to be.

Martina took a deep breath before scanning the soccer field 'It's probably too early for anyone to be out yet...' She stopped mid-thought as she spotted Nikkos. She cocked her head, wondering if he had seen her yet. Conisdering no one else was around, Martina figured he must have seen her aproach. 'Huh, wonder why he didn't say anything...' Everywhere Martina had been so far, people had been so open to her, when they saw Martina was new, they greeted her openly. Martina shrugged 'Maybe he's in his own world. I know what that's like.' Martina debated wether or not to go over and say hello to the boy. Notising he wasn't kicking the soccer ball around, Martina decided it wouldn't hurt to say hi, at least. She stood up, took her Ipod out of her ears and started to walk towards Nikkos. Unsure wether or not to call out to him, Martina just walked towards him, since he was on the other side of the field.

Nikkos looked up again as Martina's footsteps drew nearer. And, since he's so cutely polite, he stood up as she grew closer as well. He cleared his throat softly cuz Katie doesn't know whatelse to do, and.. yeah. His gaze dropped down to the soccer ball again since the only other things to look at were Martina and the grass. The grass was boring.. and he still didn't know if Martina was approaching him or not. Either way, he was still looking at the soccer ball, even when he attempted to brush his dark bangs from his face.

The closer Martina drew to Nikkos, the more unsure she was of what to say. What exacly does one say when walking up to a complete stranger? 'Am I just supost to say hi?' Martina decided that it would be an adiquit opener. And if she scared him, well, I guess that was his problem wasn't it? Martina had never been the most out going person in the world. True, when she was friends with someone, she was wild and outgoing. But when it came to making new friends, Martina came across as... well, almost meek.
Stopping a few feet away from Nikkos, Martina smiled and simply stated "Hey"
