Covington Academy
When you think of boarding school, what do you think of? Do you think of a
bunch of rich kids whose parents have so much money they don’t need to
go to public school to be with those who are not as wealthy? Do you think
script rules and a free ride into college? Most times you would be right.
However Covington is not your ordinary boarding school.
Hi my name is Raegan Shephard and I am a student here at Covington
Academy. A school that prides itself on producing some of societies greatest
citizens. They say they are a school that believes in values and traditions. A
school the prides themselves on rules and a set way of living. At least the is
what the brochure said. However Covington is nothing like that.
This school which once prided itself on being the best is slowly losing its
worth. It still produces some well adjusted citizens but ever since four
years ago when Mr. John Elsworth, who had been the headmaster of the
school for over fifty years passed away. Leaving the school to his
youngest daughter Carla, who could care less of the school. Well let me
tell you, this place is not what I heard about.
Kids seem to run more wild, the rules are less followed and the teachers
are no help. With no one telling them how to teach or what to do, they
are on there own. Is this a good change for Covington. Will giving
teachers the ability to teach what they want and how they want to teach it
make a difference? Will letting kids be themselves and not force them to
be the citizen you feel they should be make them more able to learn?
Or will this change be enough to run the school into the ground?
