Energy is an unpredictable force. Heat is motion is sound is light: both a wave and a particle. To anyone without a degree from MIT, it can seem almost magical.
Sometimes... it is.
Welcome to Alexandria, jewel of the Ohio River Valley. Located in the rain shadow (i.e. the dry side) of the Hopewell Mountains in Indiana, the land's a desert except for a two-mile-wide strip along the river itself, in which is nestled the city center, right about where the Wabash turns into the Mississippi. While the parched ground used to make the area a prime site for chemical production and even a little nuclear testing, an arts community has moved into the city and started setting up protection for the local wildlife. A lot of it, such as a family of ibises under constant surveillance by the Alexandria Birdwatchers' Society, has given rise to the idea that Alexandria was settled by Egyptian travelers thousands of years ago, which is certainly more exciting than the accepted fact that the railroad brought humanity to a conveniently fertile area.
But what really sets Alexandria apart from other cities, the locals say, isn't the wildlife or the scenery or even the world-class museums. Something about it just feels magical.
If only they knew.

Alexandria is an original RP about the possibilities of magic in everyday life. The board is named after the city in which everything takes place, Alexandria, an imaginary community somewhat similar to Santa Fe that's become neutral ground for the ten disciplines of magic, as well as home to a few more sinister forces. The practice of necromancy is popping up again on the East Side, whether or not local authorities will admit it, and the fate of the city and maybe even the world is in the citizens' hands.
Can the Houses stop feuding long enough to force back the encroaching armies of the damned? More importantly, can they do it without revealing themselves and their secrets to their friends, neighbors, and colleagues?
Well, that's where you come in.
Welcome to Alexandria.
