Wishing On A S h o o t i n g StarSo we've all heard our parents say 'high school is the best years of your life', right? Of course we have. But did they not experience university life? If they did then they must have missed out on something because although high school is a whole lot of fun, university is something completely different. It's where you have some of the best and some of the worst times of your life. When you finally move out and head off to university you become your own person. You get pushed to your limits, you work for what you have, and you meet people not only from your local community but from all around the world. It's here that you'll experience all the highs and lows in life, the heartaches and happiness. You're tested with every move you make, each of those moves a key point in how the rest of your life will turn out. Some of these students go insane with the pressure. Pressure to keep up with their schoolwork, juggle double majors plus a minor, maybe two. Teenagers go into university thinking they're going to be spoon fed everything they need just like they were in high school, they assume it'll be a cake walk to freedom and wealth and professional opportunities but oh how they are wrong.
These students are working their rear ends off to chase a dream they've held forever. At UofO all types of people are accepted. Some might be from broken homes, there on scholarship and some might be the richest people you've ever met, second to the famous movie stars littering the world's media. They will undergo every kind of pressure imaginable and while some manage to hold up, others will break and crumble like a cookie being squished in the hands of the devil. Sorting out your priorities and making your dreams come true isn't all it's cracked up to be. It's like being pulled between hell and heaven, one arm in the studies, lectures, and professors and the other arm in the parties, relationships, and freedom you've always wanted.
But here in Oceanside, university is a bit different. You see, Oceanside is one of the most beautiful places in the world. In fact, some people call it heaven on earth because of it's beauty, liveliness, and serenity. So naturally it's a huge tourist attraction. People come here at all times throughout the year to get away from reality, to relax and vacation. Surfing, sailing and basically anything to do with the water are the main sports here and because of this and the length of the clean beaches, Oceanside hosts about fifteen surfing and body board competitions each year.
Though the teenagers go into university acting as kids, they come out as adults. While Oceanside is still one of the biggest vacation spots in the world these kids not only have to undergo the frustration of being locked up for hours at a time studying until their mind's turn to jelly, but they do it all the time knowing that there's people their age out on the water, out partying to the loud music of the night on their vacations. And it's not unlikely for the university students to meet much of these holiday spenders. Unfortunately for them it's a struggle trying to balance their lives. Alot of the time it's either university or fun, not both. So what happens when the students meet the vacationers? What happens when they make friends with people that they only have a limited amount of time with? For the students it's time for school but they still want to have a life outside of that, and for those on vacation it's time to relax and party and have the time of their lives. Will the students throw everything away just to have some fun and let loose for a few weeks, or will they end up angry and bored with no fun at all? Or perhaps a few lucky individuals will manage to keep their head screwed on straight enough to balance both. The only way to truly have the best time of your life here at the University of Oceanside is to keep a sane mind, a clear train of thought, and juggle fun and studies the proper way. If not, you'll just be another victim to university hell. Here at UofO, they're all wishing on a shooting star that they'll not only get the education that they payed for to make their dreams come true, but that they won't have to turn into complete zombies to do it.
