His favourite coat, however, is a long black coat that he's had since he was a teenager. He rarely wears it if he knows it can get damaged but will wear it while he's on the road, driving between places.

overall || While Preston can come across as an overly tough kid, he's really a sweetheart through and through. His mom always taught him to be a good boy, and follow his heart wherever it leads him, and he's always tried to keep to what she told him. He keeps up the pretense of being hot-headed and stubborn only around people who he doesn't really know, or trust, but once he becomes a friend then he's loyal and kind.

Preston is in love with the idea of being in love, but he has never really fallen. He is well versed in puppy love and often gets crushes but tries not to do anything at all unless he knows for a fact that its reciprocated. He has a big heart and would love more than anything to settle down one day with a wife and kids, but he understands that his life and his job make that a current impossibility.

While he puts on an air of coldness (to go with his fake tough persona) it's the last thing he would ever want to be. Preston's memories of how cruel and uncaring his father were will stay with him forever and he would give anything to be sure he'll never turn out like him. He's actually a sort of shy man and doesn't like to talk at length unless it's completely necessary; his short, brusque answers can sometimes come across as him being in a bad mood or something but it's just not the case.

history || Charles Thomas, the owner of a successful toy company, was a playboy in his younger days. He spent many nights out on the town, using the money his father earned to buy booze, drugs, and women. Danielle Jacobs was one of these women but when she fell pregnant, she kept the baby a secret, and raised her son alone on the streets of California by any means necessary. After a run-in with a particularly vicious demon, Danielle and her baby boy, Preston, were thrust into the supernatural. She became a hunter and used various scams to keep the two of them in motels.

When Preston was 13, his mother finally went to Charles for help. Charles was the same man he ever was, despite his wife and ten year old daughter, and was happy to pay off Danielle a large amount of money if it meant he'd never have to see them again. Danielle put part of the money away for Preston under the name Thomas for when he grew older and used the rest to buy them a house somewhere safe. She gave up hunting to give him a real childhood and everything seemed to be okay.

Danielle's reputation as a hunter seemed to be one that she couldn't run away from, and she was ultimately killed for it by demons who wanted revenge on one of their own. Preston was spared by hiding out in a secret panic room built for occasions just like that but he often wished that he could've died along with his mother. He spent the next five years fighting in underground clubs to earn enough money to live, and hunt, and when his trust fund was opened on his twenty-first birthday he used all the money for resources, as well as some alcohol on the side.

Now armed with more weapons than he really knows what to do with, he's on the lookout for the demon that killed his mother. To keep himself safe from the demons who might recognise him by name, he took on his father's last name and became Preston Thomas.
