Title: Costume Class Ideas

Jumpshorsez - September 24, 2008 07:05 PM (GMT)
I may be riding in a costume class on October 11th (short notice, I know) and I need ideas just in case! I'll either be riding a LARGE chestnut mare or a slender black gelding.

^ from Fugly Horse of the Day!!

I saw this kid at State who dressed up his horse as a bathtub. He even had rubber duckies tied into the horse's mane. It was totally awesome. He had a shower cap on and a towel wrapped around his waist. He was blowing bubbles and everything. Amazing.

If the costume class has categories - say, "Historical", "humorous" and so on, you could dress up as Alice Paul, and have the purple sash and everything. Maybe even that scene from "Iron Jawed Angels" where the woman is riding with wings, and her horse is dressed for battle.

This is cute, I wonder how long it took to make the scales.

You should totally go all 1980's if you're on a budget.

Braid your horses mane and tail the night before, then the morning of (or after your classes.. hopefully this class is at the end of the day) take out the braids and brush them so you have that super crazy puffy 80's hair (same for you, too). Leg warmers, scrunchies, old sunglasses, bright neon colours, suspenders.. the works. Carry around an old boom box on your shoulder.

Holy sheep! I dont think our horses would like all that fluffy stuff on them. I had an idea listening to my ipod on the way home today...Black Horse and the Cherry Tree. I draw cherries all over him with twinkle glitter and wear brown pants and a green shirt with cherries drawn on it!

One time I was going to stick quarters all over my horse and claim he's a quarter horse. (Saddleseat arab. :P ) But then I got too lazy to even participate in 4H, so I never did it. I thought it was pretty witty at the time.

That is AMAZING.
I am going to beg my trainer for a mini-show day and have a costume class now.

Ok I'm riding the black gelding. I'll try to get a pic of him sometime if someone wants one

Wow. Those ponies have got to be saints. You can't even see the ponies (or the riders) in half of those costumes. Pretty sure Sharlie would have a fit if I tried to get her to wear a UPS truck.
