Sir Chukki what a difference he started 2 moves with 2 layoffs and 2 goals 1 each Lavery and Taylor..legend for 20 minutes

Well we certainly made hard work of that again. I thought defensively we were again excellent. Hardly put a foot wrong at the back and when they were through for a consolation Macca saved magnificently onto the post. It really should have been 4 or 5 tonight but we won in the end and that's what matters. I thought Gainsborough looked clueless. They were happy to just try and stay in the game, and even having gone one down, looked no more threatening. Lavery was MOM for me. Well done lads. Roll on Saturday.
Wyksie, you must have watched a different last 20 mins to me!

Nah,Ben,Wyksie's correct Sir Chucklestone did create both goals and changed the game when he came on.As you say it should've been 4 or 5 but 2 and a clean sheet'll do :D
Play on Hinckley,Hinckley play on

I saw 2 goals in the last 20 mins,
1st one Chukki laid the ball to his left to Andy Hall who whipped the cross in for Lavery to connect.
2nd one Chukki back heeled to Webster who laid the ball into Taylors path.
If it was any different to that fair enough.

Gainsborough are by far the worst of teh Conf North teams I have seen this season. Idrissa Allassane, the number 4, is possibly the worst player I've seen at this level since Lincoln Adams. He was garbage tonight, and the ball seemed to just hit him and bounce away rather than him clearing it. if the ball missed him he simply grabbed hold of a shirt. how he didn't get carded for either of those two fouls on the edge of the area I'm not sure.
Ben's right about Gainsboring being clueless, they showed absolutley no adventure whatsoever and were just happy to pack the midfield and do their best to stop us playing. It took us a while to break them down, but once we did they still showed nothing. It's telling that their first real dangerous play was in the last minutes when the ball came off the top off our bar and was cleared by Gidds. Apart from that, I reckon Mackenzie had more dangerous back passes than shots from Gainsboring.
Have to say, two well worked goals won the match. Excellent strength from Chukki to win and hold the ball before laying off and two excellent crosses from Cartwright and Webster respectively. I reckon Taylor was quite happy with his goal ;)
With Mace back from suspension saturday, DT is going to have a hard decision whether to bring him back into teh side and push Carts back to the left, or leave Taylor in and keep Carts at right back. personally I'd stick with the winning team for the moment.
wyksie - November 2, 2009 11:17 PM (GMT)
I personally would not play Mace for that one, leave him on the bench, Cartwright is very much settled at rightback and gives us confidence in that position.
Ben .:HUFC:. - November 2, 2009 11:55 PM (GMT)
Agreed that Carts must continue at RB. He gives the side an extra bit of confidence, but yes Gainsborough's lack of adventure helped the argument. Mace is still bedding in.
Chukki did have a hand in the two goals granted but he seems adamant on only using his body strength. He's apprehensive to run, and needs to be quicker in his decision making. He seems to have the potential there but I find him frustrating to watch so far! I still find it a shame that Ange never returned, for whatever reason. He was the sort of striker we needed to compliment Webbo. Quick, strong and quite possibly full of goals.
I can safely say it isn't the same sat in the stands guys ;)
In case I sound too negative...Alex T has looked revitalised since his recall to the first team :)
Idrissa Allassane, was he their huge left back? He was poor!
Lee's Zeke Rowe fan base - November 3, 2009 05:10 AM (GMT)
Really pleased for Alex tonight. He's showed us he's worth a starting place. Look at some of the games he's started this season. Stafford away was one of the best performances this season and who was up front? Taylor & West.
I'd also say leave Mace on the bench for Saturday. Rushden is a big step up for him and as they say, never change a winning team. Though maybe Chukki could prove a more foreboding figure if he starts?

and on that basis Lee and you're previous choices as who to leave out ;) I'd leave things as they were!!
I still don't see Chukki's benefits and he doesn't seem to be in the right place in front of goal. I'd also question his work rate in a team that has the 'work ethic' all through the team. The second goal had far more to do with Adam's work and bearing in mind his misfortune in front of goal last night, laying the goal on a plate for Alex sums up what an asset he is.

Chuki certainly divides opinion doesn't he? Comparing him to the man who's starting before him - Matt West - I would say Chuki has a better football brain. He is in the right place at the right time more often. Early in the season I would have said that he was working harder than West as well, but that seems to be the other way round now. West is also better with the ball at his feet running at players and the stats tell you he has been the better goal scorer so far.
I'm more worried about Webbo's dip in form. He looked a bit out of sorts on Saturday and last night missed two sitters. The fact that he chose to pass to Taylor for the second goal rather than shoot himself speaks volumes - those two misses have affected his confidence. I hope that he brings his self belief on Saturday and finds his top form again as he is a class act and even with his slight dip in form is still the first name on my team sheet!
I agree DT should keep the same starting 11 on Saturday but I won't be surprised if he reverts back to his first choice 11 with Mace starting and Alex back on the bench.

What is all this fuss about with Chukki???? He looks lazy, goes for headers half heartedly, doesn't pick his feet up to chase a ball, waits for it to come to him and then complains if it's not at his feet. Very overrated IMO. A bit like Carl Heggs used to be but Carl could put them away!
The two lay ons or assists were lucky accidents last night. He didn't do anything else.
The rest of the lads look really solid. Stewart Giddings played a blinder again. Good result though!

I think Chuckie needs/likes the ball to his feet, when he's played he has had very little feed to his feet it always seems to be a high ball from the back which he has to head on or try to bring down and control it. With the ball at his feet he looks a different player. Webbo's work rate is great but he seems to slide out wide to collect the ball.It was obvious at times kast night that with him out wide at times there was no one or only one to cross/pass the ball to in the area. Connor just gets better and better at centre back,he's not the tallest guy but makes up for it by reading the game well and his turn of speed. Macca gets better and makes the saves when we really need them. Watching the last 2 games makes one wonder what happened at Spartans .
Harrydavy - November 4, 2009 12:24 PM (GMT)
Agree with most of the above!
I fall on the not so impressed with Chucki but boy was West in a mood when he came off! Perhaps thought he was having a better game than Webbo!
Lav & Giddings were brilliant!
Big step up Saturday though!
Play on Hinckley!!
