Following a meeting with Adders chairman Adrian Burr on Thursday night, Fulford had to let top earner Matty Lewis and first-choice goalkeeper Dave Clarke go, telling the pair that the club could not longer afford to keep them on.

Six months ago I would have said sign Matty up immediately. Now he`d have his work cut out getting in the team :D

Matty`s a top guy; would love to see him back here where he belongs.

I'd go for Dave Clarke. We now need a 2nd choice keeper and Dave's improved alot since his last time here.

and pay them with what. If you read the story they've been let go because they're the top earners. We still have to sort out the HMRC bill haven't we. Priorities there surely.

Fair point, well made!

That is a good point. I couldn't believe the figures I was hearing last night about the likes of Brian Little and Luke Beckett. Gainsboring are shelling out a lot of money and they are the worst team I have seen against us this season - Kirkley & Pakefield were better!

Can see where your coming from and the point you are making. But what is a Big earner to Atherstone? If we offered terms to a player and he said no thanks, then we've tried. If Lewis & Clarke were on big money then that's Atherstone paying over the odds as sadly Matt seems to be on his down and Clarke has never been a number 1 keeper at any big club.

Problem is how much do you pay a keeper to sit on the bench? Cant see Macca wanting to give up his place anytime soon.As for Matty he just hasn't really made a go of it since being released by Harriers ,first with us, Telford, etc. He had back luck at Telford with the leg break but with the strikers they've had or have he was always going to be on the bench. Shame really he's a nice lad ,but I never was a big fan of his when we had him twice. But must say he was better the second time around.
