Title: Hinckley 0 - 0 Vegas of the North
DJ - October 31, 2009 06:57 PM (GMT)
Have to say I really enjoyed that game. One of the best 0-0 draws I have seen for some time.
Both sides played good open end to end football, and both sides completely matched each other. Both sides had good chances to win and both defences were solid and didn't make any unforgiving mistakes.
I was certain that both the chances in the second half were over the line, especially the second header, but it wasn't to be. Then I was certain that Webbo's shot was creeping in, but it wasn't to be.
Nevermind, it was a good draw and a well earned point.

Good game just lacking that goal, not for the sack of trying. Not a to bad crowd either i think.
Great to see Andy Hall getting at them, luck just deserted him.
Roll on Monday & that bit of missing luck, oh and 3 points.
Play On Hinckley !

One of the best games I have seen in ages and what a great advert for non league football.
Heres to three points on Mon night and stuffing it up the Judas Little , I have never forgiven him for his lying when he left Leicester in the lurch,

Was that when Brian left Leicester after he'd got them into the Premier and couldn't get any money or backing from the board and thus realised he'd taken them as far as he could and so left for a bigger club,Aston Villa, where he'd spent the majority of his playing career and knew he'd recieve financial and boardroom backing?
Very strange that you remember him being a 'lying Judas',Russ but don't mention the very, very good things he did at Leicester.Even stranger that football management can be the only career where you're not supposed to act in your own self interest.
I remember being at Filbo when Brian returned with Villa, all he got was abuse and thousands of people waving bits of paper with 'JUDAS' written on them at him.
Brian's a great bloke,wouldn't hear a word against him.
As for today a rather super display and probably the greatest 0-0 draw I've seen :D Attendance above average too.
Play on Hinckley,Hinckley play on.

I enjoye the game today also, we have some cracking players this year. I thought Connor and Lister were excellent at the back, but my only concen with the centre half pairing is lack of height. Saying that I thought Lister was MOM today.
Andy Hall was good running at the oppositin, Gooding has a great football brain and Webster works tirelessly all match.
Another great save today from Macca when their sub was through on goal and he got down to push it wide.
Gainsborough won today an will be full of confidence on Monday but I think we will turn them over!

As far as 0-0 games go, this was a classic. Also have to say what a great atmosphere the lads are creating with the songs and chanting. It really is a good season at De Montfort park. Let's hope for more on Monday night.

Likewise I`ve been concerned about lack of height, but Connor`s got springs in his boots and both he and Lister read the game superbly. Staly are quite a big team but I didn`t think they dominated in the air, although they obviously pratice corners and free kicks a lot How many Centre Backs have we had who have height but are way too slow to catch up when it goes over the top. Defo our best centre backs while I`ve been following HUFC, only Gavin Stone and Carl Heeley come close in my opinion.
From 1 to 11 (in fact on to 16, and manager and coaches) this is a very decent team, well done again to all the lads. :)

What has happened to Leigh Platneur? I he still on the books and injured or has he left?
wigstonknitter - November 1, 2009 11:56 AM (GMT)
Liegh comming back from injury i think, saw him at Cambridge City warming up with the lads.
Looked to be fighting hard to get his fitness up !

While driving back to Leeds after Boro's 6-0 whupping of Willenhall (worst team I have ever seen Boro play), I was listenign to 606 and someone text in saying what a brilliant game it was, a great advert for non league football and all that!

Was an excellant game for a Nil Nil score line .We didn't look out of place playing a team like Stalybridge, and I'm sure from where I was stood the ball cleared by the post was behind the line when the defender cleared it back into play. I spoke to Platts a few weeks back and he said after the back problems he's had they now think he has an hernia So I wouln't expect to see him back soon but who knows.

Twas indeed a great game,Hulla. The first half was fast but the second was even faster. It was undoubtedly made better by solid vocal support from both sets of fans-as mentioned by a director of ours and indeed Dean in the bar afterwards.
Aint life great when the local teams are doing well?! :D
Ben .:HUFC:. - November 1, 2009 04:20 PM (GMT)
Yep, excellent game. All in all I thought we edged it but how on earth was it 0-0? The ball just didn't seem to drop for either side in the final third. I said to my Dad that Hinckley sides of years past would have lost that 1-0. Incredible save from Macca and excellent away support from Staly fans. Was surprised to hear the attendance was so high, it didn't seem that busy. Looking at the league table, we are a better side than 9th place suggests.

Watch out for Justin Edinburgh and Michael Stone at your match tonight. We've had you watched at the weekend and they'll be coming up again tonight by all accounts.
We're looking forward to the match on Saturday.
stewson - November 2, 2009 08:54 AM (GMT)
One of the best 0-0 draws I have ever seen on Saturday!
I think Staly are the best opposition we have seen at the greene King this season too. They were certainly a lot more dangerous and creative going forwards than Histon last week who cam looking for a draw.
I know we're all thinking about next saturday already, but the lads didn't look like they were, every player put in 100% effort, committment and importantly - concentration on the job in hand. Let's hope that continues this evening against Trinity. If we perform like that, we should take 3 points.
