pinned at top of page Neil ;)

apparently we are onto a second coach now :)

Simon - October 27, 2009 07:56 PM (GMT)
For now I have suspended any more bookings on the supporters club coach as I'm still waiting to hear from a few who travelled on the Cambridge City coach and I only have a few seats left.I must offer them precedence,I'm sure everyone'll understand that.

I was considering taking a second coach but have decided not to now that the football club are running there own coach/es.

DJ - October 27, 2009 08:12 PM (GMT)
Coach War

Simon - October 27, 2009 08:30 PM (GMT)
Nooooooooooooooo coach wars mate :D Nobby,Dave,Ray and I discussed it on monday afternoon. It takes the pressure off me as I wouldn't be 100% sure of filling a second coach, therefore the club are taking the risk, hence the slightly higher fares on the club coach to cover any possible shortfall.
The cost of our coach is already covered by those who've booked ;)
I'd love us to do 3 or 4 coach loads but know there's plenty driving over there and am looking forward to see great away support on the day.
I'll be collecting fares at the Staly & Gainsborough games which'll hopefully mean I'll be able to 'relax' on the day and have a few beers before we depart :P

Play on Hinckley,Hinckley play on.

Lee's Zeke Rowe fan base - October 27, 2009 09:23 PM (GMT)
I think I'll join you for that beer ;)

PigmanRDFC - October 27, 2009 10:30 PM (GMT)
Come on guys, fill 5 coaches and I reckon you'll get the Airwair Stand opened up for you, always makes for a better atmosphere if it is, plus its the best facility in the ground.

Lee's Zeke Rowe fan base - October 27, 2009 10:50 PM (GMT)
Due to the bloody cup run and my superstition not to shave until we get knocked out of it, I've taken a picture of the hell I'm going through. Stewson is not far behind me I'm told.

Yeah, I don't want to be sat down :( I'd have thought/hoped we'd at least take 200. It's the first time in 5 years we've been this far!

Mine only started from laziness while I was off work - but it's amazing how fast these things grow!!

Hi Pigman,I've heard a couple of local pubs are putting their own coaches on so we could get the Airwear Stand yet :D

wigstonknitter - October 28, 2009 05:46 PM (GMT)
Been round Nene Park today as working near by.

Really hope we can muster up enough supporters to be moved into the Airwave stand as the view is great.

If we keep up the great run were on at the moment i think we could end up
with 300- 400. That would be a great showing from a club our size.

Don't knock the band wagon jumpers they pay the same & every bum on a seat helps.

Either way I'm sure we'll make a hell of a racket win lose or draw.

Play on Hinckley

Lee's Zeke Rowe fan base - October 28, 2009 07:42 PM (GMT)
My one hope from this cup run is that some of the people coming on the back of our cup success realise what a great club we have and become regular supporters. If the people who only come for big games actually started to come more often then there would be even more glory to hunt. If the club could pull in 600 home gates, the money would be coming in to help DT challenge for play-offs/more cup runs. I'm happy for the club to take the bandwagon jumpers money, just wish some would just appreciate how much more rewarding to is to follow their local side rather than put on their Man U/Liverpool shirts and watch their teams down the pub. Rant over :|

Rick - October 28, 2009 08:52 PM (GMT)
I rememeber at one of the cup games at Muddyfield lane when it was packed and some T***er behind me shouting out every 5 minutes to any one who could here " come on support your local team" whilst checking with his mate on the phone how some other team were doing . Never seen the guy at either ground since.

wigstonknitter - October 28, 2009 09:00 PM (GMT)
Here, here !!

I have a foot in both hinckley & Leicester city camps, But please no more bloody Leicester shirts, it's just a bit bloody sad or have they only got one coat.

When in rome etc.

All welcome, but play the game boyz !

Will we though? If we're seated then it'll be a problem making any noise.
I too think it's great when the bangwagon jumpers get on board. Like you all say, they can then see that we have a capable team, and the money they pay goes towards the clubs shaky financial situation. The win against Histon really was a massive result.

My last two away games, Telford and Southport, we had 25 or less supporting the lads, so it'll be nice to see (hopefully) a good few hundred in red and blue.

I don't have a problem with people supporting Hinckley and another team of course, but I have to agree it does look a bit sad to turn up to "support" Hinckley when wearing LCFC gear as a lot did at the Histon match.

I've got three Cobblers shirts and a jacket at home, but I wouldn't wear them to a Hinckley match!

If you're coming to support Hinckley - get in the excellent club shop and spend a few quid on a scarf (or more on a shirt!) :D

Rick - October 29, 2009 09:46 AM (GMT)
I've no problem with glory hunters jumping on the band wagon when we are doing well in the cup etc ,but please dont make out that you are there every week and how much you love Hinckley United ,to dissapear when the cup run is over.As Stewson says please no Leicester /Cov shirts whilst proclaiming to anyone who can hear how much HUFC means to you

JEP - October 30, 2009 03:13 PM (GMT)
Anyone turning up to support Hinckley United in any other team's shirt should be banned and subjected to someone pointing out to them on the way out what team is playing and that they really do need to get some kind of life.

It's obvious that anyone that would do so is an absolute Moron or living on the streets with only one shirt. In which case, ignore the above...

Anyone turning up to support Hinckley in a Scumchester United shirt should be laughed at....and ridiculed..even if they're living on the streets...

Ben .:HUFC:. - October 30, 2009 04:34 PM (GMT)
What a ridiculous suggestion.
As a child especially, the love of football comes from watching the greatest players. Cesc Fabregas, Cristiano Ronaldo, Fernando Torres...
Hinckley aren't even a full time team.
Don't get me wrong, I always turn up in my HUFC shirt, but to suggest that someone should be ridiculed for wearing another team's shirt is laughable. They've paid their entry fee just like everyone else, and so what if Hinckley are their 'part time team' behind Leicester or whomever?
There were some lads stood near us on Saturday that said they were only there because LCFC weren't playing, but they even started off some songs. The more that come through the gate, the better it is for our club, especially with the financial state we are currently in!

Lee's Zeke Rowe fan base - October 30, 2009 05:09 PM (GMT)
Chico better not turn up in his Downes shirt then :P

wigstonknitter - October 30, 2009 07:11 PM (GMT)
I think it's a great time to be a Hinckley supporter at the moment. Other teams shirts just seem say "I'm here, But I'm better than this" Just not very respectful to those who follow this club week in week out year in year out rain or shine home & away,especially@ this brilliant time.( I say this as newcommer of only 3 seasons & mostly a homer) Kids excluded, forgive them, for they know not what they do !

This is a great club, facility & very welcoming, something to be chuffed with(Winding up order permitting)

Lots of Red & Blue will make for great atmosphere+Simon(Away Shirt)+Chicco & Co.

4 points in three days will bring more followers Points make prizes

It is indeed a great time to be a Hinckley supporter, there should be a very good turn out at Rushden next week and with two home games in three days it gives us a chance to stake our claim in the league as well.
My hope is that some of the part-time fans become full-time and swap their other club shirts for ours.A swell in attendances would be most welcome.
As for people wearing other club shirts,it's up to them!As Ben says if you pay your entrance fee then bugger it,you can wear what you want.
Certainly one of my most memorable days was standing at a rain swept Rockingham Road in 1997 when we beat Kettering 1-0 in the FA Cup (they were in the Conference at the time and we were in the Doc Martens Midlands Division,2 leagues below them).Super Morton Titterton :D scored the goal with a diving header from a cross from super Nicky Platnauer :D I'd been following Hinckley (Atho) for 4 years by then but was wearing a Leicester City wooly hat.
Poor old Bernie couldn't find his Hinckley shirt before last weeks match as his missus had mislaid it,so he had to make do with his Liverpool polo shirt.
As Ian Brown once said 'It's not what you're in,it's where you're at'.
Keep positive must be the message,if we can add to the fan base let's add to it without question. It'd be fantastic to be able to average 700 per home game (I do still believe that's a realistic figure).
Hopefully we can continue as we've begun the season and we'll be seeing positive articles about the football club without the dreaded footnote of financial insecurity.

rodderschild - October 31, 2009 08:26 PM (GMT)
lets not get negative on the issue of shirts, its looking like we will take a good few to rushden not sure how many coaches going from the club but with a couple going from pubs and the supporters coach i think 500 is not unrealistic as like myself i know loads going by car to the match.as simon says who cares what shirts people wear to the game...they paid to get in might well have a pint/burger/chips/hot drink etc and the only one who benefits is the club so yes i can see people`s points regarding coming down more often but it happens at every level and hinckley are no different

mick hufc - October 31, 2009 08:53 PM (GMT)
I've got a spare shirt, but unfortunately it has a few rips in it :D :D :D

Simon - October 31, 2009 10:11 PM (GMT)
I think you could possibly weave a new one from your facial hair growth :D

stewson - November 2, 2009 09:07 AM (GMT)
Simon - just get selling hard on Saturday to everyone going on those coaches and make sure they're decked out in red and blue!

We're heading down in the car as we've got a full compliment of 4 kids this week and we'll have the car decked out in scarves and flags :-)

wyksie - November 2, 2009 11:07 PM (GMT)
their will be 5 travelling in are car, hope they have not underestimated the travelling fans

PigmanRDFC - November 3, 2009 08:38 AM (GMT)
I think I can speak with some authority on this subject, we've had our fair share of glory boys over the years, they come and they go - the only good thing about this kind of supporter is the cashflow they bring.

About 6/7 years ago we were playing in front of home attendances of 5,500 or so, sometimes more. Of that over 4000 were home fans, I think our current average is 1,450 with about 1,2/300 home fans.

When the Griggs money ran out, so did many of the "supporters" (or hangers on as I like to call them).

The only thing they are good for is their wallets and I'd willingly welcome them back for that reason alone - but the true supporters will always be there.

The shirt thing irks me as well, don't they realise how bloody stupid they look???

Errrm, if you turn up in droves (I hope you do) there is a 2,500 all seater stand in mothballs to your right that will be opened up for you, I think we'll fit you in :D . Making it a tenner could be a decent move, might get a few more along, but I'd be surprised if you brought more that 300 and if we had more than 1,100, my guess would be a 1,300 gate for this one sadly.

Ben .:HUFC:. - November 3, 2009 10:02 AM (GMT)
My only wish is that we are standing! This is non league after all! It’ll make for a much better atmosphere I’m sure.

PigmanRDFC - November 3, 2009 11:00 AM (GMT)
Its called progress sadly, luckily the home end still has a terrace, be warned though, our stewards are a bit "keen" when it comes to getting you to sit down :(

They have to be don't they? I'm sure there's a rule/law that requires clubs to make all reasonable effort to ensure fans' safety by making sure they are sat down.

All in the name of health & safety!

It amazes me how we all survived childhood without the H&S people interfering in our lives back in the good old days!! :P

Ben .:HUFC:. - November 3, 2009 12:37 PM (GMT)
Yeah but come on. Did anyone see the Blues v City match on Sunday? Everyone in the whole ground was stood up and that was televised on sky!

mick hufc - November 3, 2009 12:56 PM (GMT)
Just to mention that there is a no smoking policy in force at Rushden, question is are there any smoking areas for a pint and a fag? Or is the whole site, like Gateshead, non smoking?

PigmanRDFC - November 3, 2009 12:59 PM (GMT)
Different clubs tackle it differently and have different safety certificate requirements (strangely), people have been thrown out of NP because of persistent standing, just warning you, not saying I agree with it.

I stood throughout the game at Luton, when we played there before I had a steward in my face all the time telling me to sit down, this time they ignored it - guess you can stand and take your chance, but our guys are keen.

Inside the ground, no smoking anywhere I believe, good job too, dirty bloody habit :P
