Got to admit Giddins is a different player this season and his second goal was one for the books. Bring it on ,lets have a league club at the Greene King :D :D

thought giddings took his second very well and also thought lister came on and did excellent barely put a foot wrong. Leeds or Southampton at home would be good

Great game, great character, and a great result!

Fantastic effort from each of the lads, especially after the Blyth result. Shows how far we`ve come too when after the Histon goal we didn`t buckle.

Macca`s save with the tip over the bar was teh turning point for me, top class! Looking forward to Ball 49 tomorrow lunchtime now....

Any news on Cartwright and Collins` injuries? And what was the attendance? seemed like a decent crowd.

Come you Knitters!!!

first half was quite a dull encouter, I didn't see a shot yet we walked in 1-0 up. I missed their goal, it must have come very quickly in the 2nd half.

Our second half performance was outstanding, great displays from Lavs, Giddings, Andy Hall, Gooding and Webster who ran his socks off all afternoon but the save from Macca when the score was 1-1 was world class. That ball was dipping and ready to hit the onion bag until he tipped it over.

Good result, sorry great result and looking forward to the draw tomorrow!

PS Did any one else think Histon for being a premier league team were poor?

official attendance 778, not the figure that was announced, though still looked more than that. you know what official attendances are like ;)

agree with Neil on first half, it was tight and their defence was very solid, though it was also noticeable that they were very reluctant to commit men forward. Most of the play was in midfield, and i reckon we had two shots all half. however the second of those shots went in the net. :D

second half Oyebanjo scored a superb goal for Histon. obviously we will be critical of our team for not tackling him, but he is a very good player and it was a very good goal. he's not having a trial with Peterborough for no reason.

and then our drive and commitment took over. Lavery was solid as a rock. franklin never looked rushed or out of his depth. lister was calm and collected. even Dillon filling in at right back coped with a position he's never played. Webster was running left and right keeping possesion, and even though the two forwards were tightly marked throughout the game they were providing balls to those who weren't. Giddings second goal was worth the entrance alone. a superb move and great vision from Gooding to see him running in on the left, plus an excellent finish from Gidds to score the goal.

obviously Histon were going to throw everything at us in the last few minutes. and a great big thank you to Macca for playing today and making the saves he did in the final moments. the ball he tipped over from point blank range in the later stages was as good as a goal. and it ensured we went into the draw for the 1st round.

has to be one of the best games we have had at De Montfort Park since we've moved there.

Super, super, superb stuff.1st round proper for the first time at De Montfort Park.Just what we needed. After Histon scored so very, very early on in the second half we had to start again and,my,how we started again. An immensely magnificent goal by Stu Giddings-must be up there with the best goals scored at the new ground to win it,Maccas finger-tip save was nothing at all short of being perfectly perfect goalkeeping in action-'amazing' wouldn't start to describe how very, very good it actually was.Did we deserve to win?Oh,yes indeedy.Great side, great result, great times and great prospects for the club.

Bloody,blinkin',buggeringly beautiful ;)

Get in there :D

Play on Hinckley,Hinckley play on.

I stand thoroughly corrected. Sir Stu of Giddings will go down in Hinckley folklore. I'm still on a high, this was the best game since the move. Mackenzie's second half save was good enough for the premiership. Lister showed us that he really is a first class defender and should be one of the first games on the team sheet. In fact every player pulled off at super performance. The tension in the final 5 minutes was just unbearable. This is a day that'll live long in the memory. :D

I really don't care who we get in the draw, I'm just pleased we're in it after last years disappointment. Though a trip to Spotland would make my day :)
