Title: Saturday's line-up?
Lee's Zeke Rowe fan base - October 21, 2009 04:00 PM (GMT)
I'd go with Mackenzie, Cartwright, Lister, Collins, Franklin, Taylor, Lavery, Gooding, Hall, Webster & Eribenne
If anything, I think last Saturday will have helped get the players more focussed. Let's hope for a sizeable crowd to generate a bit of an atmosphere. Need to get Stewson on the drum from the begining. Not sure how many Histon will bring, anyone have an idea of what their away following is like?

No, no we don't ;) :D
We just need everyone to clap when they should clap, and join in the chants. The words aren't exactly hard <_<
Histon will bring around 100-150 I reckon

See from your proposed starting 11 there is no Giddings, is he out for any reason or just not in your first choice 11?
Lee's Zeke Rowe fan base - October 21, 2009 06:58 PM (GMT)
Giddings has been a good player this season but he does tend to go missing in games. I think Franklin would be stronger in his old position and have Lister/Collins at the back. Or Collins & Lavery with Dillon in the mid? Taylor out on the left with Chukki & Webbo doing their stuff up front.
JEP - October 22, 2009 07:24 AM (GMT)
Collins comes back into the team at Blyth and we lose 6-1. For me he's the weak link and if he's up against pace which I think he will be on Saturday he's in trouble. Giddings has been consistent this season and has got more ability to deal with higher rated opposition.
Team: Mackenzie, Mace, Giddings, Franklin, Lister, Cartwright, Gooding, Lavery, Hall, Webster, Eribenne (or West).. Subs: Taylor, Dillon, Collins, West (or Eribenne), Hamilton.

I would have Gids in from the start and have Connor in the centre - we have looked much more solid with him there. I wasn't there on Saturday onviously, but I don't think it's a coincidence that we lost badly without Connor and Macca to marshall the rest. I know Connolly made some saves and kept the score lower than it otherwise could have been, but did he have the confidence to bark orders at the defence like Macca does?
Anyways, I think DT will go with: Macca, Cartwright, Giddings, Franklin, Lister, Lavery, Gooding, Hall, Taylor, Webster, West. I would prefer to see Chuki on from the start, but I think this it what DT will go with.
I am more than willing to get the drum going and encourage everyone to chant and clap from the start. That means we need everyone in place before kick off and making a good amount of noise as the teams come out to get the atmosphere going right from the start - can we do that? :D

Hmm, I’m afraid I have to agree completely with JEP on this one.
Giddings should play.
I checked out the odds last night. They’re giving about 2.1 for a Histon win and nearly 3.0 for us!
JEP - October 22, 2009 08:36 AM (GMT)
Silly me. Forgot Mace was banned. Cartwright in at right back and Taylor on the flank in his place.

looking forward to saturdays game, hopefully the performance will be much better than that against blyth.
cartwright has looked slow at rightback in the last couple of games (cambridge and blyth), with andy hall not really offering much protection in front of him.
i would play lister in the rightback position to add more pace to the defence, with cartwright playing in front of him for protection.
this would allow alex to play on the left and give andy hall a free role alongside webster, where his pace and skill could be more effective than that offered by west or chukki.
my team would be: macca, lister, giddings, collins, franklin, cartwright, taylor, lavery, gooding, hall, webster.

Don't worry last week was all a cunning linguist er I mean plan to lull Histon into a false sense of security. They won't have learnt much from watching that match, as even the supposed best player, Mace, won't even be playing. Deliberate tactics by DT. A master stroke - or not.

you bugger, almost the exact words I've used in my programme piece.
have you been copying ;)

The reason I'd go with Collins is because he's our biggest player at the back. In truth I can't see Collins being here beyond this season. DT's never really replaced Gavin Stone. He's tried with Redmile, Woolley,Butler, McIlwain now Collins. Only Carl Heeley came close.
Ben .:HUFC:. - October 22, 2009 03:24 PM (GMT)
Totally agree with that statement too, except that I never saw Stone play as I became a fan after that. We've never had a colossus at centre half that was dependable in my time watching the club. Heeley as you say was pretty decent.
McIlwain came with a good track record and was recommended. He just always looked off the pace and unfit.

I prefer Lister to Collins.
Collins was caught out of position quite a few times at Blyth, and has been in other games too this season. Lister was the one to get subbed last week, but then Mace found himself covering for Collins when the ball went behind him.
so for me if they're fit, it would be Collins and Lister in the middle
HUFC Croft Fan - October 22, 2009 06:52 PM (GMT)
Agree with DJ Lister not Collins he was the worst of a very bad team last week. Neil at 2 and Alex 11 although Neil was very lightweight last week cannot see any other choice.
Lets get behind the lads on Saturday to show the part time fans that appeared at Cambridge that £9 is not bad value and worth paying every home game.
Simon - October 22, 2009 08:23 PM (GMT)
Agree with you,Mr Croft.Let's get behind them from the off and offer as much support as possible.Despite last saturday we know we have a very good team here and that this challenge is do-able,but we must be at our best.We may pick up a few new fans as well, which is always a bonus.
It'd be great if at 1pm on sunday, when ball 49 is drawn from the hat it's for Hinckley United.
Thinking about it,49 is my house number and if you add 4 & 9 you get 13 which is my lucky number and if you add 1 & 3 you get 4 which is how many toes I have on my left foot due to an accident whilst digging the garden in my flip-flops :o .
C'MON HINCKLEY :D
Play on Hinckley,Hinckley play on.

Yes stew I think we can get an atmosphere going. If everyone does get in one spot we can really make some noise for the lads. Come on let's make Saturday a good one. :D
mick hufc - October 23, 2009 10:53 AM (GMT)
Would that be the penalty spot then Lee? How about one location instead. This could be arranged the night before the game. I shall be behind the away goal as per usual. What about everyone else?
:P

I would just like to wish the boys the best for tomorrow as i will be on the way back from Majorca and will will miss the game (sh*t)

At the start of this thread I said about Giddings, nothing against Lavs who had a tremendous game but in my eyes Giddings was MOM
