Hey,
Do any other bass players here own the Ryuuzetsuran songbook?
If so, check out the bass tabs for Tokyo. I'm pretty certain they are incorrect.
but, I am using standard tuning. Maybe the tuning for the song is different?
This is what my song book shows for the main bass line:
-----------------------------------------------------------------
-------------------7----------------------------------------------
------7---6------------7---6-------8-------7---6------------------------
--0-----------7-------------------------0------------7-----8--8--8--8----
I think it should be like this:
----------------------------------------------------------------------
-------------------6---------------------------------------------------
------7---6-------------6---5------8-------7----6---------------------------
--0-----------7-------------------------0-------------7----8--8--8--8----------
Yeah, looks like the album version at least is played tuned down by half a note. I hate it when some songs are like that, since I'm too lazy changing the tuning all the time - and too poor to afford a separate bass for each tuning. ;)
The tabbing itself seems correct (when using the correct tuning), but the notes are all off by half a note - I guess it's the same for the guitar, too, and maybe the vocals?
Looking closer, it does say something about the tuning (「変則チューニング」= irregular tuning), and some "N.C." at the beginning, but I don't know what those are supposed to mean...
Dammit, i need to find out what those tunings are, because I bet the most of Ryuuzetsuran is in that tuning :\
Also, I wonder what Akko does for live shows. I've never seen her switch basses in the middle of a show, so I wonder if she just tunes really quick between songs.
Anyways, I'm gonna use this site to find the tuning
http://www.tunemybass.com/I notice on the music notations, many of the songs have a "C" on them. I don't know music and am just guessing, but maybe it means "Drop C"...
It's the only song that has the 「変則チューニング」, so it's likely that all others are in standard tuning. And that one appears to be just tuned half a note (one fret) down (Eb-Ab-Db-Gb), but I only played along for the first few bars.

They could very well play it transposed up by that half a note, i.e. everyone playing half a note higher than marked on the scorebook - it will all be in tune, and I doubt many people would notice the different key... ;) You could try playing along some live recording using standard tuning, to see how it is.
But at least the one on Gonbuto is played tuned down. Looks like she switched her bass, although the lights are so weird that it's hard to be sure - she has a sunburst-colored bass before and after, and a solid red bass during Tokyo, but they are almost the same color (and same model)...

If you mean the C on the bars after the key, it's a synonym for 4/4 (four quarter notes per bar), nothing to do with tuning. Usually the non-standard tuning is separately mentioned at the beginning of the song, since there is no standard notation for it...
Oh, she did switch her bass? I never noticed, I guess I will have to throw in the gonbuto DVD to see.
But yeah, she has a sunburst non-reverse Thunderbird II and a red non-reverseThunderbird II*, so she probably had one set to the other tuning. I also forgot that the gonbuto tour DVD is cut up a bunch, it does not contain the whole continous show, so you'd never have a chance to see here switch :\
*while only a few hundred in the 60's, Thunderbird II's that still exist sell used for several thousand dollars nowadays. I bet Akko has atleast 6 thousand dollars into both of those basses, maybe even more than that :o I'd like to find out how much she payed for them -hm-
