Title: Hatsuiku Status

Toptube - September 8, 2008 12:52 AM (GMT)
apparently before she hit it big as a solo Pop artist (thank god she is done with that shit now) before then she made a band called "Hatsuku Status". Shiina knows how to make a band, as she's recently shown with her current project/band "Tokyo Jihen". The noteable pick for Hatsuiku Status is the guitarist from "Number Girl" a then very popular rock band. Proof of Shiina's presence that she could seek a guitarist from a major band, before she was even recoginized as a success herself. Number Girl's guitarist is the lead guitar here, of course (seen here with a Fender Jaguar).

It is really wierd to see her play Mid-90's rock, because she is normally such a refined Queen. Its great though!

so here's the music. It suprised the shit outta me:

I am in love with Shiina Ringo. I really need to marry her.

*check the "Pimpoint" thread in the download area for a song by her that maybe you haven't heard!

I think Hatsuiku Status is underrated among Ringo's fans. The sound is definitely different for her, which is why I think it is hard for a lot of fans to accept. But I've always loved the early-mid 90s alternative rock sound, so I loved it instantly. XD I love how gritty the performances are. I love Ringo as a refined lady, but the rock star side of her is just as compelling.

haha, I realized I was a big jerk in this thread. I apologize if anyone's taste was offended when I insulted pop music.

and YES, this side of Ringo is great. I think FUKUSHUU from Variety was a nod to her younger sound. The performance of it in the Spa & Treatment live is really damn awesome.

Man, the drummer is so cool. Maybe I will marry her instead -hm-

Hmm...I never noticed before, but I'll listen more closely to see if I can detect any noticeable similarities between the two.
