Why don't Japanese bands ever F^#$ing play in Seattle?? Don't they know that I would TOTALLY fly down there to see them???

Primushead - July 17, 2008 03:51 PM (GMT)
Whoa. They're coming to Burlington.

I've never heard of them, and I won't be home at the time, but wow, no Japanese bands ever play here.

Kjetting - July 17, 2008 05:01 PM (GMT)
Its a cool band, I would love to see them some day.

Jerkface - July 17, 2008 11:26 PM (GMT)
I'll check em out in Florida

jigenbakuda - July 18, 2008 12:32 AM (GMT)
No fucking way, someone else besides me heard of tsushi??? I never find tsushi fans online. Well anyways I am a huge huge huge tsushi fan. I will go to maybe 3 of their shows (as many as possible). Well for anyone who never heard of them, please check out my fansite (crappy but has some decent info, with interviews by some of the band)The interviews are linked to at the bottom :)

http://jigenbakuda.bravehost.com/

If you never heard their music, please come to my youtube office. They are really really awesome, In my opinion one of the top bands live playing in japan now!

Cool, i will have a look at ur site =)

I'm a big fan, i remember the first time i've heard of them:

Going down memory lane ^^ ......29 March 2006

Me and a friends was driving around in this small shit town were we live (4000 ppl lives here ) We have 3 musicstations, 1 for old ppl, 1 for classical and 1 for youths, that mostly plays shit top 50 music.
And btw, norwegian radiostation NEVER play asian music, almost only english/norwegian.

So i accidently skip from cd to radio to hear whats on.
And there it was, the coolest song i EVER heard, me and my friend was like, "ume umai tane dekai, ume umai tane dekai" so wierd and cool. When the song stopped we were eager to hear the name of the artist, i didnt know japanese at the time so i didnt know how to put words together. The host said. that was suchimamire or somthing.
And i was like sushimamari sushimamria, said it over and over to remember it.
I said to my friend. THIS song, I AM GOING TO FIND IT, DOWNLOAD IT, and TOMORROW we must hear it over and over again. :=)

Back Home:
So, www.google.no, hmmmm tried many many things, but gave up.......what do i do? :(:( Well i wrote a mail to the radioshow asking about that cool japanese song. And minutes later i got a response with name and link to bands homepage :) 29. march 2006 03:38:06

On the homepage there were samples from their cd on mp3 1 minute long, so i burned them out on a cd, and the day after we were like:

"ume umai, tane dekai, ume umai, tane dekai, ume umai, tane dekai" driving around the streets all day with full volume, getting wierd looks from ppl :)

I was so excited about this new found, that i wrote a mail to Mari and told how great their music is, she even replyed to me, that was great :)

songs name was Umeboshi Plums and is today still my favorite one.

And still, this is the only time i've ever heard asian music on norwegian radio.

puh, long text

kenshin01 - July 20, 2008 12:22 AM (GMT)

medusanyc - July 21, 2008 03:41 AM (GMT)

i'm sold

i think they are great :)

Toptube - July 22, 2008 10:27 PM (GMT)
Yeah guys, this band is really pretty good. Their stuff is cheap too.

Jerkface - July 23, 2008 06:14 AM (GMT)
Got all their albums, instantly in love. Gonna see the shit out of them when they come to Florida. Their songs have really good hooks, I find myself humming it out later in the day.

medusanyc - July 23, 2008 11:28 PM (GMT)
looks like i can catch back to back shows in nyc and brooklyn!!

Toptube - July 24, 2008 04:29 AM (GMT)
Here's a link to a newer release.

http://mullemeck.serveftp.org/jps_beta/ind...etails&id=46096

It includes re-recordings of some of their songs and a couple of new songs. The quality of production went way up for this release.

While pretty much everything they do is good, I also really recommend Love & Peace & Bou.

* oh, and here is their myspizzle http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fusea...iendID=31259797

ahahahaha, oh man I need to meet these girls.

Jerkface - July 25, 2008 04:07 AM (GMT)
The plums song is really quality, instrumental and vocal both. My fav is Stupid Ex-Boyfriend, simply because the lead singer sounds cute as hell saying all those short phrases 'mou yada , unbakaaa' (sp? whatev!)

Very catchy stuff, and I like that a lot of their songs are really weird discordant shit. Is a good clash against the cutesy japanese female vocal

Toptube - July 25, 2008 04:56 AM (GMT)
Yes, I think they coexist nicely with "Kokesh Doll", who is harder and heavier, but less musical.

TsuShiMaMiRe's bassist makes some nice rolling bass lines :)

Endless - July 29, 2008 10:15 PM (GMT)
I went to their website to see if any dates had been added to the list. I saw a Detroit date and was excited... then I noticed the list was from 2006 ><

Detroit always gets screwed lol ><

Looks like i'm driving to Cleveland or Chicago!

Toptube - August 7, 2008 10:18 AM (GMT)
The listing has been updated for tour dates/venues in my first post*

Also, they've got some new photos up from a show they recently did in Japan:

Jerkface - August 13, 2008 03:50 AM (GMT)

Toptube - August 13, 2008 07:47 AM (GMT)
You'd better book one of them a place to stay, too.

If you know what I mean.

>_>

Oh yeah you know what I mean.

<_<

medusanyc - August 13, 2008 11:41 PM (GMT)
just a tad disappointed. the 2 shows in the new york area are part of a special show. there are 4 maybe 5 bands on the bill. i was hoping it would be TsuShi and 1 other act (similar to go!go! last august) so that they would play a full set. now with so many bands on the bill they probably wont play more than a half hour :(

I don't know if someone would like that -ui- -ui- -ui-

Primushead - August 14, 2008 02:50 AM (GMT)
The song Tea Time Ska was on that "Fresh Cuts From Japan" CD and it kicked ass.

I probably won't be able to go home to see them on the 30th (I'm coming home on October 3rd to see Buckethead), but maybe I'll take the train to NYC to see them on the 27th.

Medusa, is The Knitting Factory easy to get to from Penn Station?

medusanyc - August 15, 2008 03:54 AM (GMT)
yes, the knitting factory is close to the subway and getting around by subway is not difficult. if you are going to make it, let's make plans to hang either before or during the show.

Toptube - August 15, 2008 09:50 PM (GMT)
So jealoussss ;_;

Can't buy ticket online for the LA show... I guess I have to call and find out.

I'll post pictures of what they have. When I was there they have key chain. I told them I want 2 and they said they only have 1. I don't know if is 1 per show or they only have 1 in general... or they won't let me buy 2.

It will be crazy if I send you a picture of them with me in it, and then have you ask them to autographic...they will think I am the biggest fan! haha

Primushead - September 7, 2008 04:34 AM (GMT)
I'll actually be back in Vermont when they're playing.

They still haven't announced the location, but as long as it's not a 21+ show, I'll definitely go.

kenshin01 - September 10, 2008 03:35 PM (GMT)
sorry haven't have time to post what I bought yet.

But if I give you a photo of me and the girls... will you have them sign it for me. I think they will be very impress!!! haha.

same show. they changed before they start the show.

Primushead - September 11, 2008 08:30 PM (GMT)
They need to announce where they're playing in Burlington. >:o

Ah, never mind, they got it up. They're playing in some new place just outside of Burlington. Never heard of it before.

They don't have info about their show yet, but it looks like most of their shows are 21+....

They have one show that's 18+ so... here's keeping my fingers crossed.

medusanyc - September 13, 2008 02:06 PM (GMT)
i shoulda asked before. do you have a setlist or remember what they played?

yoi tenpo desu??
