no it's more like 45
Making copies take forever!!! Not making copies for Kelly... I'll just mail her the whole thing and have her mail it back to me when she finish making copies... -ui-
Yahiko - January 5, 2008 04:03 AM (GMT)
you'll lend it her to make copies?
lend or borrow? >_> in portuguese its one word
Dana - January 5, 2008 11:16 AM (GMT)
I think it's lend
but I always mix that up XDD
I'll probably get this from y!JP auctions and the price will be about the same. XD
vlumi - January 5, 2008 11:50 AM (GMT)
The shipping costs for the scorebooks is just ridiculous... around 1600 yen on HMV, and even more on Amazon.
So that's around 4500 yen, or 45 USD - but only under 30 euros! ;) Which is actually in line with the price of score books sold here in Finland. <_<
NaCl - January 6, 2008 07:36 PM (GMT)
I think I'll just wait patiently for someone who ships overseas to sell it on Amazon marketplace. That will probably take A LONG time though.

oh, looks like yesasia has all of the score books! I tried checking the other day but the site wasn't responding at the time...
edit* looks like they don't have the 569 scorebook, so I'll have to use the link I already found.

Camera broke when i crushed LCD but this is a rough interpretation
| CODE |
internet tab
-2------------------ - ----4------------- -3---4------1--------- -3---4------1-------- - ------------------
numbers on lines, with maybe like hammer ons and stuff like that on there
The tab in this scorebook is just the musical score but instead of
____ it looks like ______ \ \ \ \ O O 10 10
but there still lots of xuxaing lines everywhere and stuff!! And squiggles and things :(

They're right there, on both of the photos, too! Both the guitar and bass have two rows: notes above, tabs below.
I don't know about the blocks and X's on the guitar tabs, but the bass tabs are pretty clear, eh? I would guess the blocks on the guitar notes and tabs are just short hand to repeat the previous chord (to avoid clutter), but it should be easy to hear whether that's true
Toptube - February 23, 2008 08:51 AM (GMT)
I have no idea how to read those..."tabs"....

Well, in the books (and all other score books I've seen), the tabs include the note durations in their notations. But otherwise it's exactly the same: positions on the strings. So the beginning for the bass would be like:
| CODE |
G ----------------- D ----------------- A -0-0-0-0-0-2-2-2- E -----------------
|
Oh, there's a pretty good glossary at the end of each score book, but it's of course in Japanese. ;) The block on the guitars probably means strokes, and the X "brassing" (or something - ブラッシング).
Sadako - February 23, 2008 10:59 AM (GMT)
First I had no idea, too.
Well, this black bars mean you don't change the position of your fingers... I think.
The bars above are clear, like the bars above 1/8 music notes.
Hope this wll help you two -hm-
EDIT: okay, vlumi was faster =D

the X's are muted notes. if its like a whole chord, then its probably a palm mute. if its just a single string or something, then you just restrict the string with your fingers. it still gives a note, but its dead sounding. like the begining notes in
One by One by the foo fighters.
I'm seeing the end resulting tab you put there, but i'm not understanding how you are looking at what is on those pages and seeing THAT as a result. I don't know anything about reading music, so pretend I'm really dumb, because I am.

It's just the lower one of the two bass rows (Ba. at the beginning, and the one with the TAB written vertically), with everything except the four lines and the numbers removed. The string order isn't marked, but it's always like that: the lowest at the bottom. Of course, if you ignore all the bars and the durations, then you just have to get the rhythm by listening to the original songs, like with those internet tabs.
It was a little confusing to me at first, too, until I noticed that the tabs always have their notes (well, numbers) on the lines, and the number of lines matches the number of strings. In contrast, there are always five lines on the proper notes.

edit*
ok, I'm seeing the numbers.
so, now what? they only managed to fit like 5 numbers on that much horizontal space? each song must be SEVERAL pages then?

Well, that's how band scores are... ;) The 569 is almost 200 pages altogether, and only the 15 first pages or so are filler (photos and other info), the rest is scores only. The longest one is 3人のブギーマン (20 pages), and only えそらごと and できもの are under 10 pages.

take pictures.
for the score books, all we need to do is be able to clearly read the tabs/notations.
just put it on a table near a window so it gets a lot of light on it, then take pictures. much faster than scanning and you don't have to worry about bending the book.
If someone would take pictures of the bass tabs for Nounai Traveller, that would make me very happy.
