kenshin01 - December 15, 2007 05:30 AM (GMT)
I discovered this band in an arcade called Guitar Freaks and Drummania. Go! Go! have two songs in two different version. Actually Guitar Freaks and Drummania are two different machine :P

My friend Marcelol whos in the forum too showed me youtube links for Koi no uta and KInkyori Ren'ai .. it happened on 2006 october I guess  But some time ago.. about 2007 january/february I found a website with many songs for stepmania ... there was a lot of songs really so I searched for all the songs I had in my playlist.. when I searched for GO!GO!7188 it came out with Jet nindin! I loved the song ( <_< but the song had bombs on it while playing ) So I searched for the original version (yeah, the guitarfreak/drummania ver. are sung by other people) and thats how I started to download a lot of GO!GO! stuff from WinMX and Emule -ui- and I became a fan <3 but was very disappointed cause there were no places to talk about them on internet ( well I didnt find any ) so I created the forum on august :D

Is that the korean version that just play music with no voice?
Primushead - December 23, 2007 05:30 PM (GMT)
In some other forum, someone posted a long list of random Japanese MP3s for download, and one of them was Akai Sofa. It sounded awesome, so I searched for them on YouTube and found
this video and I was even more amazed. I went and downloaded their Best Of and I've been hooked ever since.

I randomly downloaded Manatsu no Dance Hall off an LJ music rotation site. (Yeah, I'm a new fan.) I didn't like the song at first, but after a couple more listens, I loved it. So then I went in search of more GO!GO! goodness. (Heh, I even got my dad into them. He's practically obsessed with GO!GO! and learned a bunch of their songs on his bass. Yay for recruiting!)
Yahiko - December 28, 2007 09:49 PM (GMT)
omg your dad plays bass thats so kewl
Ji-chan - December 28, 2007 09:58 PM (GMT)
Yup, and he plays guitar, too. (I think he has nine guitars? Or maybe it's eight. Only one bass, though.) But playing their songs on the bass is giving him carpal tunnel or something. I wonder if that happens to Akko or Yuu often, getting pain from playing too much, I mean. It must suck if they get that while in the middle of a concert.

My first exposure was also through Guitar Freaks / Drummania :D Jet Ninjin was just sooo fun to play! Now the machines have been "updated" and you can't play it anymore =(
After hearing the song, I got hold of the original, and as I was visiting ProjectJ (a defunct website that featured a bunch of really good Japanese artists, they also made me discover Shiina Ringo, Cocco, Bonnie Pink, Yaida Hitomi, etc), I sampled Aa Seishun.. and since I really liked what I was hearing (I found Ukifune around that time too), I asked for advice on which albums to buy on their forums... that's where I first saw Hana... and since then I've just been listening to GO!GO! a lot and buying their stuff <3
And to go back to GF/DM, now on the most recent mixes they have Ukifune :D But the machines that have those are not close to where I usually go so I don't get to play it that often... but when I do, I try to sing along !

yay... another GF/DM person! What do you play? I am ok with drum and suck with guitar.
zarya - December 31, 2007 03:30 AM (GMT)
I'm more of a GF lover... and I really miss all the old mixes ;_; I used to play both though, but I've always found GF easier. Drum machines were also easily and often broken so...
And there were some awesome jaw dropping DM players, so that made me a little self concious about playing that one ^^ The GF machine is always in a quieter corner.
I'm not very good, I don't go for anything higher than like 30 of difficulty ^^
I like to play pretty much anything except for the non-melodic heavy rock stuff (like all the model dd[insert a number])
I <3 Bemani...
It started out with DDR, of course, then we got the DM/GF machines around here. I also got hooked on Para para through the game, and I had the chance to try out PopNMusic, Keyboardmania, Beatmania, IIDX and Dancemaniax a couple of times.
The best thing though is playing in sessions with the GF and DM machines :D Guitar + Bass + Drum = GO!GO! recreated. But I don't think that's available on the mix that includes Ukifune/Jet Ninjin :(

For some reason, can't remember why, I wanted to listen to Japanese music. So I checked a thread about Asian music in the Swedish PC Gamer forums and saw a link to
http://www.project-j.org. Downloaded songs he/she listed as favorites from the bands that seemed interesting.
For GO!GO!7188 that was Aa Seishun, I liked it and decided to get the rest of their albums :)
I'd say it was about 4-5 years ago. Not sure.
I think this is how I discovered Shiina Ringo as well...
Yahiko - January 29, 2008 04:23 PM (GMT)
If I discovered GO!GO! by aa seishun I would not like them today >_> my first gogo song was kinkyori but knowing shiina ringo by shuukyou is a nice start :D
zarya - January 30, 2008 05:01 AM (GMT)
I wish Benoit had pursued project-j, it was such an awesome site for introducing neophytes to Japanese music. It made me discover Shiina Ringo, GoGo (convinced me to check out their beside Jet Ninjin), Cocco, Judy and Mary, Bonnie Pink, Yaida Hitomi, Youjeen (from the forum), the brilliant green, Onitsuka Chihiro, Chara, etc...
Yaji - February 12, 2008 02:46 PM (GMT)
actually I found out about them by chance at a mp3 download site, from their album Best of. I was so amazed after listening several songs like Tokage 3gou and Kamisama no HIMA Tsubushi that they soon become my favorite band, indeed Yuu´s raising voice tones plus Akko´s support hooked me up with them B) .

in the summer of 2005 the first group of Japanese students to ever visit the college I was attending----came to visit. (checkout that nominal clause!)
I'd graduated highschool a year prior which had included me taking 4 years of Japanese class, and by the summer of 2005 I had traveled to Japan 3 times. so naturally I involved myself with this group of visiting students.
one of the girls in the group randomly offered to let me borrow her CD wallet overnight. so I did.
that night I flipped it open and picked a random CD from the wallet. it was the second disc of the Gonbuto Tour Live.
so the first GO!GO!7188 song I ever heard was the live version of "Tokyo". with its bass line, I was immediately sucked into the song and knew that I had just found something special. pretty much every song after that solidified this feeling and I was hooked. I listened to that disc several times that night. it was so focused on it that it was the only CD that I listened to from the wallet that I'd borrowed (small regret, especially since the first disc was likely in there, as well as other good bands). I burnt a copy the next morning, returned the wallet that day, and then gushed about my listening experience the night prior.

Trip #1.
2.5 days in Tokyo. I stayed at the Shinagawa Prince hotel. while in Tokyo I visited Shinagawa, Shinjuku, Ginza, Tsukiji Fish Market, Takadanobaba (including walking around the campus at Waseda), Kabukichyo, Harajyuku, Asakusa, Shibuya and I visited the Kinkakuji temple.
from tokyo I went up to Mutsu city in Aomori prefecture. that's where my Highschool's sister school is. I stayed there for 5 days and visited my friends. this included a trip up Mount Osorezan. its a dormant volcano that once erupted. at the top are temple grounds that were built in the crater from the blast. smells like sulphur. there are practicing monks up there. we were able to have lunch with them. We also went up another mountain, atop of it were wild horses! they had a baby with them! I grew up on a farm so that was nothing new, but still cute!
from Aomori I went to Hiroshima and spent two days there. ground zero. ate some Hiroshima-yaki. that is some gooood slop. Miya Jima. Miya Jima is my most favorite temple in Japan. that place is wonderful.
from Hiroshima I went to Kyoto. spent 2 days there. just kicked around town, ate a "The Lockup" (rad place), visited Kiyomizu and some other temple that looked fake. seriously, It MUST have been a movie set, though it wasn't...
and I flew out from Osaka. unfortunately I was not able to go into the city.
Trip #2.
spent 21 days in Mutsu City during winter 2004/2005.
being in japan during that time is really great. I really need to go back to Mutsu again, many people that I owe a return visit.
oh, during this trip I also went to Aomori city for a day. it was really great. I bought 3 pairs of awesome pants there that I still have and wear frequently.
Trip #3.
15 days in Chiba at a friend's apartment (friend who had moved from Mutsu to go to college), specifically, we were in Nishi-Funabashi. just spent my time kicking around chiba. explored all over Nishi-Funabash, Funabashi, and Kaihimakuhari (aka Makuhari New City).
in Kaihimakuhari is a college named K.U.I.S. (Kanda University of International studies). I snuck into a whole week of orientation classes. I fell in love with that college and it is my goal to be a student there for a year or two.
edit* added Shibuya to places I went in Tokyo. I could not think of its name at the time I wrote this. also, wild horses, Hiroshima-yaki.
