My best friend loves manga, i really don't care one way or the other about it. However, I will browse the titles and what not. One title, Yonen Buzz, caught my eye awhile ago for the sweet music bands the artist liked. Plus it was all stylized and Nirvana was worshiped. It was cool...it reminded me of the 90s when music was still great in America.

The manga seemed more of a vehicle for Christina Plaka, the author, to show us her favorite bands.

Volume 2 caught my eye though. In one scene, and I basically screamed when I saw it, there was the album cover of Tategami. It was sort of hidden in a stack of CDs. You wouldn't know it was GO!GO! unless you knew the album. There was also a poster for the band I believe. It was a neat little easter egg that surprised the hell out of me as I flipped through it. I was mostly looking for more Nirvana pictures haha. I never expected a GO!GO! reference to be in it, since the manga mostly deals with the awesome bands of the early to mid 90s.

I decided to look through volume 3 in the store, to see if I could find another GO!GO! easter egg. Imagine my surprise when near the begining of the manga there is a band profile. A quick glance at the pictures looks like GO!GO!...then I see Nakashima and notice the picture is indeed Yumi. An entire page is dedicated to GO!GO!

So if you like GO!GO! and like manga you may want to check out this series.

Funny enough the artist is from GERMANY of all places. But loving Nirvana and GO!GO!...great music taste there.

I know Christina Plaka. I got her autograph in Frankfurt like, 4 or 5 years ago. LOL!!!
OMG I didn't know she's into GO!GO!.
Wait, and I'm surprised to read that her work was published in the US, too.

lawlz the same thing happened when I bought the first volume of Sgt. Frog out of curiosity, then was reading it and went "OMG IT'S HIKKI FIRST LOVE CD COVER :-O:

Then the Sgt. said something like "Isn't Hikki the best? A fountain of talent at the tender age of 16" or something.

Anyway I'll have to read this Yonen Buzz series.

this is old but I got the chance to read the first two volumes of Yonen Buzz .. I was excited to see the slightly hidden Tategami cover. she put a lot of detail into the drawing. SHE MUST BE A TRUE GOGO FAN OMG I HAVE TO CONTACT HER AND FORCE HER TO JOIN THE FORUM.
