Games are generally easy to play, but hard to master.

Pick up weapon and ammo, search for enemy, aim and shoot. Repeat.

Some tactics can give an edge, albeit by luck. My favourite tactic that generates a few extra frags is shooting rockets randomly - down hallways, across maps, into rooms that I only intend on passing by.

Yes, there is some danger in this (splash damage, or the lesser evil, killing an opponent plus yourself) but I feel it helps to mix it up, especially against the good players.

What luck-based tactics do you use?

ahhh the philosophical side of battle. I guess it depends on what style of game I'm playing but I like to sloooow it right down, I like people to play at my pace, especially CTF. It's important that I dont pop up where I am expected to be, I also feel the need to get a few kills in a row, it boosts my confidence and aim by a few percent so that I can face the next challenge.

I think the most important part is to predict what the other player is thinking, learning how each individual plays the game and be able to adapt for survival and then bringing them down to my level again.

Of course being under pressure brings out other sides of each other's plans, so it's impossible to stick to 1 game plan!

Everyone who's played me knows I take a lot of casual pot shots. Mainly just running past a hallway and shooting the SSG there in hopes of hitting someone. 9 times out of 10 it hits someone in a 1 on 1. In CTF it's not that easy. Although nearly as rewarding.

well said..that works best for bfg prediction..you gotta predict where the guy is gonna move next..and that usually comes only from..

1. hax
2. skill
3. practice

i usually shoot bfgs down the corridors..or rockets..plasma as well..thats about it..

believe me its much harder without hax

Well i just go in HARD KILL KILL KILL!! lol
it gets me killed more then anything but the odd ULTRAKILL keeps my score up :P
