Title: Red Eyes Gone
Description: Red eyes gone

It looks like Red eyes have been dropped. I am not sure it is fair that people will recieve 8 points instead of having to play them. When we played them they were 45 minutes late and we played them anyways... they only had 2 show up and we were throwing 4. Anyways I think we should go back to the begining of the rotation and assign points as if they were a bye week to everybody who would have played them... in other words keep the points for the first time everybody played them (unless there was a forfiet in there) and then assign 8 points the rest of the time as if it was a bye. Or just throw out all the scores for playing this team and give everybody 8 points instead.

looks like that is what they are doing... throwing out all their scores... Will are bars be credited back their fees they paid for that week?

This is a very old rule - as in, prior to me becoming a Member in 1983. The rule, capsulized, specifies that unless every team in a division has played a BYE team at least once, all teams in the division will recieve 70% of the total possible match points. Wednesday League playes 11 games, and that amounts to 8 points (70%).

It's definitely "fair", to use your word. Anytime you do the same thing to EVERYONE, it's fair. If it stinks, it stinks for everyone.
Your concern, if I'm guessing right, is that it isn't fair to the teams who had a chance to play the BYE team before they dropped. In which case, this plea is frequently dependant on whether you beat them badly (which is usually the case) or you lost to them (which doesn't usually happen in the case of teams who drop out - they normally are losing to everyone and that seems to help their decision to drop out).

So, if you beat up on the BYE team, you may not think it's fair to give up those 9, 10 or 11 points and receive 8 BYE points instead.
OTOH, if you only got 7 points when you played them, or less, then I'm pretty certain you won't find it fair when the other teams who didn't get to be beaten by them end up getting 8 BYE points for their luck in the schedule.

Neither of the previous two scenarios are fair - would you agree?
Especially if you get 11 points from them, they drop out the next week and no one gets to play them. How do you justify that as being fair to the rest of the teams in your division?
Not a healthy way to run a league.

My problem with the rule is that Why give any BYE points at all? If everyone is getting the same thing, why complicate it with some arbitrary amount of points? Just give everyone zero (0).
I think that's fair.

You don't pay for a BYE week, according to our policy. "Don't play, don't pay"
If a team becomes a BYE after you play them, and have paid your Weekly Fees for that match, you are due a refund that will be included with the payout check to Captains after the session ends.

I think we are saying the same thing... It is fair as long as everyone gets the same treatment... Thank you...

We killed them the first time 9-2 and I think we won 7-4 the other time... or 6-5... either way it would be about the same for us... What was done was fair...

I think the 8 point thing is good because it give you an idea of where everyone is...

team 1... 27
team 2... 22
team 3... 22

Who is winning? you wouldn't know cause you wouldn't know which team is down a week because they just had their bye week... putting the 8 points in there keeps the scores on pace...
