Title: What Does Joe Schmo Think?

Ok guys don't kill the messenger.

I was given a note to post on the forum. This guy wants to remain anonymous.

So the following is a quote from, shall we call him "Joe Schmo"
QUOTE
To Whom it may concern,

I am just an ordinary darter. I play one night a week. I consider myself a bronze player but I could probably play silver. I have been playing CDC for more than 7 years

I have come in contact with a few of the "officers, BOD's or whatever" of the CDC and want to know why some act all high on themselves. For example, they announce who they are and what they do for the CDC several times within the first 5 minutes of a conversation. You know what, the ordinary darter really doesn't care that much about how high up you are in the CDC. This isn't everyone "in the know" of the CDC. Its just a few and I believe a little humility would go alot further. I don't want to name names or finger point or any of that BS. I just thought this needed to be brought out into the open.

I wish to remain anonymous.

Recently, the BOD and Committee Chairs have been making an effort to introduce themselves and let the "ordinary darter" (as you put it) know who they are and put faces to the names. This is in an effort to let the "ordinary darter" know that their input/ideas/suggestions/criticisms are appreciated and will be taken seriously and with the same consideration as the darter who plays several nights per week. For many years, there has been a perception (whether accurate or not) that the BOD "caters" to the "Gold Darters" or the "Tournament Players." The current BOD, League Director and other Committee Chairs have been out there playing, visiting teams, and trying to get input from as many different players as possible.

Now, if someone is coming across the wrong way, please cut them a little slack, for now. I don't think anyone was trying to sound "high on themselves," they probably just didn't realize how they were coming across. The majority of the current BOD is fairly new to this, and its a learning process. But I do believe that some improvements have come from the BOD members making the effort to talk to all levels of darters and soliciting a lot of opinions.

Your comment is appreciated. Now that you've brought it to our attention, each of us can be a little more conscious of how we are presenting ourselves, so as not to come across as trying to be superior or patting ourselves on the back or whatever. We're not out there to impress anyone with a title, we're out there to make this Dart Club the best it can be.

Once again, thanks for your input and if there are any other concerns, please feel free to bring them to the BOD, we are listening.

Hey Joe Schmo,

This is from the By Laws, read section 1.

IV powers of administration

Section 1 The Membership is the highest authority of the C.D.C. and shall meet at least twice each year.

Section 2 Between the General Membership Meetings, the highest authority shall be the Board of Directors, which shall meet at least once each month.

Section 3 Between B.O.D. Meetings the administrative authority of the C.D.C. shall be vested in the President of the C.D.C., subject to the approval of the Board of Directors.

Introduce yourself back and then ask when a mandatory general membership meeting will be instituted on a regular basis. Then remember they are volunteering their time to preserve the by-laws of the club and do deserve respect for their effort.

Rose,

Many years is an understatement. My membership number goes back to 1987 and this perception existed then. Until there is a way to effectively seperate the casual darter from the everyday darter this will always be the perception. Keep moving forward.
