Description: PLEASE (i'm begging you) leave comments

First of all let me preface this by saying whatever we come up with thru this forum I still have to run all changes by the BOD and get their blessing. I know all the people on the BOD and i'm sure whatever we decide will get BOD approval.

That being said at the planning meeting this morning we talked about fees, formats and scheduling. we were all mostly certain that the current way of doing things has got to be tweaked. WE decided to suggest that fees be brought back to a flat $24 dollars per team per week. ($336 a session) We also hear the darters when they say they would like to raise payouts, and we will look into the raising of the payouts. One thing to keep in mind about payouts is that in the CDC now you only have to "beat" three other teams and not seven. This means that twice as many teams are getting first plce payouts. As for scheduling, the bottom line is
that we need more players and more teams to make localized scheduling easier.
the more teams you have in a certain area the easier it is. plus you can group people in certain skill levels easier too. We are not sure if we want to bring back the "Gold Silver Bronze" divisions because that causes such an uproar when a team is percieved as a "higher" skill level team. We think that trying to group teams based on players on the team and points earned each half is a little better way of doing things. So if we see four "all-star" players on a team that consistantly scored 120 points a session we would group them with other teams that score highly or have other "all-star players" on their team. Keep in mind that this takes time to do. We cant guess in the next session or two how a team is going to do, but over the long haul we will get them moved "up" into a more competitive division. You the darter can help with that by not trying to hide players or under-ranking your teams value. we really are excited about where we can take the CDC in the coming years, and with your help all these plans can come to fruition. Lets all do a little part to make the CDC a great orginization again.
As to format we discussed going back to a 13 game format for all leagues. maybe
11 on thursdays if people reccommend it. the 13 games would be as follows:
4-- 501 fido on mondays / 301 dido on tuesdays
2-- doubles cricket
4-- singles cricket
2-- doubles 501 fido
1-- team 701/801/1001 or cricket (corks choice)
this follows the former CDC format pretty much. everyone was used to it and comfortable with it.
As for scheduling we will go back to the 8 team divisions with as few byes as possible. we will go back to playing all 7 teams and then go to the other teams bar on the second go round as opposed to playing teams in back to back weeks as they did this half.
As with all changes there will be a little confusion but hopefully with the e-mail and the forum we can get the word out about the changes. We are also looking into putting out a small mailer that would also explain where things stand right now.
Not only do we need players and teams we need your input on these changes and what you the darter want to see on dart night. We are here to make thing the best for the darter. If you dont explain and let us know your ideas we cant make improvements. So please leave your comments here.
please bear with us and we will get this thing done.

The 13 game formats sound good to me. Will there be a division for best of three games?? I know there are teams (as in gold teams) that like to play best of 3. But a lot of teams not as talented prefer no best of 3. Any thoughts?

I like the 8 team divisions split in to two seperate divisions but everyone still plays against each other.

What about the team captain getting some kind of benefit (like a free year membership) if the captain fields a team for both winter sessions.

Just my thoughts for now biggrin

I think you were onto something with the graduated fees, the thing is it has to stop somewhere. What about keeping it as is but capping it as the $24? That way big teams that have no choice but to be big can still survive, but there is still incentive to have a smaller team and possibly create more teams. The scheduling HAS to be fixed so you don't play the same team back to back weeks. I'm SURE you knew that, but you asked for input, so there it is. My old team would love to come back and I'm sure we will be back next season as long as some of the financial issues are taken care of. The 11 game format DOES have to go as well, but you already touched on that. The top divisions should always play best-of-3 too, or at least make it home team's choice.

if this is done won't there be a travel problem within a division so time we already have to drive to far.
example there is a bar jimmy's place we play at danny mac's they are 2 minutes apart but dont play each other but we have 3 team's that are 20+ minutes away don't add up

Are the 4-- 501 fido on mondays / 301 dido on tuesdays singles games?

With this format your are creating more games but less roster spots. As I see this there are 13 games of 8 singles, 4 doubles and a team game which makes 20 roster spots. Currently there are 11 games with 24 roster spots. There needs to be more roster spots not more games.

no go back to the old monday format
people dont want more spots the new format is not good for the starter player
we are on week 5 and all you hear is you are not bronze make it were anyone can have a chance to win

The old format had even more roster spots than the current 24. I think the objective of a format should be to allow as many roster spots as possible without extending the length of a match beyond 3 hours. Lets face it were paying to play a game that can be played just about anywhere by just about anyone when we could be playing for free at any time, we just chose to pay for some sense of organization so we may as well get the most bang for our buck. I know I dont want to drive 20 to 30 minutes to darts then pay to play 2 games and spend my money in someones bar then drive 20 to 30 minutes back home, it doesnt make sense.
