Title: Youth Darts At The Ymca
Description: We need donations/volunteers
CDC - May 1, 2007 04:51 PM (GMT)
The CDC was recently contacted by the Greater Cleveland YMCA to put on a presentation/clinic for their summer camp youth on June 21st. Kids are the future of our game, if we get them interested young, it will strengthen participation in the future.
We are looking for a few volunteers that would be able to help with things such as transportation/set up of a few easels, assist with the presentation or assist one-on-one with the kids as they throw.
Additionally, we need donations of old sets of darts that the kids could use during the dart clinic.
If you are able to help, please contact Rose Scott at rose@darter.org or 216-313-0556.
Thank you!!

This sounds great! June 21st is a Thursday....will this be a daytime event? Also, let us know where the clinic will be held.

This is a Thursday afternoon activity for the kids attending the YMCA Summer Camp at the Westshore branch in Westlake. Unfortunately, this is not an open event, its a clinic we'd be presenting to the YMCA Summer Camp kids. However if this works out well and we do future events there, I will look into how we can open up participation to other youth.
In addition, I am looking into scheduling another youth tournament, open to anyone, tentatively on June 30th. I will post details as soon as I have secured a location.

I'm still looking for volunteers to assist with the clinic at the YMCA in Westlake on June 21st. If you are available that afternoon for a couple hours, please call, email or talk to me in person.
Also, if you can't help out on that day but have a set of darts laying around collecting dust, consider donating them to the cause. I'd like to get at least 5-6 sets of darts to use for this type of event, hopefully we'll do others in the future.
Thanks,
Rose

I'm sure I have a set or 2 laying around. Remind me before the ADO qualifier so I don't forget them.

I would like to thank the following individuals for their assistance in making the presentation to the Westshore YMCA summer camp a success:
John Madison
Ricky Konet
Gary Rice
Jeff Inman
Xanthe Phillips
Dave Rook
The group of 14 kids from 9-13 years old enjoyed learning how to play both '01 and cricket. All the volunteers did a great job in working with the kids and helping them learn the basics of the game. I really appreciate your help. A few of the kids even expressed an interest in participating in future youth events. Finally, a big thank you to Tony Neal for donating 2 sets of his old darts.
