So you are saying that just cos County had a good run at the end of the season they could challenge for promotion next year? If end of season form has a bearing on the following season then both Cardiff and Swansea need to look out!
At the end of the day there are plenty of teams with nothing to play for so they experiment for the following season. I will wait and see what players County bring in before I make any predictions.

COUNTY ANNOUNCE RETAINED LIST
Newport County AFC is delighted to announce its retained list of players for the 2006-07 season ahead of schedule. The club now has the nucleus of an able and confident squad. The club is in buoyant mood and has the stability it needs to plan ahead. Managerial team Peter Beadle and Scott Young will make selective additions to the squad over the summer months with the full support of the Board of Directors.
The retained list is as follows:-
Geraint Bater, John Brough, Paul Cochlin, Nathan Davies, Matthew Green, Craig Hughes, Lee Jenkins, Ian Hillier, Anthony Pennock, Matthew Prosser, Sam O'Sullivan, Andrew Thomas, Tyrone Toppar and Ashley Williams.
Negotiations are ongoing with Jason Bowen and Gary Fisken.
All players on the retained list have agreed personal terms with the club. Those terms remain private and cannot be disclosed.
I also hope Fisken stays, then we will be up there in the playoff positions, mark my words !
