Title: The County
Description: Manager sacked
county casuals - September 13, 2005 12:30 PM (GMT)
County has sacked manager. No real surprise, given back end of last year and start of this season. I would say John Corniforth is a good bloke but probably not a good manager. Fans have nt been happy with some of his decesions for a while. Why did board stick with him from last year, when he took a mid table side into the bottom 3?. Prehaps the board needs a reshufle. Walace Brown (general manager and county through and through) has resigned straight away, indicating some board room un-rest. Phew all this typing and not slagging off shite blueturds once, oops! :P

Lol)
Seriously though the County team should be good enough to challenge for promotion and should not be struggling. It is obvious that the manager was doing something wrong.
It will be interesting to see who gets the job. A former Cardiff manager maybe?

Corny had no knowledge of non league football, that was his downfall. Also played players out of position, a bit like Sven for Ingerland.
I say good ridance !
Who could his replacment be ?

TUESDAY 13thSEPTEMBER
NEWPORT COUNTY AFC ANNOUNCE THE DEPARTURE OF MANAGER JOHN CORNFORTH.
A statement from the Board of Directors reads as follows.
"It is with great regret that as a Board of Directors we have relieved John Cornforth of his duties as manager. The Club has had an extremely poor start to the season and, by John's own admission, the squad has under-performed, accumulating only 4 points from the first 7 matches.
We have not made this decision lightly. Newport County AFC is a community club and its stakeholders, not least the supporters, have a big say in its running and direction. There is always public expectation of success at Newport and the Board has been placed under considerable pressure to review the managerial appointment - given the poor start to the season on the back of escaping relegation on the final day of last season.
John was appointed as a young manager of potential and the Board had a decision to make - whether to give John more time to fulfil his potential with Newport or whether to replace him as manager. Regrettably, the Board felt that the latter option was in the best interests of the Club given our league position and the extent of supporter unrest.
Despite difficult times the Board has enjoyed a close and thoroughly professional relationship with John Cornforth. We sincerely hope that John is given another opportunity to prove his potential as a manager in the game. He leaves with our best wishes and on good terms.
The Club will announce interim management arrangements for its immediate fixtures shortly. We encourage supporters to show solidarity in their support for the Club at this difficult time."
As a result of the decision, Wallace Brown has, with immediate effect, tendered his resignation both as a Director and General Manager.

Weston Manager, Frank Mcgregon will be chice of many fans. He has done well in non-league football. Talk of Glyn Jones, youth manager and Jason Bowen joint managers. Jones is a good bloke, but Bowen doesnt give 100%. :o
Deepex - September 13, 2005 02:49 PM (GMT)
Bowen didn't really show any leadership qualities when playing for Cardiff so I wouldn't expect him to get the job.
Lennie Lawrence is currently unemployed Lol)

Newport's record against Weymouth HOME & AWAY
W D L
4 3 5
Last 6 meetings at Newport read 3 wins, 2 draws and 1 defeat to the County.
county casuals - September 15, 2005 04:08 PM (GMT)
Last year we beat them home 2-0. If I remember right, we scored a penalty first, then Carl Dennis Smith turned his back on there keeper, who kicked the ball out, hit Smiths arse and rolled into the empty net!! They will bring a few fans down ,plus there always seems to be a bit of needle between us. Glyn Jones in charge of game, respested by players plus County boy, might makes us worth a small bet at odds around 6/4 or 2/1.
