dementor: Lucian had sensed the differences between him and his sister rather early on. He was nine and a half when he finally inquired as to why she never seemed to get along with their father. Lucian had always stood in awe of Eugene Vaisey. It seemed wrong that Jada didn’t. She explained, as best she could, and poor Lucian failed to understand any of it. Why didn’t she like the Dark Arts? Why didn’t she ever agree with how the family was run? Why was she always so disagreeable?
Another party had been arranged for the following week. Lucian was stuffed unwillingly into his newly tailored suit and accompanied his father through the hall and into the main sitting room. Numerous families had gathered in the dim atmosphere, glasses of wine and brandy held loosely in their fingers. All Lucian had to do was stand quietly at his father’s right side. He wasn’t required to say anything or do anything unless specifically asked. He was invisible otherwise, a trophy in Eugene’s cold eye, and that was the way it always went.
But Lucian made the unfortunate mistake of testing the favouritism of his father. Jada’s words had looped through his head over and over again. If ever there was a proper place and time to repeat them Lucian had exceptionally poor judgement. Right then and there, in front of Mr Malfoy and Mr Nott, Lucian suddenly let the words slide past his lips. His father froze. Everyone in earshot turned their heads, frowns and scowls and looks of disapproval darkening their already sinister features.
Lucian was whisked away by the collar of his suit. Eugene could hardly excuse himself from the room properly nevertheless speak in comprehensible sentences when they were at last alone in the kitchen pantry. Without demand for an excuse Eugene had whipped his wand out. Lucian was left to cower in terror of his beloved father who was now a hero-turned-horrible monster in his eye.
Anything further of the memory has been subconsciously suppressed by Lucian. He knows he’s not ever supposed to think or say other than what his father has taught him to. His life may depend on it.
personality: Lucian’s reputation always precedes him. The entire school knows him to be of a very violent nature. Rumours and whispers of his cruelty have the first years hiding in their dorms before morning classes. Even the older students prefer to group together in the halls if they know there’s a chance Lucian may pass them. Of course, if possible, many people would rather avoid him altogether, students and teachers alike. He’s got a certain air of tension around him. Some people swear they can feel his malice from the other end of the hall – or God forbid they suffer in the same classroom. Slytherins, those who know Lucian on a personal level, seem to be overall unaffected by his malevolent nature. Still, whether they show it or not, they know it’s there.
Lucian has never been the quiet type – unless in the presence of his father. But for all those years of standing silently at the side of Eugene Vaisey perhaps Lucian is making up for his lost words at school. He likes to say what’s on his mind – he likes to shout it out, as a matter of fact, so that the entire Great Hall will know what he thinks of those horrible Muggle-born children. You can’t really keep him quiet; few know how. He just likes to make sure you know he’s there and he absolutely hates being ignored.
Lucian’s mood tends to be a little rocky. One moment he may be perfectly content on the common couch and the next he’s up pacing back and forth in the common room, stricken with the sudden, overwhelming desire to hurt something – or someone. He can’t control the surges of anger that wash over him every now and then. Four out of five times the feeling will die down on its own but there’ve been a few occasions were his lust for violence has completely taken over his senses. He describes it as a sort of ‘red phase’ where he has one thought on his mind that needs to be dealt with above all else. In those instances there’s nothing you can do to sway him. It just needs to be done.
Another thing many people have come to note about Lucian is his stubbornness. He will simply not do anything he doesn’t want. On the contrary, he’ll do absolutely whatever he wants regardless of what anyone says. If he sets a goal for himself he’ll follow through with it. His father has taught him never to let a job go unfinished, whether it’s a stupid homework assignment or punishment on a first year. The means of finishing, however, are sketchy. Most often he’ll have someone else write his assignments and essays – the punishment and cruelty, however, he takes care of himself. He’s often been in trouble with his professors and has had to suffer from his stubbornness in detention. Arguments often ensue around Lucian.
If you asked him to break into Azkaban he’d probably do it. Assuming there’s a plan to follow there’s relatively nothing Lucian won’t do. He’s a bit of a daredevil, yeah, but he doesn’t break rules just for the hell of it. There’s got to be a point to sneaking out after curfew, even if it’s for a drink at the Hog’s Head or whatever. Lucian can’t, however, think on his feet. He isn’t great at coming up with last minute solutions. Everything needs to be planned and timed out for him if you expect him to get anything done, but he makes an incredible asset to any force. You want something stolen from the caretaker’s office? Ask him. You want an escort into the castle at three in the morning? Ask him. Just don’t expect him to ‘play it by chance’ as they say.
And when it comes to love... Er, what’s that word again? Love? Yes, well, Lucian doesn’t really understand the meaning of it. He knows what sex is, and he knows what a girl is, but he has a difficult time fitting his feelings into words. He’d father not talking about long lasting relationships altogether thank you very much. He’s already betrothed to someone anyways, which takes most of the effort out of it. Now all he has to do is learn her name. Something else to note, Lucian happens to be a bit of a chauvinist... He expects a woman to cook and clean for him, to fawn over him, to admire him – the way his mother does to his father. That’s the type of house he was brought up in and that’s what he’s learned.
On a final note, Lucian would be nowhere without a leader to follow. He needs someone to take orders from – he’d be lost otherwise. Oh sure, he can think for himself but he’d rather not in all honesty. He’s just there to do the dirty work, really, and doesn’t mind it one bit. Lucian’s got a few screws loose, definitely, and he sometimes hears a few voices in the back of his mind but that can only be what’s expected from a murderer in the making. He’s just waiting for his chance to kill. To be quite frank, he’s a bit insane.
[ take a look back in time
parents: Eugene & Fabia Vaisey
siblings: Jada Vaisey, younger sister
history: Lucian was the trophy his father had always wanted. He was the grand prize in a marriage where great things were expected. On August the tenth, Eugene Vaisey had one son, one perfectly respectable, pureblooded son. Why not go for a second? Yes, well, the outcome wasn’t exactly as planned. Lucian’s younger sister was just about the worst award of all. It wouldn’t be too harsh to say that she was simply shoved off to the side. Lucian, on the other hand, had the entire stage and spotlight right from birth.
They were your typical pureblood family, very supportive and submersed in the Dark Arts and all that it entailed. Lucian’s mother always seemed to be supervising the kitchen and either hosting or RSPV-ing to fabulous dinner parties thrown by similar wealthy families of high status. Eugene Vaisey took it upon himself to bring up a respectable boy whom he could be proud of, and that was saying something because he couldn’t always be proud of much. Yes, he had money and a reputation, but both were meaningless if his family could not follow proper mannerisms. More specifically, if Jada couldn’t conform Lucian would have to make up for her silliness based on appearances alone. He wasn’t expected to say or do much of anything. All that was required was that he looked ‘presentable’ and act ‘accordingly.’
To his credit, Lucian managed rather well.
His trip to Hogwarts was an incredible change of life. His father wasn’t looming around anymore and his mother was no longer forcing him into horrible, stuffy suits. He was free – to a certain point. In his first year Lucian was a quiet boy, unsure of what to do. He was on his own for the first time in his life and he had absolutely no idea what to make of it all. The only thing he could rely on was the instructions set by the professors, and while he disagreed with most of them he was worrisome of striking out on his own. To rebel he would need a few good friends, especially a mastermind to conduct their schemes.
His sister’s non-Slytherin sorting was the final blow in their relationship. Lucian had been bred apart from his sister. He couldn’t even say he knew her favourite colour. While Ravenclaw’s school reputation was not necessarily as bad as Gryffindor’s, Lucian still felt a definite wall had been solidified between them for good. Now he was intent on seeing her as nothing more than another student. The only hint that he recognized her existence at all was the fact that he ignored her completely. While everyone else was a fair target Jada was off-limits on his hit list, most likely to avoid talking to her.
In his sixth year Lucian grew considerably – physically and, er... mentally? His thoughts turned to exceptionally dark places. His fantasies were gruesome and considered sick in society’s eye. In Charms he’d often day dream the time away, picturing the perfect torture technique of the person sitting across from him. He rarely spoke out in the early months, but by Christmas it was apparent that Lucian was much more dangerous than just about any Slytherin in his year.

anything else about your character we should know?: The use of his middle name ‘Ira’ will always catch and hold his attention. It’s like a command word. His father uses it to show his displeasure by using Lucian’s entire name. Few people know Lucian’s middle name. When he hears it being used he’s instantly reminded of his father’s temper, which often leaves him momentarily fearful and alert.
