| "Yeah. Yeah, I guess I am. I don't want to be tied down, it's seventh year, you know, I want a little more freedom, I guess." he shrugged, as if their relationship had meant nothing to him. Her heart sank. No, her stomach sank. No no, her heart flew to her throat. No still.. Emmeline was certain she no longer had any insides at all. There was a lump forming her throat that had begun to form the second he confirmed his intentions. She was shocked. Honest to goodness, completely shocked. Realizing her mouth had fallen open just slightly, Emmeline closed it to prevent looking like an idiot. He seemed to nonchalant! So completely lazy about everything they'd had and shared. She felt anger rise in her, something that rarely ever happened. "Tied down." She repeated with disbelief. Quote: "I mean, it was fun while it lasted right?" He saw a seventh year Hufflepuff walk by, and seizing the opprotunity, made it a point to check her out conspicuously enough that Emmeline would notice. "F.. fun while it.." She trailed off, her eyes watching angrily as his own pair of lovely amber hues traveleved from her pinkened cheeks to a moderately good looking brunette girl in Hufflepuff robes walking by. She exhaled through her nose very quickly, clearly very very ticked off. Who was this strange, rude boy that had replaced the love of her life? Quote: "So.." he stuffed his hands in his pockets looking at her. "Thanks I guess, for...you know, everything. You were really great." She tilted her head again, not quite able to say anything. Emmeline noticed her breathing increasing rapdily, her face now flushed with embarassment, anger and frustration. What nerve he had! She couldn't believe the words coming from his mouth. Emmeline thought just what his mother would do if she could hear her son talking to Emmeline this way. "I was really great..." She repeated, like she had done before with his other vague comments. Emmeline was having trouble thinking right now. She felt like her brain was working two times slower than normal. Without really considering this, Emmeline looked to her wrist at a small pretty bracelette Gideon had given her last Christmas. She frowned, eyebrows furrowed as she fumbled with the lock. Finally getting it free of her slender wrist, Emmeline thrust the silver chain into her "boyfriend's" hand. Fuming, the once happy teen felt her eyes sting at his harsh words, and uncaring behavior. "Merlin Gideon, if you wanted to break up with me, you should at least have a damn good, legitimate reason! I can't believe how much of an insensitive ass you could be!" Looking down at his palm, the silver chain resting there, Emmeline felt a hot tear drop down her cheek. "You can keep that. 'Remind you how great I was. Don't let that tie you down, now." With a teary and angry look up at Gideon, Emmeline shoved passed him, holding her forehead in her palm as she truged passed concerned bystanders -- clearly she'd been yelling, and it had been obvious. |
