Okay, so Lucian didn't usually hang out in the library. It wasn't his favourite place to be. Unfortunately most of the school's books stored on the dusty old shelves in here guarded by the school librarian, and if she knew that a certain Slytherin boy was creeping down aisle after aisle, nearer and nearer to the Restricted Section... Oh, Lucian was really pushing his luck this time. Behind the front counter was a list of names and pictures of students banned from the library in general. Three guesses whose name was at the top. Throughout his sixth year Lucian had been caught on too many ocassions with his nose stuck in a book not meant for mortal eyes. The shock of seeing Lucian with a book in itself was something else alright, but the selected reading material had caused quite a stir of tension amongst the staff.
But weren't there other students who liked to poke their noses between the pages of a Dark Arts Self-Help book? Fucking hell, of course there were. They just happened to be a bit more, er, subtle in how they went about obtaining their literature. Lucian's father had never given him a book on cruel torture or dark spells. He'd had to learn everything from the school's library, and even then it was only theory and rarely practice. Sometimes he'd manage to copy down a page or two and then, if luck was really with him, he'd find a smaller student out after curfew and use the unfortunate kid as a gineapig.
That was precisely what Lucian had in mind today. The library was quiet and the librarian was no where in sight as he turned down one aisle and sprinted past her desk. The Restricted Section was a little further down. He gripped his wand within his robes and looked about cautiously. There were few students making use of the library on a Thusday evening after supper. Everyone else had likely gone back to their common rooms. Perhaps the librarian was still having a bite to eat in the Great Hall, in which case Lucian's little excursion would be made a hell of a lot easier. Not that he minded the consequences of course - what was another detention, really? He just hated to be interupted.

Normally, the Library would be a safe haven for Tess seeing as how, if she didn't want to be disturbed by idiots, it's where she'll hide. Of course those closest to her would know that the library offered a mysterious aura for her, something that had always peaked her interest since the first year. Unfortunately for her though, tonight wasn't a night to be reading her mystery books... nope it was a night to finish that hell of an essay she had due the next morning that she had 'conveniently' forgot to do. 'Course Tess didn't leave everything till the last minute; at least she made an outline for it, so that meant that she would be able to finish her essay somewhere within the next hour or so before heading back... and even make curfew. Dipping her quill again, she sighed as she worked out the cramp that had begun to form in her right hand as she used her left one to rub her eyes clean.
Tess wasn't really a procrastinator but there are just some subjects that she wished didn't have so much writing in. For example, although she loved the class despite its dullness, History of Magic was the only she had that would require every single student to write at least an average of five essays per week. Granted they only had to be about 9-10 inches long, there was only so much Tess could read and write before getting a headache and throw her book across the room. As she glanced back down at her paper, she growled just slightly before crossing out another awkward sentence and rewrote it. It was then that she thought she had heard a slight bump coming from two aisles over that she stopped, blinked, and strained to hear the sound again.
Having been in the DA for the past few years, she had learned to keep her sense sharp and on the alert in case something bad was to happen. The fact that some of the students had wound up missing worried her because for all she knew her friends and siblings could be next. Although nothing extreme like this never happened before, it scared the shit out of them all. Then she thought she heard it again, Thump! Quietly getting up, Tess gripped her wand and tiptoed towards the sound. For all she knew it could be the Librarian but then again she also knew that the Librarian was also having dinner now and wouldn't be back for at least another half hour.
Peeking out of the aisle she was in, Tess glanced up and down before spotting a student looking either lost or suspicious... to her it was the latter. Clearing her throat just slightly, she held up her wand with a 'lumos' and addressed the person. "Did you need any help?" she asked although caution was veiled between her words.

Down one aisle after another, past books and books and more endless books... 'Fuck,' he whispered quietly to himself, 'What could everyone be writing about?' He paused for a split second and leened in towards the nearest shelf so that his nose was just about pressed up against the spine. The couldn't make out all the letters in the title with the library growing dark in the twilight, but it had to do with something about 'Simple Stunning Charms'... or maybe it was 'Simply Stunning Chairs.' Either way, it Lucian had proved his point. Half the books in here were useless.
He back up a bit and hit his head against the shelf behind him with a dull thud. Grimmacing he carried on down the next aisle and the next, seeing only one lone student hunched over a desk near the 'T' section. He could make out the Restricted Section sign now. It looked impossibly alluring in the shadows. How was he to resist? He tripped in his hurry to reach the section and swore at the untied lace of his shoe rather loudly. He wasn't a very subtle guy, that was for sure, and it didn't occur to him how much noise he had been making thus far... A light was suddenly cast upon him. Hearing the spell Lucian whirled around quick as lightning, wand out just as someone asked him a question.
Well, from the sound of her voice she defintely wasn't the librarian... Thank God. He would have hated to have been captured so close. With a sneer on his lips Lucian relaxed his stance and held his wand arrogantly, loosely, and still aimed at the vague girl before him.
'What the fuck makes you think I need your help?' he asked rather rudely. 'Think you'll earn yourself a badge of good merit? Why don't you go back to your love note or whatever it is you're writing like a good, quiet girl, hm?'

Oh great, I get the one with the attitude, she thought with irritation. Not that Tess had anything against whoever it was but, from the way the person stood and from the sound of the voice, she could tell it was a boy probably around her age with a wand out. And he thinks he's going to blast me to Hades too! Wonderful. She wasn't short of using her wand in defense but knew better to just gauge his actions for now for any later references. Narrowing her eyes just a bit, Tess tried to make out the house badge that might be on his clothes or even the tie. "Well excuse me, for wanting to help someone in need," she bit out. "Not that I need a good merit. And while my love note couldn't possibly wait for another day, I'm sure it could wait for a few more minutes while I ask what the fuck you're doing here."
She never was a patient or a 'think-before-action' kind of person... hell, her anger usually got the best of her that way. But with them being in the library in what could possibly be one of the darkest corners in the library, she was sure that the Librarian probably jinxed the place for any mishap. So that they could come in like a banshee and kick us out. Glancing around, Tess tried to see what could be of interest to the boy at this time of night. There were a shelf or two of muggle books that she was sure didn't interest him and then there were a few on Defense Against the Dark Arts, History of Magic, the life of famous wizards, the Restricted Section... "Hm, out for a midnight redenvous? Or perhaps your here for an assignment? Or maybe, you're trying to get yourself kicked out of school by means of the Restricted Section..."
It was annoying her that she could really see the face of the guy clearly as her light was making slightly hard but lowering it, she thought that he looked familiar in the sense that she knows who he is but had probably never spoken more than three words to outside of class. Although Tess was willing to bet that whoever he is, he was probably either stupid or just bored and looking for trouble. But as long as she had her wand at the ready, things seemed fine for the moment.

'I'll accept your apology if you quit asking questions,' he told her bluntly. She wasn't even a professor and here was this girl interrogating him, inquiring into his business like she owned the goddam library. Maybe she'd make a half-ass librarian one day, and such an image entailed nosiness, lack of humour and a severe case of believing in too much authority. Hell, had she just dared to point out the consequences of sneaking into the Restricted Section? Fuck. She really didn't know who she was talking to.
In the gloom of the aisle where the light of her wand barely reached, Lucian shuffled a few subtle steps back with his wand still raised. If she couldn't see his face he didn't want her to, and if she couldn't see his face chances were she couldn't report him for suspicious activity in the absence of the librarian. It was just altogether best if no one knew Lucian had been here at all, least he be put on one of those stupid tracking papers that needed to be signed by professors no matter where he went... God. Why couldn't people just stay out of his fucking business? The idea of it all was beginning to get him all worked up.
'Listen,' he snapped, 'I'm not asking any of your fucking business, alright? So turn the fuck around and leave me alone unless you feel like losing a limb tonight. A leg or an arm or your goddam head, I'm not picky.' He readjusted the grip on his wand in anxious delight. Lucian was always excited by violent situations whether the violence was really necessary at all. He was a bit extreme but that was just him and most everybody knew that from gossip and rumours.
He was hardly set on listening to anything she had to say to him at the moment. He was much too busy running through a list of nasty spells in his head, some of which made him grin at the very thought.

Tess scoffed and had to restrain a chuckle that had built in her throat. The had some nerve, thinking that she'll apologize for something that was his fault in the first place. He was the one who was sneaking around and disturbed her in the first place. "Me apologize? If anything you should be apologizing." She had half a mind right now to smack him into the ground but keeping her temper in check and seeing as how she needed to stay in the library, it was for the best. Glancing at her essay, Tess noted that she was only about half way through, so she was good for the moment, if not a little behind. "Look why don't you just go get what you need and leave." Surely a request as simple as that would be enough to process through his thick skull right?
It was almost like a cat-and-mouse game except that both were trying to avoid any sort of fight (well at least she hoped they both were). The fact that she couldn't see his face though made her wonder if he knew who she was maybe if she offered her name but banished that thought as quickly as it came, instead, when he shifted, Tess thought she had caught a glimpse of green on his robes. Not that she was at all sure anyways. 'Course the moment he threatened to tear her limb from limb wasn't his best choice of words. It made her sneer and her hand tighten the wand a little more. "I'd watch what you say if I were you. As a matter of fact, maybe you should get the hell out of her before I alert the librarian." He was fast becoming the bane of her existence and it annoyed her too much for her liking.
"I don't have time to play your babysitter, so get a book and get out." Dimming the light on her wand, she watched him and wished with her might that he would just do as she asked him to and leave. She never was one for fights but if the time called for it, Tess wouldn't hesitate to throw a good hex or two. Hell she'll throw her wand to the ground and sock him one if she wanted to. Not to mention the way he was grinning left her unnerving and on the edge. "Arsehole," she muttered to herself.
