Title: It's called a D-A-T-E

Raelin Lorcan - October 10, 2007 02:56 AM (GMT)
Raelin had no idea what she was doing here.

She didn't do date's traditionally, but she had relented because for six months she had to find a way to pass the time. She had agreed to meet Jake in the park tonight after work. Only because she didn't want him anywhere NEAR the building after the stunt he pulled the other day.

As she trudged to the park, coat cinched tightly around her waist she glared ahead of her till she arrived where they were supposed to meet. Her brown hair was twisted into a semi formal style and her shirt was a deep blue, her collar showing just under the scarf she had wrapped loosely around her neck.

Children played in the dimming light around her and suddenly her features softened, she wanted children...someday. A whole house full of children and their father. But then she remembered the conversation with Danae and her fae hardened. Even if she managed to get what she wanted she'd never really be happy...this job was all she had.

Jacob Hart - October 10, 2007 03:23 AM (GMT)
"Now that's an expression I'd like to see more often love." Coming seemingly out of nowhere, Jake stepped up beside her, following her gaze until it alighted on the children. "Ahhh. A soft spot for children? I have one myself. They're so..." He tipped his head, eyes a soft amber, contemplative. "Innocent?"

Smiling, he looked down at Raelin, stepping off slightly to the side to offer her his arm. "Shall we then?" He was dressed beautifully, in a pair of black slacks that fit him perfectly and looked tailored but not too formal. A white button down shirt with the sleeves rolled up to the elbows and three of hte top buttons undone, he was delectable. Yet over one arm, he carred a jacket, and he was wearing more formal black shoes instead of the boots he clunked around in.

"You look beautiful." His eyes crinkled when he smiled, not with lines or wrinkles...they just sort of half closed. Like his smile was so big and so genuine, it forced his eyes shut. And with his hair slicked carefully out of his face...it was even more visible than normal. "How do you feel about italian food pet?"

Raelin Lorcan - October 10, 2007 03:33 AM (GMT)
Rae shot him a glare but blushed at the compliment. "I don't particuarly care for children, but I wouldn't mind having one someday..." she shrugged as if it weren't one of the most important things to her.

"Italian? I suppose that's alright, can we walk around a little bit more though? I've been stuck inside an office all day, I barely had enough time to touch up my make up before I got here..." she decided to omit that she worked a whole two hours PAST what she had been schedualed for.

"Things are going to get ugly soon, I may not come home some nights, so please do not over react again and kidnap me..." she shot him an arched look.

Jacob Hart - October 10, 2007 03:44 AM (GMT)
Jake didn't miss a beat, slinking his arm under and around hers so that her hand was tucked into the crook of his arm as he gently pulled her into a casual walking pace. "I'd like children someday to. And don't worry. No more...stunts."

"But," He shot her a meaningful look, all the more potent by the lack of a curtain of hair to dim the direct contact. "If I get another call from one of your co-workers telling me that you've been there past your scheduled working time, I may have to stage an intervention." His eyes returned forwards, though they were staring up into the sky, letting his feet and his innate sense of balance and direction guide him.

"You know..." The words seemed to get caught in his mouth for a moment, and his pursed his lips, jaw working carefully as he struggled to make what he wanted to say...less overbearing. "If you ever need me to just...bring you dinner or something to work. If you can't come home. I can do that. Or sit with you. Or just hang around somewhere safe inside the office."

He glanced at her quickly before looking away again. "I mean...I'm more than just a housewife," he had given up on the house-man idea. He was teased anyway. "I'm a...friend to. At least I hope. I can be there for you outside of the house."

Clearing his throat rather roughly, embarassed at himself for finding this awkward. "I mean, I am yours for six months." That blinding smile again. "Make use of me." He nuged her gently, letting her know he was just teasing...but his eyes when he looked at her, were not. He was there for her. End of story.

Raelin Lorcan - October 10, 2007 03:55 AM (GMT)
Rae blushed even more at his words. She was so damned self absorbed she hadn't even thought about him just being there for her. Isn't that what she hired him for? Besides, she could just tell everyone that he was her lover and that he was worried about her.

It had been so utterly embarassing when he had crashed into the office (how he'd gotten access to enter was still beyond her) and then forcibly KIDNAPPED HER that she'd been slinking around the office for a few days now.

But she hadn't been angry...strangly enough she'd been flattered. Her emotions were confusing and annoying, she'd rather go back to the way things were before. Okay...no...not really...she just needed to get used to being with someone again. But she was still guarded which was why she did not answer right away.

"Alright well..I'll try to remember..." she said softly as her grip became firmer.

Jacob Hart - October 10, 2007 12:38 PM (GMT)
Jake smiled, enjoying the feel of her body pressing a touch closer to his own as she firmed her grip. "I'm glad." Was his soft response to her statement, voice almost dreamy .

For a while, the two walked in amiable silence. Something that was comfortable without being forced. Jake's thumb moved in gently circles on the back of her hand where it was coiled around his arm and held in his own hand. He was hyper aware of her beside him. The occasional brush of her hip, the movement of hair he would catch out of hte corner of his eye. The smell of her perfume that curled around him.

Softly clearing his throat, Jake weighed whether or not he should ask what was on his mind. It could bring up their rather...impressive fight. But he did still owe her an explanation. "So...Rae..." He pulled her a titch closer. "How did you find out about the whole...MSI deal?"

Raelin Lorcan - October 10, 2007 11:57 PM (GMT)
Raelin stiffened slightly, color flooding her cheeks agian as she remembered their rather...impressive fight. "Well, my best friend is the Head Resourcer and basically my secondary partner, she mentioned that your name was familiar and well, of course...things got a little hazy after that..." she shrugged.

"I'm sure we might have seen each other in passing if you were there only about eight or nine years ago, though I probably would have been too young to care, I was a rookie back then," she shrugged. She fell silent, she didn't want to think back about that time, it always brought up sour memories and she FINALLY trying to move past them.

"Besides I'm kinda oblivious to other people..." she trailed off.

Jacob Hart - October 11, 2007 03:53 PM (GMT)
Jake had been steadily inching her closer, until he wasn't so much holding onto her arm, but had his arm around behind her back, large hand resting against the curve of her waist.

"Don't beat yourself up." Jake smiled down at her, slowly steering them away from the path they were walking on, heading them back towards the sidewalk so they could slowly amble towards the restaurant. "I never actually made it inside headquarters. I was on the list. I trained by myself, trained my ass off. I wasn't going to wait for someone to tell me I was good enough...I planned on proving myself."

A small derogatory laugh. "Well, proving myself to my family. IT was their dream for me. But...." Shrugging, realizing she probably didn't want to hear about his sob story, he cleared his throat, giving her an unconcious squeeze with the arm looped around her.

"You feeling hungry yet? It was a long day for you at work wasn't it? The reservations are liquid. They know me there."

Raelin Lorcan - October 15, 2007 12:51 AM (GMT)
While Raelin was generally oblivious to things outside of her comfrot zone she was quick to notice that Jake was attempting to cover something up. However she also realized, now, that it was probably prudent for her to just let it go and wait for him to tell her another time. She silently congratulated herself on such a mature decision.

"Sure, I guess I should eat something," she admited as she leaned in closer to the warmth Jake's body seemed to constantly radiate. She liked Italian food, well any food really, Rae did enjoy good food and good wine and a good roll in the hay, however that wouldn't be happening till MUCH farther along in the relationship.

She had decided just that day that sex with this man was eventually going to be inevitable but she was going to put it off for as long as she could until she became more comfrotable with him hanging off and around her, perhaps month 4...that way she'd have two months of passion before she had to give him up.

"Do you like Italian all that much?" she asked curiously.

Jacob Hart - October 15, 2007 02:11 AM (GMT)
Jake felt Rae lean in and smiled. As much as she would refuse to admit it to herself, she was coming to truly appreciate him. And the feeling was mutual. Though he had been hired to combat lonliness, Jake was actually...refreshed to be something other than just a sex object. He was a person, someone to provide comfort and warmth and routine. Stability if you will. It felt nice. Jake was almost sad that there was a time limit attached to it, long as that limit was.

"Italian food? It's one of my favorites. But I'm not overly picky. I love Japanese sushi as well. I'm not picky about food, I just like GOOD food. If I have the money for it, why eat crap? No offense." Winking, playing on her unatural affection for the garbage he dubbed take-out food, he led her to one of the fancy restaurants that lined the main street.

Called the Villa Bourgeusa, it was a beautiful, romatic dining room style, with little private tables screened in by warm coloured partitions. Soft music played over head and each table was graced with candles. Catching the Matire D's eye, who immediatley hopped to and came towards them, gesturing for them to follow with a broad - genuine - smile aimed at Jake.

"Shall we darling?" He smiled down at Raelin, his eyes so soft. Like honey and amber, beautiful and warm and shining at her. Becknoning to her. To an evening of beauty and food and warmth.

Raelin Lorcan - October 15, 2007 02:25 AM (GMT)
Alright, so Rae had never really experianced an evening like this before, she was certainly more of a homebody due to her childhood and other things, or an office body if you will.

Maybe for one night she could relax enough to have dinner with Jacob and not think about who's body she was going to find in the morning or what paperwork would be piled on her desk from the previous day. As they sat down she looked around at the other patrons and spread the napkin in her lap. "You go ahead and order for me," she suggested as she finger brushed her hair again and folded her hands nervously in her lap.

To think that people could live like this and not give a thought to what lay beyond the light, was slightly sickening to her. However, she was a pessimist so it wasn't any wonder that she thought that.
