"It's changing out there. There's a storm coming and we must be ready when she does."

The year is 1974. Of what significance is that year? It's a year when the marauders and their allies and enemies attended Hogwarts school of Witchcraft and Wizardry. James Potter, Remus Lupin, Peter Pettigrew, Sirius Black - the original marauders and pranksters. They're always seen together, running around and laughing, or half asleep while copying homework off of the brains of the group - Lupin. Severus Snape, Lucius Malfoy, Bellatrix Black - evil? These three, along with the rest of the Slytherins often cause the other students to grow suspicious - curious of their true motives. Barty Crouch Junior, a young loyal Hufflepuff. What things will influence the badger to join the side he chooses? Only time will tell. Amos Diggory, Ludo Bagman, Gilderoy Lockheart - one of which turns out to be a dirty little liar. Then, there's Rowena Ravenclaw's house. Rita Skeeter, Sybil Trelawney, Xenophilius Lovegood. Quite the odd ones, no?

Though, it's not always fun and games, books and studies during this time. A three way war is in the making, and it's only a matter of time before it fully erupts.

"We all have got both light and dark inside us. What matters is the power we choose to act on. That's who we really are."

Tempers are rising and wands are shooting spells at the caster's enemy. Why? The rising war. The Ministry, The Dark Lord and his followers, and Dumbledore and his supporters. Students are picking their sides and turning against their fellow classmates. Fear is burrowing inside of everyone, causing panic and tension. The Minister of Magic, afraid of what might come feels he is losing control of the Wizarding World. The Dark Lord, also known as Voldemort, is building an army to take over. Albus Dumbledore, remaining calm, has a feeling something bad is happening and is attempting to also gather supporters and train others for what lies ahead.

Hogwarts also has gotten a bit of new enrollments lately, other than the usual first years. Who are they? Simply new students according to the other students attending. In reality? They're extra eyes sent in by one of the three sides to recruit members and gain information from the other students that would benefit their side. The big secret - they aren't actual kids. No, they're adults transformed into young ones so they weren't suspected. Kids couldn't be trusted for these types of things, they would blow their cover and aren't nearly as experienced; at least, that's how the Dark Lord feels. No one really suspects anything much from these kids, not anything drastic at least. A bit of suspicion is in the air though, wondering where these select students came from and how they just 'popped' into existence. Not many have heard of them, merlin, no one's really heard of them, but everyone is for the most part, preoccupied with other things to investigate. The undercover students - each side has a few of them, and are making it a top priority that their cover does not get blown.

One thing is for sure - the students are beginning to get on-edge. They know something big is going to happen, some even joining the side they support. No one knows each other’s motives and some are beginning to rethink who they trust.

"Your previous instruction has been disturbingly uneven. But you will be pleased to know from now on, you will be following a carefully structured, ministry-approved course."

Millicent Bagnold - the current Minister of Magic is letting fear take hold of her. She's noticed people changing, quitting their job at the Ministry to take up "another calling". It isn't exactly a good thing when the leader of the Wizarding World is panic-stricken, not at all. She knows she's losing control and is doing anything she can to keep control. Believing that Hogwarts holds the future's youth, and their decisions will decide the outcome of what is in store for everyone, Bagnold feels that if she puts it in their minds to do exactly as she says, the upcoming war can be avoided and peace will be restored. She decides on replacing some of the teachers and staff with one she feels will 'influence' the students with the right ideas.

Every great wizard in history has started out as nothing more than what we are now. If they can do it, why not us?"

Headmaster Dumbledore has been known to get 'feelings' when something bad is about to happen. Lately, he's been getting that feeling often. He knows something big is about to happen, and when it happens, it is going to explode. Dumbledore's approach to this is to train students and some adults for what he fears may be a war no one forgets. This however, is proven hard to accomplish with the Ministry entering Hogwarts and taking things into their own hands. With some of his staff gone, the task proves to be even more difficult. The Ministry has told Dumbledore that they feel the students should not be taught any powerful spells, incase they turn to the dark side. Dumbledore continuously tells them that students going over to the Dark Lord's side is inevitable and that they should, in fact, be taught powerful spells so those on his side will be able to prepare themselves.

"When a wizard goes over to the dark side there's nothin' and no one matters to 'em anymore."

The Dark Lord, known as Voldemort was previously referred to as Tom Marvolo Riddle. When Tom was attending Hogwarts, he was an intelligent boy, possibly one of the smartest in his year, and those in the years above him. When he graduated he was offered a high job at the Ministry. He turned this down, even though he had a strong thirst for power. He abandoned his Muggle name and took on one he wanted others to fear - Lord Voldemort. He decided he wanted to rule the wizarding world, but he wanted to scare others as he did it. He wanted to eliminate all who's lives he felt were pointless and deserved to die, and all muggleborns he wanted to wipe off the map. Knowing that he would not be able to accomplish this task alone, he began recruiting from all over. With the Ministry interferring and upsetting Dumbledore, he uses this to his advantage and sends some of his followers to Hogwarts for additional recruiting and an inside ear.

"What's comin' will come, an' we'll meet it when it does."
