Title: -It Won't Be Soon Before Long-
Description: Raelin
Greer Maddox - September 11, 2007 10:13 PM (GMT)
Greer walked into the lobby and stood completely frozen for a while. Long enough to take in the smells around him and the people and the world Raelin had seemingly chosen for herself.
Chosen? No, this was more like something she might have created. She easily could have sprouted this whole place directly from her mind, busy, buzzing but organized in a sacred sort of way.
Greer had dressed up, meaning that he had put a jacket on for once and had combed his hair out of his eyes. It had been some time since he came to Raelin to apologize, and he hoped that time had been good to both of them.
They'd had their moments. Not passionate moments... they'd been together in a sort of partnership, lovers minus emotions. They'd been in step, not love, but it had been something anyway. More than most men would get, because very few men in the world would ever get to touch the burning sun that was Raelin.
Now if only he could find her...

Greer did not have to wait long as Raelin breezed through the lobby clutching a case folder in one hand and a briefcase in the other. Her dark sunglasses screamed that she was in no mood to look at anyone so it was no surprise that as she turned to yell at a rookie ("Hurry up! Time is Life!") she ran straight into Greer. She of course, was hardly frazzled, only took a few steps back before catching her balance and looking at him.
"Who the hell-? Greer?" she asked lifint her glasses and looking at him. "Oh there you are, wonderful how have you been? Walk with me," she said as she strode past him to get to her office. She had just come back from lunch and had a TON of work backed up on her desk from this morning when Drake decided to pay her a visit. Unlike her relationship with Drake Rae did not dwell on her relationship with Greer, it was comfort when she needed it though and for that she could forgive him almost anything. Besides, he had such a nice smile.

As soon as Raelin asked him to walk with her, he jumped to obey. There was no arguing with that voice and who would want to argue, anyway?
Greer saw that Raelin was as in charge as ever. Moved in as much of a blur as ever. She never bumped into the sea of people around her, just moved through in her way. Greer, however, had to be a little more careful not to run into someone (big feet, big feet, why such big feet?)
"You look good. Erm, busy as always," he said, avoiding running into another person. "I haven't seen you in a while-" He sidestepped someone and fell back into step with Rae.

"Yeah well it's been interesting that's for sure," Rae snapped as she took her key off her neck and opened her office. She flicked the light on and groaned out loud at the mess that presented itself to her. "I need a fucking maid..." she muttered as she walked in and slammed her briefcase down. Ever since Drake left that morning she'd not been in the happiest of moods. Luckily for her, she had dinner with Danae tonight.
"So what brings you here Greer, I don's usually see you here in Headquarters, are you enjoying your job at the library?" she asked wihout looking up, quickly going through random stacks and folders. "God I'll be here all night again just cleaning this mess up!" she sighed.
Greer Maddox - September 18, 2007 05:53 PM (GMT)
Greer bent and picked up a few things, expertly stacking them. If there was one thing he was good at, it was organizing. To the point of being OCD about it. He picked up a few more things and stacked them on the desk and then smiled.
"Yes. At the library. I like the job." He nearly slapped himself in the forehead. He had to make eight words into three sentences (easier to swallow that way? Easier to say? Geesh)
Greer picked up some more papers and folders and stacked them, edge to edge, corner to corner, and put them on the desk. Raelin definitely seemed angry, frustrated, agitated... something...
"You okay?" he asked finally.
Raelin Lorcan - September 19, 2007 01:55 AM (GMT)
Raelin looked up suddenly as if Greer had just said something totally out of character. "Of course, never better, just got back from the training grounds. Got to work out all my agression," she shrugged as she turned and knocked over the pile that Greer just made. "Where did that come from?" she said in confusment as the papers drifted towards the ground.
"So what have you been up to lately Greer dear, have you met anyone nice yet or made any new friends?" she didn't really care, but Greer was always nice to have around just so she could pretend to have a decent conversation with a guy who hated talking, figure that one out.
Greer Maddox - September 20, 2007 09:58 PM (GMT)
Greer watched the papers float back to the floor and had to smile a little. He picked them back up, put them on the desk and put his hands in his pocket. "Yes, I met a woman with shadows all over her. That was interesting."
He looked at her posture and sighed. "Your agression's fine. Tell them you already bumped off one coworker. You've done your quota for the day," he said quietly with another little smile. He didn't say things like that out loud often except around Raelin.
Raelin Lorcan - September 30, 2007 05:51 PM (GMT)
"Shadows? Really??" Raelin turned towards Greer with a very confused look. "Like...they were surrounding her or she cast alot of shadows??" she prompted him. This was odd, she'd never heard of THAT particular ailment before, if it even was an ailment.
"Your agression's fine. Tell them you already bumped off one coworker. You've done your quota for the day."
Rae laughed out loud a little but it died a swift and painful death as she cleared her throat to rid herself of the tickle it left behind. "I should start telling people that, they might leave me alone..." she pulled out a huge file and dropped it on the desk. "I hate vampires...except for Marcus..." she added as an afterthought.
The file was dusty and as thick as the new intern down the hall, alright maybe that was a bad analogy since she meant it in the way of stupid however the file was just large, so it could be like Manny in the cafeteria...but she rather liked Manny, he gave her chocolate...oh ALRIGHT! The file was huge and had nothing to do with the intern or Manny.
"What else have you been doing? I know you wanted to start rewriting some of those old books, how's that coming along?" she asked as she opened the file and began sifting through the pages.

Greer stood patiently and quietly, knowing Raelin always had a million things on her mind and even more things hidden just below the surface.
"The books... I've been rewriting them, yes. Some of the older ones especially, the ones I knew the best. I'm finding other people who remember the other books to help me. Bradbury predicted this you know."
Greer shrugged a little, wondering if maybe he should leave Raelin to her work. He certainly didn't want to be a bother, not after their history, not after everything...
