The Fight

In lunch, everyone had a table. No mixing, no verity, no life. Jessica’s school was like a puzzle, everything had to fit right or else it didn’t belong. The puzzle pieces that didn’t fit everywhere, where outcasts. That was something you didn’t want to be.
In the front of the long and skinny lunchroom, there was the Suck-ups. The table next to them was the Wannabes. Behind the Suck-ups there was the Whores. Across from them was the Druggy’s. Behind the Whores was the Geeks. Then next to them, was the Freaks. The very last tables where pushed together, so it was a long table, in which the cheerleaders sat on one side, and The Jocks sat on the other side. Jessica, Jake, Gin, and Mike sat intermingling with the Jock side. Never really tried to make contact to the cheerleaders, unless they started something with them.
The cheerleaders weren’t the type of girls to get their fingernails dirty, but Jessica and Gin where. If someone felt the need to fight them, they were always there. Jessica always had Gin’s back, and Gin always had Jessica’s. It was always a win-win situation.
Everyone was sitting at lunch, minding their own business.
“Dude, did you hear about Robin? I heard he got in a fight with some Junior and kicked the guys ass! Then he got suspended,” Tony, a friend of Jakes, and the Quarterback of the football team said. He was directing the statement to Jake, who was stunned at what his little brother did. He had pride and anger in his eyes, as he left the table walking to the office. He slid through the door ramming in to boxes and other things he didn’t think belonged in an office. The front office clerk was not there, so he took his chance. He walked over to a sophomore student, that looked almost dead on to him.
“Hey bro! You heard, didn’t you? If only you were there. I kicked his ass too. He’s in the hospital. A broken nose I think. He deserved it though. He was messing around with Kelly. He knew we were dating, but he still did it. He was a big guy too. On the football team. It was re____,” the sophomore boy said.
“Robin, this is bad! Your suspended. I’m in charge of you, and you are taking advantage of it!! You need to watch yourself. It’s bad enough that I have to cover up for you, when the social worker comes to see how your family life is going, but now it’s going to be harder. I’ll have to do this shit all over again!” Jake cut him off.
“I’m not going back to that Foster Care shit. No way. Those people look at me like I am some bad kid.”
“Then stop getting in trouble!”
The front office clerk came out from the back room looking at Jake.
“Hi, I’m Jake, Robin’s older brother,” Jake said
“Oh, hello. Yes, are you here to take Robin home?” the front office clerk said.
“Yes I am. How long do you think he will be out of school for?”
“Five days. And, the sign-out form is here.” Jake signed the sheet and walked to the door, with Robin right behind him.

From the lunchroom window, Jessica could see Jake and Robin leaving, so she decided she needed to see what was up. Gin and Mike followed her to the front door. None of the teachers ever really noticed when a child left the building, because they were to preoccupied working on the new High School that the school district was building. They were packing up their rooms, because in a eight days, everyone in the old High School would move to the new High School.
Jake seemed to know they were coming, because he was sitting on the hood of his mustang.
“Took you guys long enough,” Jake said jumping off the hood.
“Well you know security,” Jessica said, “It’s really tight around here.”
“We’ll follow you guys,” Mike said to them.
Jake cracked a smile and paced to the drivers seat. Jessica walked to the passenger seat, seeing Robin in the backseat looking out the window to the sea of cement. When they were all seated, they left. Mike and Gin right behind them.
“So what did you do?” Jessica asked Robin. He seemed to gain energy as he told her exactly what happened.
“Well, you know Wayne Ryans? He’s a Junior, well he was trying to make out with Kelly, and she was yelling at him to get away. I was coming from 2nd Period to get my stuff for 3rd, when I heard someone get hit. I wanted to see what was going on, if it was going to be a good fight, when I saw Kelly trying to get away from him. So, I pulled him away from her and socked him right in the nose. He started bleeding, and then he punched me in the gut, so I kicked him in the balls and he fell to the ground. Right when I was about to jump on him, Mrs. Terin pulled me back. She sent me to the office right then and there. Next thing I knew is that Wayne went to the hospital. I hope some good plastic surgeon can fix his nose.” He started laughing about his last crack. Jessica seemed to be amused too.
“Are you kidding me? I wish I could have seen that. It would have been _____” Jake nudged her in the stomach, making her change what she was saying.
“I mean, that’s horrible. You know not to do that.” Then she turned around, trying to hide her smile. Jake rolled his eyes and kept driving.
When they arrived at his house, a question raised.
“Jake, will you take us to Hilmons?” Hilmons was the local amusement park. That was were everyone went. Finally after begging, he said yes. He would have said yes right away, if Robin wouldn’t have got in trouble. This time instead of taking two cars, they all crammed into Jake’s car.
At Hilmons there was some conflicts.
“Let’s ride Screamo!” Robin said.
“You guys go ahead,” Gin said, “ I really don’t like that ride. I’ve rode it too many times.”
“I’ll stay with you Gin,” Jessica said. Jake looked at her for a couple seconds, as if he was deciding what to do. Ride his favorite ride, or stay with Jessica and Gin.
“Okay, we’ll be back in a little bit,” Jake said. He knew Jessica would be fine. She was with Gin anyway.
Gin and Jessica walked around, laughing and telling jokes to each other. Telling each other what people said that day. And, looking at guys. A guy Jessica noticed to be exceptionally hotter than a lot of other guys, was looking at her every second he could. He had Brown, curly hair. It was a little above his shoulders. He had a beanie on his head. He had somewhat baggy pants, and a nicely fit T-shirt. He had a skate board in one hand and nothing in his other. Behind him stood around 6 other guys. Some of them had beanies, and some of them didn’t. They all had baggy jeans, and nicely fit T-shirts. Most of them had skateboards, and some of them had skates. All of them where sexy though. Jessica and the skater boy looked at each other for a while, until he broke the glance, and turned towards his buddies, telling them something. He turned around and started walking towards Jessica and Gin.
“You know it’s rude to stare,” the skater boy said, joking around. They seemed to be circling them.
“I could say the same to you,” Jessica said not moving her glance from the skater boy’s perfect face. He had beautiful light blue eyes.
“My names Cáel,” the skater boy said.
“My names Jessica and this is Gin,” Jessica said pointing to her right. Cáel was very nice and gave her an friendly glance. Jessica was amused by how upfront he was.
“Where are you from?” Cáel asked Jessica.
“I live about fifteen minutes away. I go to Northside High School. I’m a Senior there,” She replied.
“I’m a Senior at Southside. I heard your school is getting a new High School right?”
“Yeah, we are. Next week.”
“Cáel, we’re gonna’ ride Screamo. Are you coming?” a blonde headed guy said walking with the other boys to the rollercoaster that Jake, Robin, and Mike got on about a half hour ago.
“Nah, I’ll hang here,” Cáel said turning to Jessica, “If that’s cool with you?”
“Yeah, it’s fine,” Jessica answered, blushing a little, when he flashed his white, straight teeth at her.
“Good,” he said looking her up and down, still smiling, then turning back to his friends. That made her blush more.
Once his friends walked away, he turned back to them. They shared with each other things about their lives. He was really funny, and made them both laugh. They talked for about another hour in front of Screamo, until Jake, Robin, and Mike came out.
“Oh my god Jess, that line was so long!” Jake said. He didn’t notice that Cáel was with her.
“Yeah, we’ve been waiting here, for like an hour and a half. This is Cáel by the way,” Jessica said looking at Cáel. That was when Jake saw that Cáel was with her. He didn’t look too thrilled about it though.
“Oh, hi. I’m Jake,” Jake said. He put his hand in the air, waiting for Cáel to shake it.
“Hi Jake,” Cáel said shaking his hand. They both didn’t like each other from the start. There was an awkward silence, before Jessica spoke.
“Okay, well let’s get some food. You guys are probably starving.”
“Yeah, I am,” Jake said, not looking away from Cáel.
“Me too,” Cáel said not looking away from Jake. He cocked his eyebrow, showing he wasn’t backing down. Jessica pulled Jake away from Cáel and didn’t stop until she was sure that Cáel couldn’t see them.
“What is your problem?” Jessica asked.
“Nothing. Why do you ask?” Jake said, stretching up, looking for a way to see Cáel.
“Well for one thing, you had a staring contest.” Jessica grabbed Jake’s chin, feeling the tension and then relaxing a little, as she pulled his face down to look at her, “And, for two you are looking for him, even though clearly he is way over there. So tell me, what’s your problem?”
“I don’t like him,” he said, with Jessica’s hand still holding his chin down softly, then starting to harden.
“You don’t even know him.” She finally let her hand go. Jake watched her hand fall to her side.
“Neither do you,” Jake said, still looking at her hand. Jessica looked at her stubborn friend, until after a while he looked at her. They looked at each other for a while, and Jessica walked away. Jake looking after her. He didn’t move for a couple more minutes, then walked back to where all of his friends where. When he came into the clearing, Jessica didn’t look at him once. Everyone looked at them both, wondering why they were fighting. When ever someone would ask, they would both look at the questioner and give him or her a dirty look, as if not to ask.
At the end of the night, everyone was loving Cáel, except Jake. Cáel made everyone laugh, and had his “guy” talk with the guys.
“I’ll be right back, restroom,” Jessica announced.
“Me too,” Cáel said. Both of them walked together to the bathrooms. They were gone for a little while, and Gin was telling Jake to go see what was going on. He was against it for a while, but then finally he caved in. He went to where the bathrooms where and saw Jessica and Cáel kissing romantically and full on. He had his arms rapped around her waist, and she had her arms rapped around his neck. Them making out was enough to fire Jake up. He walked back to where Gin, Mike, and Robin was standing. Hands in fists, trying to hold back his anger.
“Is she hurrying up?” Gin asked. Jake didn’t answer.
“Hello? Is she?” Gin was getting irritated. Jake was thinking about what he just saw. Fire flowed through his veins.
“JAKE!’ Gin was angry now. He didn’t move.
“Dude, Jake,” Mike said as he pushed Jake a little. Jake looked over angrily, making Mike step back. Then when he realized what he was doing, he softened his face.
“Oh sorry. What were you saying?”
“Where is Jessica?” Gin asked again, soft, but with a stern tone.
“Oh yeah, she said she would be over. Had to say bye to Cáel.” He said Cáel with an edge.
“Um. Okay,” Gin said. Everything was quiet until Jessica came back. She was really happy.
“Sorry I took so long!”
“It’s okay Jess,” Gin said winking at her. Jessica was confused at why Gin was winking.
“Let’s go,” Jake said not looking at Jennifer, “Robin you want shotgun?”
“Sure,” Robin said excitedly, running to the passenger side. Jessica was astonished. She didn’t say anything though, she just sat in the back seat. He drove to her house. Gin was staying the night at her house.
“Bye Mike, bye Robin,” Jessica said. Gin kissed Mike goodbye and waved to Robin and Jake. They climbed out of the car and walked to the door. Jake watched Jessica until she walked into the door.
“Dude, Jake are we leaving any time soon. Or, are we going to watch Jessica some more?” Mike said. Jake was stunned.
“What are you talking about?” Jake said turning around to see Mike.
“It’s obvious Man!”
“What’s obvious?” Jake said, sounding like he was trying to hide something. He turned the agnation.
Once they were back at their house the conversation started again.
“Really Jake, when are you going to tell me?” Mike asked, frustrated.
“I don’t know what your talking about,” Jake said turning to Robin. “go to bed, Robin!”
“Why? It seems like your trying to change the su_____” Robin said, soon getting cut off by Jake’s glare. “Okay,” he answered himself quickly, running up his stairs. It was quiet for a little while, before Jake told him what he saw.
“They kissed. They didn’t use the restroom. They were kissing.”
“And you were jealous, right?”
“No. Yes. I don’t know,” Jake said confused.
“So you don’t, but do, but don’t know if you like Jess,” Mike said trying to make out what Jake was telling him.
“Yeah!”
“Well, what are you going to do about that?”
“Ask Meghan out.”
