My mother always tells me i am just like my father. all i know is to walk away, i dont give, all i do is take, that i am a failure. i get the feeling she doesnt love me as much as my brother and she tries to guilt me into everything.

i am crying right now, i feel she doesnt appreciate me for who i am, she's caused many self esteem problems in my life and was a main factor when i was depressed. she also abused me, sometimes still does. im just a teenager, she does this to me every day, on top of everything i go through in my life, i have to deal with this.

i do love her, but sometimes she makes me feel so bad. everytime i try to tell her, she turns in all around on me. my brother always sides with her, so im basically alone in this, i have friends but theres not much they can do. i came here looking for help, so hopefully someone will.

Hey I don't know if this is still going on but just in case i thought I'd say something. I have some friends who were abused and also some who were constantly put down and called failures and such. They've talked to me about it and all I can really say is that it won't last forever. Someday you'll get your own house and life and you can move on. Till then don't believe that you're a failure because you're not, noone is unless they choose to be. I know that sounds cheesy but I mean it. Talk to you're friends about it and try to find comfort in them. You could try being exceptionally nice to your mom so she won't have a reason to put you down. That, of course, isn't nessisary, only if you honestly just need her to stop. If you have a religion also I might suggest focusing on that. I hope something in here might have been helpful. I apologize for posting this so long after the origional post, I just joined so yeah. Anyway if nothing so far helped I hope you can take some comfort in the fact that I'll be praying for you. That might not help either if you're not a christian but I just figured at least the thought counts. I really hope things will work out.

hey! look, i'm really sorry 4 you. i'm really bad at giving advice but i can try. i don't get abused or anything but my mother also makes me feel bad a lot and she seems to think i'm quite a failure too. she's not as out there with it all the time but i can tell what she and most other people think most of the time. well, except for maybe some of my friends. but, i'm constantly fighting with my mother about something or other and she's always trying to tell me what to do. and she also favours my brother and he always sides with her. again, i'm not abused so i can't help you much with that, sorry. but i know what you mean about her making you feel worthless. i, myself, feel kinda useless way too often. all i can tell you is what i do: try and deal and just tell yoursef that once you're 18 you can get the heck outta here and start your own life. once you're 18, no one can tell you what to do! that's what keeps me going at least.
