Mummy, when's daddy coming home?
I ask, sitting on the front veranda
Soon baby, mummy replies
And we sit together and wonder
The rain begins to fall
I play outside with my ball
I stand in the rain it makes me feel alive
Tomorrow, I know, that I turn five
Where is daddy? I ask my mummy
I don't know, she replies, tickling my tummy
I turn five and winter leaves
Daddy its spring, to the fresh air I breathe
Where are you daddy? I ask the sky
But nobody answers coz daddy has died
