#Larissa's (Larie's) P.O.V.#

"There's not a star in heaven that we can't reach!"

I smiled at my duet partner.

"Hey I think you're better than even me!"

"No kidding."

"Stars are supposed to be modest and only act diva-like in the privacy of their homes."

He grinned phonily, showing all his teeth and said dramatically, "When I'm with you, it's like I'm home!"

I gave him my fakest "you-can-tell-I-want-you-right?" look and replied, "Ooh. A smooth talker... I like."

But I think I'll let you in on a little secret. It wasn't all that fake. I'm pretty much at that raging hormones stage, and Nick is sincerely drool-worthy. Allow me to describe. He has sparkling dark cinnamon eyes with long black eyelashes that match his curly hair, has that tall, lanky frame and a soft, naturally red mouth.

God, that boy... One word, yum.

And he said when he's with me, it's like he's home! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!

Okay, so he was just goofing off. But a girl can dream.

I don't know what it IS about him. I get this... euphoria when I'm around him. I may be boy crazy, but this doesn't happen every day. It would be so... great you know? He's so funny and actually LIKES my sarcasm, which is almost too good to be true. But it's highly unlikely we'll ever be more than friends. I think guys just put me in the "friend" category cuz I don't have Rihanna's body. I'm kinda used to it though.

Oops, the competition instructor is headed our way! Better pay attention.

*******

#Nick's P.O.V.#

I watched Larissa intently as she sang. She glows when she sings, as if all the beauty in her soul comes through her melody. Midway through the song, she realised I was watching and self-consciously smoothed her long jacket over the seat of her pants. I sighed. Why was she so convinced she was fat? She's really different from other girls as a whole, but this I-have-to-be-skinny thing sort of irritates me. I mean, nobody wants another Paris Hilton!

It was my turn to sing. I took the microphone from Larissa and my fingers brushed her palm. I didn't really feel anything, but Larissa made this gulping sound.

Does she like me....?

Because this could complicate things. This is a competition. But while I was trying to focus on projecting my voice, I noticed the smile she gave me.

She's actually really striking, but... She really isn't much more than a friend to me you know?

But then again... Pretty girl who likes you = Action.

That's what any red-blooded male would say... Right?

"Life is amazing with you on the ride!"

I raised my hands up above my head and just fell into the song.

"Never comin down from this mountain we're on..."

I twirled around and begun to smile. Then I realised Nick was standing in my doorway.

I'm dancing up to him and he joins in and we... Oh get off it would you, I told myself. That little fantasy isn't likely to come true.

I tried to hide my mortification. Badly, I might add.

"Hiii there... you. How long have you been there? And couldn't you have knocked? And, since when are you an Aly and AJ fan?"

"Hi yourself. I've basically been here forever... I tried knocking but decided it would be fun to catch you like this. And hey, I like Disney chicks."

"Riiiiight. Anyway, why are you even here? Practice is kind of... over. It's been over for about five hours."

He made this offended face.

"So I'm not allowed to see my cool new friend after-hours?"

"I guess I am hard to stay away from. Anyway, I'm kinda bored. And Just My Luck is out..."

"Ew. Chick flick.

"Come on... Let's go... Please?"

"Sigh... Fine. I'll meet you downstairs."

Babylike innocence. It's an effective tactic.

I bit my thumbnail in excitement and hyperventilated a little. Then I shrugged it off. He is a FRIEND. FRIEND. FRIEND. I'm just going to get my jacket and act like he's my brother. Okay. Keep it that way Larie... Don't set yourself up for heartbreak.

#Nick's P.O.V.#

Okay I might've acted really cool upstairs, but this is weird. I couldn't stand it if I had to work with her and she hates me cuz I don't like her back. Or if I like her and we have to compete.

Man, chill. It's not even a date. It's like a friendship thing. That's how she played it after all.

This is dumb, man. I sound like a girl...

There she is. Is she wearing makeup? But she hardly ever wears makeup...

Ooooh, I really like it a lot! I love how you include both of their point of views. Can't wait for more!

yay!! more!!

#Larissa's P.O.V.#

Okay. Why does he look so... Perplexed? Did I do something wrong? I did a little sideways glance at the mirror and finally got it. I looked like what happened in Cheaper By The Dozen 2 to Alyson Stoner after she got made over.

Wait... Is that bad?

Do guys not like sudden change or something?

Great. I feel EVEN MORE self-conscious now.

#Nick's P.O.V.#

I can tell she's feeling self-conscious now. Way to go Nick, you've made her nervous.

So she DOES like me. Crap.

Why else would she feel nervous?

lakegurl93 - June 22, 2006 04:38 AM (GMT)
LOVE it!!

#Larissa's P.O.V.#

Okay. You would probably guess correctly on how the movie date-but-it's-not-really-a-date thing went.

Awkwardly.

You know that one episode of Unfabulous (yuck by the way. That girl can't sing or act fer nuts.) where Addie and Eli go on a date? It was kinda like that, except the theme was set in reverse for me. The Addie part anyway... Definitely not the crazy Chinese girl with the popcorn fetish... uh... Anyway...

Just then, I couldn't believe it.

My ex-boyfriend was standing right in front of me. And he looked pissed.

"hey slut, how's it going? Infected anyone else yet? Him?"

This random guy was throwing insults at Larissa. What. The. Hell. Then I realised she acted like she knew him.

"Okayyyy buddy. How bout you get out of here and go home, yeah?"

I decided to speak for her, since she was kinda... speechless right then.

"You know, she has diseases, you should stay away form her, that's what I did, haha I'm real glad bout that," obnoxio-boy said.

Of course I didn't believe him, but it was getting hell of an uncomfortable. I prayed for her to say something. And she did.

Suddenly she completely blew her fuse, something I never would have expected from Little Miss Clean-cut Insecurity.

"Okay you fucking know what? So you dumped me even though you treated me like shit. Haha, well sorry asshole, I'm free of you now, and you can go fuck the life out of someone and take it, God knows you couldn't get one any other way."

"Ooh baby, maybe we should give it another go, yeah?"

I was ready to tell the bastard I was sick of him, but I decided this method was easier.

So I sort of... punched him unconscious.

"Nick! Why did you do that!"

"But...he was being such a shithole..."

"Yeah but... Never mind." I looked up at his concerned, brown eyes. "It's okay, I get your meaning. Thanks."

I stepped a little closer to him. Heat of the moment. Nick stared at me, then wriggled away uncomfortably.

"C'mon, it's a long walk back."

"Okay," I said, disappointment filling my mind.

#Larissa's P.O.V.#

As we walked back, I could feel the physical, as well as mental, distance between me and Nick grow. I thought about the whole screwed up day. First stupid Larry came back, now this... I can't take it anymore. I love Nick, I think... But he'll never love me back. I could feel the warm wetness dripping down the side of my face. I couldn't stop it. I turned to run the other way, but then... He grabbed my arm. And kissed me.

#Nick's P.O.V.#

I don't know why I just did that. Maybe to find out how I really feel about her. And... I found out. I don't feel anything for her. But I don't want to hurt her... And the guys would be really impressed... So I might as well... Yeah.

So I actually haven't updated this in uh...

almost six months God HAHA i totally forgot.

My bad...

~~~~~~~
#Larissa's P.O.V.#
Even my brain was speechless. Or thoughtless. Or would it be thinkless? I'm sorry, I'm rambling...
Fireworks went off in my head, I swear I heard the heavenly choirs sing Ave Maria. The touch was electric, poetry and feeling coursed through my entire being. As my inner layers peeled away, so did Nick, gently.
I searched for the stars in his eyes. The glimmer. Any trace of feeling besides... Blatant shock.
Then he smiled.
#Nick's P.O.V.#
Okay. There are no words whatsoever to express my confusion. Let's make a list, shall we?
A. I have concluded that I have no more-than-friend feeling for her when she clearly does for me.
B. I've already let her down I think, just by kissing her, by planting the hope.
C. She's had to suffer enough today.
D. I'm seriously considering a pity relationship. Even if it isn't mutual, just becuase I care about her. Then I can let her down easy...
I made a split second decision that probably wasn't a very wise one. I cracked her one of my private it's-great-to-see-you-here-with-me smiles.
And watched her face light up like a million candles burned inside her and felt a hot hand interlock with my fingers.
#Larissa's P.O.V.#
I know he didn't smile with his whole face. Just his mouth. But at this point, I'll take anything. I'll understand if he's a little apprehensive, but he's what I've been waiting for my entire life. The heart, the humour and the looks to match. Not to mention the incredible ego boost I'll get everyday.
I wonder if he'd get scared if I told him I loved him like... Right now?
... Probably. He still looks a little shaken.
Just then, I felt a cold droplet on my cheek. An excuse to move closer...
He gave my forehead a soft kiss, thrilling me all over. He took his thumb and wiped the rain off my face. That's what a real boyfriend does. This is what girls apply lip gloss for, isn't it.
I felt like I was in one of those stupid made-for-TV sap stories.
lakegurl93 - January 21, 2007 03:14 AM (GMT)
finally! gosh! lol, just kidding. but good, more!
gossipgirl - February 16, 2007 08:19 PM (GMT)
hahaha sorry for the wait.
"Do it like you want to, do it alone, just go..."
"Hey, you got a great voice!"
Nick pushed his floppy dark curls to the side, looking up at the skinny blonde girl holding a huge stack of CD's in her arms.
"I'm Robin," she said, sticking out her hand with difficulty, trying not to drop the CD's.
"Nick," he replied. "Want me to help you with that?"
"Aw, it's okay, employees aren't really supposed to ask customers for manual labor."
"Really, no trouble at all," Nick walked along with her, sharing the load, sizing her up as she struggled even with the halved weight. She was interesting, outgoing style. Navy blue miniskirt, purple and black striped leggings, a My Chemical Romance band tee and a pair of standout black Lacoste tennis shoes that were drawn on with glitter pen. Her corn-coloured hair framed an angular face with sharp cheekbones, grey eyes and a quirky mouth. Not pretty in the conventional sense, but really very attractive in her own way.
"Hello... Duuuude..."
"What? Oh!" Nick snapped out of his reverie and headed into the musty storeroom.
"So, where have I seen you before? I could swear you've been on TV or somethin like that."
"Well, I'm gonna be on TV pretty soon, now we're just in the quarter finals stage of the competition. It's pre-filmed you see, maybe you've heard of it... 'Sing It High?' It's a totally stupid name, but whatever."
"Oh yeahhhh I think you were in a magazine! With that chick... Larissa? Lordissa?"
"You were right the first time."
Trying to hide her obvious interest in Nick, Robin asked the question carefully. "So, are you two serious? Looks like there's quite a bit of chemistry between ya."
"Um... Yeah..."
Weird. He said it, but definitely not like he meant it.
This was a job for Robin, P.I.
