Title: 265th Death Korps Seige Regiment
Description: Im a lazy person, so slow progress...

Death_Korp_Of_KRIEG - July 16, 2007 05:07 AM (GMT)
Hi all, first post!
I have been collecting Warhammer 40,000 for over six years now and I found this great forum on Google....
I had first encountered the Death Korps wayyy back in 2001 when the Armageddon campaign was out. I was inspired by the color scheme and the history printed in a issue of white dwarf ages ago... from that moment I was hooked and have always preferred them over any other guardsman regiment.
Sadly these were painted really [I Swear To Much] as they were one of my first armies, but I have come along a long way since those days.
With the release of the new Imperial Armour book I figured it was a great time to redo my old dkok army, the 265th Siege Regiment.
So I purchased a Death Korp model off my mate as a test model:

So far about 5 hours on the model, and he is nearly done, just need touching up on places like the metal etc.
It was painted with the new foundation paints and I must say they make life alot more easy when it comes to painting.
Plus I have a grenadier squad and a grenadier centaur on its way as I speak
Also just to let you know the logo and numbers are all freehand
C & C always welcome

Dominus Ex Machina - July 16, 2007 09:13 PM (GMT)
I really like this Death Korps trooper, very dark, very grim. Just the way it should be. He reminds me ever so slightly of the German SS officers with their black greatcoats.

I also like the red lenses... it has never occurred to me that they could be anything else than black but now that I see it I like it! They make a nice addition of colour since maybe the figure is a bit too black/dark, perhaps the pants could be of another colour? And the boots?

And quite impressive freehand too! Maybe you could show a better picture of the numbers though?

I'm looking forward to resting my eyes on the grenadiers, so be sure keep em' coming!

Kleinerzorn - July 17, 2007 09:24 AM (GMT)
ghehehe yeah relly reminds of a German Soldier
because of the colors but i think mostly because of the ribbon thing on his arm in the colors White/Red/black

but i like the look and you managed to highlight the dark colors and as i think it cant be dark enough i gotta say great work
i wish i could paint like that ^^

Death_Korp_Of_KRIEG - July 18, 2007 06:56 AM (GMT)
thanks guys!
heres a really bad pic of the numbers:

stupid flash! hehe perhaps I could get another one later with better lighting...
I also will be changing the base to the mud guide you made Dominus (its genius!) soon and adding some razor wire as no death korp would be perfect without em ;)

OK! update time!
I have recently been swamped in school work (essays, exams, etc) but my order arrived last week and I somehow managed to cram it in.
So now I present grenadier centaur!:

The sand bags were all made from greenstuff (duh) and that white stuff isn't snow... its polyfiller (I use it for mud) and i decided after reading the fluff in imperial armour 5 I figured that it would get VERY dirty...
did someone say mud?:

@ cortex, the white stuff is poly filler (or perma fill) I use a tooth pick and smush it around, and you can sorta see a big pot behind my command HQ squad. Oh and the commander is one piece ^_^
thanks for the comments much appreciated

Dear ForgeWorld, why do you have to make me buy, and buy and buy from you? why?

Death_Korp_Of_KRIEG - October 6, 2007 11:05 PM (GMT)
Yay! I have good news! my GD entry qualified for the regional finals :#1:
It was heart stopping but the judge said my model really showed the grimness, and muddiness of the DKoK

Sorry for the horrible quality of the picture, the model doesn't look a thing like it in real life, its just it was taken with haste as it had to go into a cabinet... and i used flash...
I'll post better picture when I get it back!

Aye Dominus, you can be expecting the rest of the command squad soon, my only problem is my commander, as he sadly got broken... not to fear, I shall be buying another squad!

yeah they look really nice , and Fw guys said they are armed with shotguns i think

very detailed too, such as the wire coil on his back , most impressive those engineers , theyll go nicely with your siege regiment

Castellan - October 13, 2007 10:24 AM (GMT)
these look simply amazing!

can we have an update on whats coming? because Im going to be building an infantry regiment of these guys and im hooked just as much as you. (thats why im selling old armies btw)

does anybody know anything about the effectiveness of the macharius vulcan heavy tank?

QUOTE (Castellan @ Oct 13 2007, 10:24 AM)

I know it effectivly made me want to puke.

I think if you want a dakka tank go with the original female malacdor. It has the more WW1 cheaply mass produced feel that is krieg.

I just don't think a weapon so powerful and so rare that it is only found on titans would find its way to the guard of any regiment. But because the Macharious was created to be a cheap replacement for baneblades. Since krieg could nott manufacture or maintain enough of them they built the mach. So since its supposed to be sent out in the suicide attrition assults the krieg are hailed for I don't think anyone would sacrifice this super weapon on one.

Castellan - October 13, 2007 03:30 PM (GMT)
I know but is it any good?
I am thinking of ditching it but i actually want some kick out of my forces as the rest is going to be masses of infantry with heavy mortar support.

I probably will go for another form of tank but not a malcador, I really find the turret seriously annoying.

Death_Korp_Of_KRIEG - October 13, 2007 08:24 PM (GMT)
thanks... :D
if you want the rule just go on forgeworld and under the vulcan malcador they have experimental rules...
sorry we cant post them here

Castellan - October 13, 2007 11:03 PM (GMT)
no worries

get on with the painting!
