Title: A New Alpha

Frost was happy he claimed a terra, but somehow he felt, lonely. There was no one there but him. The only things there to keep him company we're rabbits and other animals. "Okay, now that I have a terra, now I need some friends to live here with me." He sighed before lieing down in the pure white snow. He let out a short howl for no apparent reason, he was just lonely.

Aqua's ears were perked up intently. She didn't know what she was listening for as she stood in the center of Amunga Plain, she just was. Suddenly, she heard a howl. Hopeful for a friend to relieve her boredom, she took to the skies.

As she flew through the cool air, she groomed her fur into a reasonable cleanliness. She looked down and saw The River of Ice. She swooped down, elegantly, onto the ground. Snow swished up around her, swirling in the wind and giving the grand entrance she had hoped for. She blinked her eyes to make them sparkle and sat down in front of Frost before the snow had even settled.

When she was visible, she spoke, "Hello, Sir Frost. Are you enjoying The River of Ice?" She flapped her wings slightly and cocked her head to one side, ready to listen.

He was surprised to see her again, being a goddess and all he thought she would be busy. 'I didn't expect to see her again...' "Well, yeah but... I'm pretty lonely here..." He sighed looking up at her, "I haven't met any other wolf here since you."

Aqua looked at him. She smiled. "Chin up, Frost!" she encouraged him. "Pretty soon you'll have a pack, an alphess, and little pups running around!" She smiled at him, but her words stung her to her core. She wasn't even sure if she had a mate. Sure, there was a God of the wolves, but she hadn't ever really spoke to him. If it weren't for the God Meetings she wasn't sure she'f even know who he was.

She tried to sound optimistic. "Enjoy these days, you'll miss them some day," she spoke with the kindness of a mother to her pups. And, in a way, Frost was her pup. After all, she was took care of all the wolves. Comforted them, blessed their pups, did whatever she could to help in times of need. She liked this thought, and tried to settle into it.

He grinned a bit, "I guess your right, its just..." He paused before finishing with his sentence. He sighed, "I'll still be lonely until then..." He stood up shaking off the snow on his body before sitting down. "Aren't you lonely? You seem like it at times, you show it I mean."

Spottedleaf - April 5, 2008 04:25 AM (GMT)
Aqua nodded her head slowly. "Indeed, I am both lonely and accompanied at the same time." She chuckled a bit. "I am many things.... I am lonely at social events, I am accompanied while I walk through the darkest tunnels. I shine on the darkest night, I am shadowed on the brightest day." She looked down at her paws and couldn't tell where that had come from. She flapped her wings again and layed down, her head on her paws.

Frost frowned a bit thinking about what she just said, 'I wonder if she has any family...' Frost grinned a bit before standing and walking over to the river for a drink. 'If she is, then mabye she would like to stay with me. She could give me advise sometimes... Focus Frost!' He swallowed his last mouthful of water and walked over to Aqua, "Erm... You could... Stay with me if you would like." A gulping noise could be heard from his throat. 'Hope I don't get in trouble for this...'

Aqua smiled at his offer. At first she thought it childish, she was a Goddes for The Core's sake! And what was he? But a lonely alpha. She had seen those before, they were everywhere, inside all the claiming males. What should make him special? Why should she choose this land over all the others to stay in?

Then, she reconidered. She didn't have a home of her own. She was no more than a nomad. A loner with a title. She had no permanent home, and no male had ever offered her a place to stay. Besides, the cold would feel good, especially after a long time spent at the other olf lands.

But how would this affect her duties? How could she save a drowning Fire Wolf pup if she was here?

Finally she spoke, "I thank you for your offer. As I am sure you know, I have duties to fulfill. And a loyalty to no one pack." She paused, reconsidering again. "But I would be glad to stay here. But only until you find a mate. And I won't be here a lot." She stood and licked a paw, dragging it behind her right ear like a cat.

He nodded, "I understand, you are a goddess and all." He smiled, "I wouldn't care if you we're a normal wolf, your quite beautiful." He bowed his head again walking over and jumping onto an chunk of ice in the river. He slipped as he landed, falling into the river. He swam up to the surface and gasped for breath, "I meant to do that!" 'Whats that?' Frost dove back underwater coming back with something in his mouth, he came back to the riverbank and climbed out. He shook off the water and walked over to her. "Any idea what this is?" He asked as he placed it in front of her. It was sparckling brightly, like a diamond almost. It looked like some kind of stone.

OOC: Uhhhhh.... Could you edit the post and describe what he found? I don't even have a guess right now....

OOC:Done

Aqua bent down and sniffed at the shining stone. She licked it, it didn't taste like ice. "Looks like jewel," she said. She sniffed it again and looked at the angle of the light shining off of it. It dazzled her that something like that could be found in the waters of the ice cold river. She stared at the jewel's color. "Maybe it's a diamond," she found herself almost wanting it to be a diamond. Something to give her fur a little more sparkle.

Then a reasonable thought entered her mind. "Most likely just glass though," she spoke her thought aloud. "From back when the river wasn't here. The sand that was here was probably struck by lightning a long time ago." She stared at the "jewel."

Ladylovele - April 6, 2008 02:45 PM (GMT)
Frost jumped on it to see if it was, it didn't break, instead, he hurt his paws. "Ouch!" He looked back to Aqua, "I don't think that's glass..." He sniffed it aswell, nothing came to mind.

Aqua looked at the stone again. She had never heard of any gems in the river. In fact, she hadn't ever heard that there were gems anywhere in Zanzira. But the closer she looked at it, the harder it got to dismiss it as anything except a diamond. She looked at Frost and down at the stone. Then she motioned with her tail that she'd be right back.

Running towards the river she prepared herself mentally for being underwater. She didn't make a habit of swimming, and rarely needed to either. Instead she used her wings whenever faced with a body of water to big to jump over. And, as she plunged into the clear waters of the River of Ice, she knew that this habit wouldn't soon change.

As the water enveloped her wings she felt like she would drown. Gasping, she paddled her legs until her head was above water. She took a deep breath and plunged down again. She snapped her eyes open when she was only about a foot from the bottom and scanned its floor quickly, looking for more mysterious rocks. She held her breath for as long as she could stand then reappeared at the water's surface, paddling towards the riverbank.

She pulled herself out of the water and shook the bulk of the water out of her fur. She padded back to Frost and reported her findings. "There aren't any more in the river," she pointed her tail at the mystery rock. "It must be the only one. Washed down from Glittering Snowcaps, most likely."

He yawned, "well, I'm pretty tired, what about you?" He stretchedout before sitting back on his haunches, "even though I'll have to look for a place to sleep..."

Sorry to go admin on ya, but longer post, please?

OOC: Donesies! : :D

Spottedleaf - April 13, 2008 01:46 PM (GMT)
OOC: Oi.... I'll take it.... Just remember that a paragraph normally consists of four to seven sentences.....

Aqua yawned too. Her coat was still wet from her swim and she wasn't ready to pack it in for the night. "Yes, well... Hmmm.... You can sleep along the riverbank, there's usually a few little hidey holes around there. But I'm going to dig a hole."

And she did. She knew it wasn't right, but she set a small flame to rid the grasses from an area. She felt even more tired, but knew she wouldn't be able to sleep soon. Then she sent a gust of wind to blow away the smoke and sparks that had begun to float around. She couldn't have them just stay out here and set a fire in the night. Then she began to dig. Her paws moved like a whirlwind, soon she had a pup-sized hole dug. Then she rested a while. Using her god powers this late really drained her energy. But she had to keep it up, the hole only had to be big enough for her to fit into now, she could spend tomorrow just on digging. But she was tired already.

"Could you help me?" she panted as she spoke. "Calling wind and sparking fire makes me tired quick." She turned around to start digging again, whether he helped her or not she needed to get at least a little dug.

Ladylovele - April 13, 2008 06:51 PM (GMT)
OOC: Okay!

Frost nodded, "sure." He said in a timid voice. He walked over to her beginning to dig along with her. He paused after a few moments for breath, and he noticed that it was beginning to snow. He laughed and looked at her, "looks like there may be a snowstorm!" He laughed again as he began to dig once more. Finally, it was big enough for Aqua to fit in. "There you go!" He said in a rough-timid voice. He yawned again.

He looked up and down the river bank, searching for a hideaway to sleep in for the night. He spotted a rather large one over there, not to far away either. He looked back at her smiling, "well I better get on down there and rest." He said before he yawned again. Then he began walking through the soft, white snow to his bed for the night. He turned back to her and yelled, "night!" He smiled again, unseen to Aqua before walking along again towards his bed. 'She seems really nice... I always thought 'superior' wolves we're stuck-up and snooty.' He chuckled to himself, 'not her!.. And that's for sure!' He chuckled again before reaching his destination.

He walked into the small hole looking around, "a bed of grass." He said, his breath creating snow on the grass. "Ah, that's better." He chuckled a bit before walking to the back of the hole. He turned around, walked over to and above the middle, and laid down. He began slowly closing his eyes, beginning to dream.

"Mommy when are we going back?" A young pup asked nervously to a young adult. The wolf frowned, running beside the pup and sighed, "we are never going back my son, never." The pup frowned beginning to cry as he ran, stopping overwhelmed with tears. "Frost, darling..." She sighed walking over to him, nuzzling him. "If we are seen still near the pack... We will be killed." She said remembering why they we're running, she quickly picked him up by the scruff taking off again.

Frost awoke, with fear inside. He panted, still afraid from that terrible nightmare. "Just.. A dream... No... More like a nightmare..." He began to slow his breathing, standing up and peaking his head out the entrance. "Mom..." He sighed looking up at the sky, "the storm must have blown off by now... It's morning after all." He sighed looking over to where Aqua was most likely asleep still then walked off towards the socialization grounds to see if he can find someone to talk to.

Aqua nodded her thanks to Frost when the hole was finished. She watched him as he padded away. Such a kind wolf.... she thought. I wonder if goddesses have to mate with their gods.... She then padded into the hole and laid down to sleep.

Her dreams swirled with images of diamonds. On each one was a portrait. Like a moment frozen in time. On one she saw Azul, his coat lit up from a fire raining down. On the next she saw Frost, falling off of an ice flow. And then she the river terra from the sky, snow covered the ground making it sparkle. The next one troubled her, she saw a wolf pack running from fire that rained down harder than it had at the meeting. Some of them had caught on fire. She tried to save them, but the harder she ran the farther away she was.

Aqua woke up and found herself sweating beneath her fur. She remembered her dream in an instant, and it troubled her more now. Something that she had done yesterday must have troubled something, upset a balance. She thought back to Orion and his herd of horses. Back then she had been taught a religion not known to most wolves. "StarHerd," she had been told, "Are the controllers and creators of this world. They speak to us in dreams and we must listen. They predict the future and help us to avoid worse case scenarios."

These words echoed in her mind now. They sent a chill down her spine. She couldn't ignore her adopted father's words, nor the dream she was sure StarHerd had just sent. She stood and walked from the burrow, blinking as she entered the snowy scene. It looked just like her dream....
