Azeelia padded into the clearing. Her grayish-brownish pelt was matted as if she hadn't bothered to keep trying to take care of herself. Her usual cheery and lively eyes were dull as she padded to the shade of a tree, tail and head held low.

She was in the depths of despair. Just yesterday, she had been prancing around, spreading her joy. Then, that stupid shadow wolf had started teasing her. The shadows of realization had come over Azeelia, blocking out all the lights of joy. The young wolf had realized, that not only was she homeless, she was loveless!

"Life just couldn't be any worse," the she-wolf thought, "I have no friends, family, home, or love!" She flopped down in the shade of the tree and rested her head on her front paws, her ears and eyes alert in case someone tied to approach her.
