Venom's paws felt heavy as he entered another area of the underground maze. Every part of him seemed to be aching and it was a releif to sprawl out on the grass. "Even a cat with eyesight as mine would have to go through all of these tunneles to get it right", he muttered to himself. It was true, he had never intended to be here. The cave looked like a good place to shelter for the night, so he entered, only to find it the entrance of a series of underground tunnels. Following his "intuition" had gotten him nowhere, but now he was here. And how beautiful it was. There was roots falling from the ceiling like earthly streamers. Grass grew, yet it was far underground. What a mysterious place, Venom thought. He sat up quickly, lashing his tail on the grass. No other cats seem to live here. Maybe I could live here. Start over again. If only that cat who smelled like him hadn't killed the youngster. Than he would still have a home. "I think I shall", he decided. "I shall start my own clan."Standing up, his head high, he recited, "I, Venom, will defend this meadow at the cost of my life, to defend all those who should come to live here and to treat all as equals. May my Kingship bring peace and hope and may cats remember me long after I have passed." He sighed slightly. It was a huge promise and he meant every word of it. He could almost feel the weight of responsiblilties on his shoulders already. But, it couldn't be better. Life, as they say, is sweet.
