It was silent and dark, very dark. Lightless Grove of course was like that. Suddenly the silence was broken by mysterious sound, it sounded like whisping wind in various places. It continued till it reached a certian point, the heart of the grove. There standing was pitch black wolf and a swirling black smoke like cloud was flooting away from him. He looked around, his yellow eyes glowed in the never endnig darkness. Silence regain order momentarily, he perck his ears to listen for any living thing. He then raised his head a howled out ," I, MidnightLance claim this barren Grove. If anyone isn't to pleased with this come and fight me know or forever hold your peace." his voice echoed off the branches of the trees. " Well then," he said in a more quiet voice," this land is for me and my pack and I will rule at the best of my abilities." he smiled with confidence. Suddenly he vanished only leaving a twisted cloud of black.

Aqua stood in The Lightless Grove and blinked once in the darkness. Her beautiful white coat shone in the pitch darkness as brightly as it would in the brightest sunlight. She stepped forward towards MidnightLance. She blinked at him and howled a clear howl into that sky that climbed up and down the music scale. Her howl rang for several moments before it finally took shape, and the shape it took was that of a song.

Her howl ended and she spoke at last. "You are lucky to be in the presence of a Goddess, MidnightLance. I am Aqua, Goddess of all Wolves." She paused for emphasis and to let him absorb this information. Then she continued, "Do I have your word that you will protect and defend this land, even at the cost of your life? Do I have your word that you will protect all your future pack's members, even at the cost of your life? Do I have your word that you will rule this land fairly and justly? Do I have your word?"

She sat down, awaiting his reply, and blinked her clear blue eyes at him once more. Her coat sparkled and she looked like a newly fallen snowflake.

MidnightLance was not one bit startled, but he was going to be stupid and act defient. Being defiant of someone obliviously more pwerful than you was a pointless battle. He thought on her question ," You now you don't have to say my whole long name, you could just call me Lance," he looked at her his yellow eyes staring blantly ," You do have my word, but to be honest I think I can protect this land and not need to sacrific my life." he knew that this conversation wasn't neccessary and if he would've just said I promised she would poof and nothing more.

Aqua stood in front of MidnightLance. Her expression was as blank as a blade of grass. She looked at him and only her eyes said Rule it as you may, but do not hurt your pack members. I do not with to come back here because of anything other than new pups. Then, she raised her head and howled out a tune and other wolves seem to join in her, with Aqua taking the first line and then the others taking the following line, throughout their howl just swiching again and again. Their howl slid up and down the musical scale and eventually formed a recognizeable tune:

"Go ahead and live all your fantasies."
"Don't you ever think about the other side?"
"Helps you get from where you are to where you wanna be."
"You and me oughta be takin' a ride."
"Do the best you can, and you make your mistakes."
"If you don't like it you can say that you tried."
"'Cause all I have to give is whatever it takes. "

Then, she breathed in MidnightLance's scent. "Goodbye, respectable Sir MidnightLance," she said. "May you always have peace in your land, but know what to do in times of trouble."

And with that she turned and walked back into The Lightless Grove. The leaves in the trees danced as she passed them. Her clear blue eyes focused ahead of her, still, and she eventually disappeared into the darkness.

He bowed his head in respect. He gazed out in the distance but then he himself vanished away to an unkown part of the grove, to do his duty. He hope she didn't have to come back either for anuthing else than pups too.
