Title: On my own

Tarla trotted around and stopped, she was heading torwards the claiming grounds but decided to stop here for while to rest. She stood on the plains and let the wind ruffle her feathers. She had been living with a herd of felins but now that she is old enough to care for her self she decided to leave them and try to join another heard or find her old one. She gazed apon the field filled with spring grass.

Nyx stopped and gazed upon the grasses. The sun shone over head and she cursed it. I could be sleeping now if this thing wasn't here, she thought coldly. She stared down into the grass and cursed it as well. This is the stuff that horses eat, those sorry creatures. Real animals eat meat.
She continued to scoff inside her mind until she looked up. She had heard of the supposed descendant of Tuari, but she had never seen her. Until now. She stared up at the hyppogryph in amazement. She hadn't truely thought the stories of Tauri were true, but there Tarla was. It simply can not be! This can not be his descndant! She thought in amazement.
Quickly, she galloped on her hoof-feet up to the other young mare. "Hello, Tarla," she said. But, suddenly, it hit her that Tarla may be scared by her sudden approach. Tauri was a legend to her family, but no one had ever told many stories about Tarla to her. She hoped Tarla wouldn't be scared.

Tarla was snapped out of her trnce by the sudden approach. She jerked her head up, she had at first thought it was cat but was relived to find that it was a felin. She though was puzzled by the fact that this felin knew her name. She quickly glanced over her ," Uh, nice to meet you. Ummm how do you know my name?" she was completely clueless about how famouse her heritage was to other gradors.

Nyx was happy she hadn't terrified Tarla too much. "Let me introduce myself first, I am Nyx, descendant of Zulu of Yan Forest," she said, admitting the ancestry she hated. "You are Tarla the descendant of Tauri of Yan Forest. Tauri is famous in my family, if you can believe that. My great-great-blah-blah-blah grandmother was in Tauri's herd. And, well, my family has always told stories of Tauri's deeds. He is somewhat of a legend to me." Here she paused, to let Tarla understand all of this and to gather her thoughts.
"Except, he's not," she continued. "You're here and that means Tauri must have existed. Zulu was right! Of course, after how she was so happy-go-lucky till her death, we all thought Zulu was a little on the wacky side, if you get my meaning." She took her paw and circled it on the ground and hoped that all this wasn't too surprising.

" I knew I was related to Tauri, but not that he was so well known." she paused thinking for a moment ," I've heard about Zulu through tales also, while I was living with a Feling pack they told me about her." suddenly a smile cam across her face ," hey since you've heard about me have you about my twin brother? if so do you know were he is?"

The sun caught silver feathers, making them glint and glitter. Blizzy looped dramatically over head, her crest feathers pinned down tightly against the white fluff of her neck. Her powerful wings spread and flapped, taking her higher and higher into the sky. She was surfing through clouds now, a smile of glee on her long muzzle. Sometime she would have to thank the Core for these wings. Without them she could not fly, and she didn't want to even think about what not being able to fly must be like. She shuddered slightly, her crest flittering about as she did.
Blizzy stretched her wings so that they once again gleamed in the sun high above her. And then she pulled them to her side. Blizzy rocketed downwards, her mouth opening and a smile forming as she flew. It was exhillarating, absoloutly wonderful and exhillarating.
The Snow Wing glided over the two horses down below her, and she pulled her wings out from her sides, and turned to look. Shrugging and deciding she had nothing better to do, the Snow Wing flapped her mighty wings again. That was all it took. She alighted gently a few feet away from where the horses stood, smiling a friendly smile. She folded her wings gentally, and flicked her crest upwards so that she had a small feather mohawk. "Hello!" She greeted, using the Language of Everyone so that they could understand her. She suddenly realized how hot it was. She opened her mouth and began to pant instantly, her cold breath making steam on the warm spring air. This temparature was way different from the ones she was used to at home. Winter was best for sure.

Nyx shook her tiger head and looked at Tarla with a look of confusion. "No," she said. "I have heard nothing of twins in Tauri's family. I have not heard all of the tales, though. There might be one that includes him but there are few that include yo--" She stopped as she saw a wolf-like creature plunging down towards her.
She roared a wanring to the approaching creature. She opened her mouth in a huge gape. Her teeth shone in the morning light and she flicked her tail in annoyance. Her eyes shone dark with hatred and dislike. She reared back and landed with a THUD! on the grassy meadow below her.

Tarla looked over to see the wolf standing there suddenly a jolt of emotion sparked through her body. A feeling of anger and fear was pulsing through her body. Memories of her past reeled through her mind. She though didn't show her emotions, she gradualy gained control of herself. " What do you want?" she said in a mono tone. She kept her eyes on the Wolf and all around incase of a pack attack.

Most certainly not the response she wanted. She jumped backwards out of sheer surprise at the reaction of the felin, and the way the other horse said the words, "what do you want?" made her feel bad. The crest flattened down and so did the ears. The wings ruffled a bit as the smile faltered, and then faded altogether. Blizzy leaned back on her haunches and landed on the ground, sitting before them and sticking her bottom lip out in what was clearly a pup-ish pout. "Nuth'in," She said softly, staring at both of them with her icy blue eyes. There was a bit of sadness there. These days she wouldn't even dream of eating a horse...it just wasn't right anymore. They where smart like her, they where one of The Mighty Three of Zanzira.
She sighed softly, her head tilting and looking down at her paws now. Her coat shined like ice in the sun as she sat there, still clearly pouting. Her abnormally long nails fidgeted on the soft grass. She just wanted to talk. Or play...

Nyx stared at the creature and closed her jaws. She eyed it cautiously. All of her instincts told her to kill it now and be done with this creature. She might even enjoy doing that, but, instead, she glared at it. She decided that if Tarla attacked she would, violence was Nyx's best attribute. But, as she stared down at it, her heart filled with feelings of hatred, she knew it would be frowned upon to kill any creature that could think.
She thought for a moment and said, "What's that mean?" Her eyes narrowed into slits and she felt that she could kill the wolf-like creature quickly and easily. It looks so helpless. She thought. I could kill it quicker than a mouse. She continued to think these thoughts and waited until Tarla made a move.
lil'eagle - November 4, 2007 10:31 PM (GMT)
Tarla noticed Nyx position and understood her body language. She wasn't to willing to attack something that didn't seem to threaten them. She looked at the wolf and looked into her eyes, did she really mean nothing? " Well so you're here for nothing? nothing at all" she spoke calmly, last thing she wanted was someone torn to shredds.

Blizzy still stared at her paws. When she glanced up at the mares he saw the look that the felin had in her eyes and for a moment felt fear. It tingled up into her spine and neck, making her shiver slightly. What a strange thing for a predator to feel. Fear, from a animal that once was her prey.
The hippogryph didn't look that way though. She looked kinder, though prehaps a bit worried. At the question she didn't say anything for a bit, and then, slowly, she opened her mouth and said, "Well, I wanted to play."
Spottedleaf - November 5, 2007 09:31 PM (GMT)
Nyx snorted. Play? She thought. Playing is for foals! This pathetic creature is no more intellegent than the average foal! She let her eyes tell her thoughts and hoped that it would run away in fear. That it would cower before her, like so many had. That it would feel the hate Nyx felt for every living creature and dash away, faster than a hare.
But, on the other hand, she knew that this creature couldn't mean any harm. And, surely, Tarla was right not to hate it too much. But still hate swelled up inside Nyx, she thought back to the stories of Tauri she had heard. Instantly, she knew she couldn't hurt this creature. She sighed and, thinking of nothing she could say without spitting venom at the half-wolf (metaphorically speaking), she looked to Tarla.
lil'eagle - November 6, 2007 03:24 AM (GMT)
Tarla eyed both of them then notice they were both looking at her, oblviously she had to make the next move. "Well, what did you have in mind for a game, as you see we're all like opposites, in a sence I'm a bird, Nyx over there is a cat, and you're a dog. I really don't think there is a game we could all play." The thought of a game sounded kinda fun but she worried the game might turned into a fight.
Wild Heart - November 10, 2007 02:33 AM (GMT)
"Okay..." Blizzy said, softly, her crest flattening down against her neck and her ears dropping. She could taike a hint. She knew that they didn't want her there because she was a predator. The shine seemed to have left her eyes. She stood up, her tail sagging, and stretched her wings. "Maybe we could play some other time?" She said, trying to sound happy. She flicked her ears towards them, but didn't exactly wait for a reply. She jumped into the air and with a mighty flap of her wings she was off.
