Title: Hallows' End Gala - Script

Tzar'ai - November 1, 2008 12:52 PM (GMT)
Here's scene one, scenes two and three will follow as soon as I finish them. Keep in mind when reading it that a pantomime is MEANT to be silly. =P

[Enter Thiladeus, stage left, turn to face the crowd]

Thiladeus:

“Friends one and all, gathered here this night,
To celebrate freedom and an end to plight,
This play have I wrote, and perform for you now,
Despite the Lich’s wish that this be our final bow.

The scene: A monastery, seven years past,
As night, and death, close in fast.
A single soldier stands against the tide,
Whilst companions fall and their body’s rise…”

[Exit Thiladeus, stage right]

[Enter ‘Sir Thomas’, stage right, and Zombie Extra no. 1, Sir Thomas strikes the zombie down]

Sir Thomas: “The dead are rising even in this place! But, by the Light, I’ll stand strong against this Scour-!”

[Thomas trips on a flagstone (/kneel), sighs, and then gets back up.]

ST: “Figuratively speaking.”

[Thomas looks behind him and around, ending up looking out towards the audience.]

ST: “Where’s the rest of my section? I was sure they were just behind me.”

[Enter ‘Bloodmage Thalnos’, stage left, unseen by Thomas.]

Thalnos: (To audience) “Little does he know that I sent the rest of his men scurrying back to their blessed cathedral. However, I have plans for this one… First, I’ll don this clever disguise.”

[Thalnos dons ‘clever disguise’. Would work well if this was a flimsy mask, troll/gnome/tauren/orc/dwarf preferably.]

Thalnos: /e puts on a high-pitched voice.

Thalnos: “Oh, I say, there, what’s-your-name, paladin.”

[Thomas notices Thalnos and turns to him.]

ST: “Sir Thomas, my good… Uh…”

ST: /peer <Thalnos>

ST: “My good… [race]. What are you doing in this benighted place?”

[Zombie Extra no. 1 gets up again, Thomas smacks him back down with barely a glance.]

Thalnos: “Well, I, uh… I say, what was that thing you just hit over the head?”

ST: “A vile minion of the Lich King.”

Thalnos: “Oh, you don’t say, really? Do go on.”

ST: “Yes, a vile, corrupted, wretched…”

Thalnos: “Yes, yes.”

ST: “… Hideous, rotting, abominable…”

Thalnos: “Indeed?”

ST: “… Evil, diabolical and dread pawn of the traitor, Arthas.”

Thalnos: “No… Really? You mean that same Arthas that’s standing right behind you this very second and you really ought to turn around and look?”

Thalnos: /e points over Sir Thomas’ shoulder.

ST: “Where!?”

[Thomas turns his back on Thalnos, who hits Thomas on the head, knocking him unconscious. Thalnos then beckons to Zombies Extra 2 and 3, who enter stage left and help up Zombie Extra 1.]

Thalnos: “Perfect, this knight will make a fine creature of the dark. I shall mold this human into a great warrior, a rider who’s very appearance shall strike fear into the hearts of the populace. That’ll teach Kel’Thuzad to try and out-do me with his Four Horsemen…”

[Zombies 1, 2 and 3 have already taken the head off Sir Thomas and are arguing over who should eat it.]

[Thalnos turns to the three of them.]

Thalnos: “No! No, no, no… Bad! Down! Phyllis, control yourself! Don’t make me immolate you!”

[Zombies calm down and skulk behind Thalnos.]

Thalnos: “Now look what you’ve done… I had great plans, but… I suppose this will have to do. I guess he’ll have to be the Headless Horseman instead.”

[Thalnos exits, stage left, and the three Zombies drag the body of Sir Thomas off stage with them, also exiting to the left.]

End of Scene One.

Sir Thomas will be played (most likely) by Morbium, since he's playing the Horseman in later scenes.

Thalnos will be played by Cadfael.

Zombies 1-3 I need volunteers for, level one alts would work well for this (Forsaken, of course).

Scene Two:

~~~
[Thiladeus climbs back up to the stage and turns to the audience.]
Thiladeus:
“The years went by, and the world was changed…
Lordaeron broke free of the Lich King’s chains…
Towns were rebuilt, populated once more,
Brill stood again before the city’s door…
But all was not well. Evil was stirring.
The zealous knight in his grave was turning.
On Hallows’ End eve, he broke free at last,
To wreak his revenge on those now passed.
Now let us move our eyes to Brill;
A town haunted by the Horseman, still…”
[Thiladeus exits, stage left, as the Hero enters, stage right. He is joined by the Heroine and various villagers celebrating the festival.]
Hero: “Another dull evening… Well, I think it’s evening. Can’t ever see the sun in this place.”
[The Hero sighs, the Heroine walks up to him.]
Heroine: “It’s not all bad, the dark sky brings out the light from the pumpkins. Come on, enjoy the festival. Besides, weren’t you here to visit your uncle?”
Hero: “It’s depressing trying to hold a conversation with a reanimated skull, you know.”
[The Hero sighs again, and the Heroine gives up and walks off-stage.]
Hero: “It would just be nice to see some action… Or something scary… Hallows’ End kind of loses its edge when the celebrators are, themselves, undead.”
[The Heroine comes back on stage and taps the Hero on the shoulder. The villagers look to the left of the stage and gasp.]
Heroine: “Well, looks like something’s happening. If you’re so bored, why don’t you go look?”
[The Headless Horseman enters the stage from the left, mounted. He laughs and recites the opening lines.]
HH: “Prepare yourselves, the bells have tolled!
Shelter your weak, your young and your old!
Each of you shall pay the final sum!
Cry for mercy, the reckoning has come!”
[HH summons pumpkin soldiers to him and laughs again (if the 30 second cooldown’s gone.)]
Villager: “The Horseman! Run ferrit! Save the beer! Every coward for himself!”
[The villagers run off-stage. The Horseman rides across the stage after them, the Hero and Heroine start running back and forth, as if trying to put out the fires. Emote it if you think it’ll help the audience understand.]
Hero: “Oh come on, I mean, I don’t enjoy the festival, but setting the place on fire is going a bit far.”
Heroine: “Shut up and help me douse the fires.”
HH: “The sky is dark, the fires burn! You strive in vain as fate’s wheel turns!”
Heroine: “And you!”
HH: “The town still burns, a cleansing fire! Time is short, I’ll soon retire!”
Hero: “You sure it’s really worth it? I mean, these buildings ARE pretty old, it’s about time-“
Heroine: “One more complaint from you and I’ll force you to go bobbing for apples.”
[The Hero sighs and heaves another bucket of water.]
[The Horseman rides across the stage again.]
HH: “Fire consumes, you’ve tried and failed! Let there be no doubt, justice prevailed!”
[The Horseman rides across the stage again and grabs the Heroine, carrying her off-stage with a laugh.]
Heroine: “Hey, what do you think you’re doing!? Put me down!”
Hero: “Oh, that’s, uh, not good. … I guess I’ll have to go save her. She might be a pest but then, what’s a hero without a distressing damsel by his side?”
[The Hero runs after them. One of the villagers walks back onto the stage from the other side. They kneel down and pick up one of the pumpkin soldiers (Sinister Squashling). They cheer and walk back off-stage.]
End of Scene Two.
~~~

Hero and Heroine have yet to be cast, the villagers will probably be the same people who were playing zombies in the previous scene. Horseman is Morbium.

Tzar'ai - November 1, 2008 03:41 PM (GMT)
[Thiladeus climbs on stage again.]

Thiladeus:

“We turn our attention back once more,
To the monastery we’ve seen before.
Our Hero has stormed the entrance hall,
And stands in the graveyard, as a grey mist falls…”

[Thiladeus exits the stage and the Hero enters, sword drawn.]

Hero: “Horseman! Show yourself!”

[HH walks onto stage from the other side.]

HH: “It is over, your search is done! Let fate choose now, the righteous one!”

Hero: “Well, really I was hoping that we could talk calmly over this…”

HH: “Soldiers arise, stand and fight! Bring victory at last, to this fallen knight!”

[HH summons pumpkin soliders.]

Hero: “Ah, are you sure you don’t want to just… Talk things over?”

HH: “Harken, cur, ‘tis you I spurn! Now feel the burn!”

[HH charges at the Hero, who is knocked backwards. The hero manages to push HH off and knocks him to the floor (/kneel).]

HH: “So eager you are, for my blood to spill. Yet to vanquish me, ‘tis my head you must kill!”

[HH laughs.]

Hero: “Now there’s an idea.”

[The Hero grabs hold of the HH’s helmet and pulls it off, throwing it away. HH reverts to the ghost of Sir Thomas (ghost wand preferably.)]

ST: “… Wait, you’re not one of the Scourge. What’re you doing here?”

[Heroine walks up behind the Hero.]

Hero: “You attacked Brill and kidnapped a friend of mine, where is she?”

[Presumably the audience will yell “She’s behind you!” at this point.]

Heroine: “You ought to listen to them.”

[Hero turns around.]

Hero: “Ah, there you are. Well, uh… Business is done here. Shall we head back?”

Heroine: “Fine, but you can come bobbing for apples now you’ve had your fun, WITH NO COMPLAINTS.”

[The Hero sighs and walks off after the Heroine, leaving Thomas on stage. Thomas shrugs and walks off, tripping over on a flagstone.]

[Thiladeus walks onto the stage and faces the audience.]

Thiladeus:

“The play is done, and reached its end,
And now I ask that you would your minds bend
Their thought to our actors here,
As they take their bows, pray…
Be of good cheer. The End.”

[Actors come onto stage and bow to the audience, before exiting.]

~~~
End.
