Title: Halloween Gala
Description: Hallows Eve Event
Adnaw - October 17, 2008 02:37 PM (GMT)
Hello!
Morbium and Tzur told me to come here and post this.
I am Currently putting together a costume Ball event to take place on most likely Saturday the 1st of November. I am putting it together, (Me as in Adnaw) but one of the hosts shall be a Forsaken alt of mine, as Adnaw is not really suited for this type of event.
I am wondering if the Brill guild would be interested in co-hosting this event with me? I have quite a few things planned and could use some help and also it would be great to get your feedback and perhaps add some of your ideas to this event as well.
Morb told me you were also thinking about running a similar event. So I figure working together to make one grand event would probably suit both of us very well.
Here are the ideas that I have put together so far: (please feel free to comment on them and offer suggestion)
The Costume Ball will be hosted by my forsaken alt (with the Hallows eve honorific title of Queen of Darkness - more on this will be explained later) and perhaps Ilron?
-The Ball will start at the burning of the Wicker man just ouside of the Undercity. The burning will signify the start of the ball.
-There will be a promanade to the Ruins of Lorederon, this courtyard will be the main place the event will take place.
-The theme of the costumes should be scary costumes.
- There will be a pantomime with actors. Think Victorian pantomime plays with dasterdly villains and magnificent heroes and beautiful heroines (Not Medieval religious pantomimes). The Players/actors should all be forsaken. I was going to write this but Tzur has asked to do so, So I gladly hand it over to him. (basically this is a play that will be emoted and acted but not spoken) Tsathoggua though has already pleaded that his forsaken alt play the villain.
- There will be a costume contest.
- The "Queen of Darkness" is a title that is passed every year to one female forsaken and is an honarary title. She holds a play court during the hallows eve holiday every year and at the end of hallows eve there is a Ball in which she passes the title to another female forsaken. That is then her year to rule. This is more like a Miss America title than anything else just Honarary and holds no real meaning other than having some fun RP elements and some time to shive for one particular character. I will have my alt start the event as the Queen and hand the title over to someone in attendence towards the end of the event. this will take place in the Throne room.
-There will be a fireworks show that will be opeed by the newly titled Queen of Darkness. The Fireworks willbe to honor the Dark lady Sylvannas.
Also I would love to hear if you have anythingplanned and what you all think and of you have things to add.
What I could use help with:
-Players/actors for the pantomime
-A few more fireworks but most especially Fireworks launchers
-People to serve Drink in short shifts during the event.
What is in it for Brill?
Well I can take care of the advertising since it is something i am quite good at, also on the forums my green text gets automatic attention. I will give equal billing to Brill as a guild, therefore generating more attention and interest. If we can pull the event off well it will strengthen Brill's standing in the RP community.
Brill will get a ton of help hosting an event.
Brill gets to participate in a fun event.
I want to start Advertising for this event tomorrow. So if your in I will need to know Asap. I will check back here later this evening

"Morb told me you were also thinking about running a similar event. So I figure working together to make one grand event would probably suit both of us very well."
Aye, I was. I've had very similiar ideas, and in fact, I was too busy with the Southshore Siege to plan the event 'in detail'.
Most of your ideas are equal to mine. I've already given our bard the task to create a song or two regarding the event. I had also planned a firework show, scariest story, scariest costume, "Burning the Witch"(which is almost identical to the Wicker Man), a lot of special booze, meals and prizes(though the old money-award stays aswell). Also, I'd be much obliged if the event, at some part, would take place in the Gallows' End Tavern - it's one of the most important things I would ask for. What else, what else... oh, yes. Perhaps there could be a King of Darkness aswell? To put things fair, you know.
We'll deffinately provide you people who would serve drinks and meals and hopefully actors, depending on how many you would need. Every idea given, is agreed on.

Hmm
All sounds good.
My only concern is using the gallows end tavern, since it is not really suited for a ball type event...but it would be nice your right since it is such a conerstone of Brill RP.
How about this then to work it in.
A pre-event:
Dinner at the Gallows End. An hour before the event those wishing to take part in a banquet are invited to have refreshments and food at the Gallows End tavern. From there it is only a short walk to the giant wicker man that will be burned.
So over all schedule will loook like this: ( think the burning is at 20:00 if it is at 21:00 then everything will start an hour later)
19:00: A Banquet will be served at the gallows End Tavern for those wishing to feast before the ball
19:45: Everyone heads to the wicker man for the lighting outside the gates of the UC
20:01: The Ball officially begins and everyone is escorted to the Courtyard of the UC.
20:45: A Pantomime ( should not be longer than 12 minutes due to short player attention span - plus people will want to RP)
21:30 Costume Contest and judging
22:00 New Queen announced
22:15 Fireworks to honor Sylvanas and end of the Ball
People can continue to RP as they want.
What do ya think?

Everything sounds good so far as I'm concerned.
I actually plan to act very civilized and noble with Morb then. Hmmmm...what would be scarier? Morb in a tux or a grim reaper suit?
One thing though. When would this be? My familly expects me to be present at halloween's night. We always celebrate it with friends coming over. I doubt they'd take it lightly if I sit out on them.

Twelve minutes long panto, and you want it... mimed.
But pantomimes have speech. >_<
Adnaw - October 19, 2008 01:18 PM (GMT)
Tzur you took over the writing so go ahead and do as you want.
My one advice is, since I have dealt with players trying to be in plays before is to perhaps adopt this scenario since most players never bother to try and get lines and such.
make a narrator- have the narrator do the speaking bits - or the poem in the case of the pantomime.
Have the actors act out what is being said by the narrator with emotes.
But tbh do as you see fit. I trust your judgement. This is nothing more than advice. I turned over the pantomime to you so it is your project. Run with it and have fun, just make sure that what ever it is that it will be easy for the players you chose as actors to portray it.
Also 12 minutes game time will be hard it will be hard to get a play in in such a short period of time. You will be surprised how quickly that time will pass in game. Also try and just get it around there. In the end it will most likely end up going longer on the day. these things always do.

Also Check these out and tell me what you think. Also the event is now part of the advertising circulation on the AA banners too.
http://www.argentarchives.org/node/16415http://www.argentarchives.org/node/16419Now lets get down to business.
Here is what we need to get.
Fireworks launchers both rocket and cluster.
more fireworks -never can have to many I do have about 20 or so diffrent ones.
Food, I will send a bunch of food to whoever wants to be i charge of serving for the banquet in the Gallows End. Ilron?
Drink-I have some to send although it might be nice for those who might have some more unique stuff to send it as well. Who will be in charge of serving drinks at the banquet and Gala?
Costume Contest, I will collect for this. Is there any donations of money or prizes that people might want to give in to go towards this?
Judges - Ilron and me perhaps will judge the costume contest? As far as passing on the titles Ilron you will have the title of Lord of Shadow to pass on and I will have Queen of darkness, these titles are for forsaken so chose a forsaken to give this to at the end of the event, I will poke you when it will be time to announce it.
Pantomime - I will famr up some lowlevel gear as costumes for this. If anyone else has anything cool, perhaps the wooden sword for a hero type of something? Stuff like that. The Dalaran robe if there is an evil wizard. Tzur I am trusting you will let us know what you will need.
Actors - We will need actors! Please please please look for some!

Can I get any response on this?
Morbium - October 24, 2008 12:19 AM (GMT)
Can't really help a lot with the things you posted, but with the scourge running rampant, wouldn't it be better to find a more private location?
Guest - October 24, 2008 04:04 PM (GMT)
There is an argent healer luckily at the gates, the problem is no matter where we go in the game if the event is advertised there will be people who will say LoL lets go zombie attack. Since you keep your level and such no where will be safe. Again although I suppose that is the point of the scourge event. We will have plenty of people on hand to cure any that come in infected.
So is anyone from brill going to help out with this other than Tzur?
Tzar'ai - October 24, 2008 04:32 PM (GMT)
Well, I'll be dragging half of them in to act various parts, and the other half I'll task to get costumes and refreshments. So yes. =P
By the way, it might be good if we can get some zombies for the first scene of the panto. Player zombies, obviously, so that they won't attack half way through. And some guards on hand in case they DO.
