7.Outward Appearance.

Anullus' face is a grim skull, covered in a thin membrane of embalmed leathery skin. His deep cavernous eye sockets contain a ghostly light than burns blue and fierce, glowing brighter or dimmer depending on his mood. His lower jaw is completely absent, leaving his long serpentine tongue hanging in the air, snaking around seemingly of its own accord. Even without a mouth Anullus has a voice, a deep robust voice that echoes like a sound crossing a great empty cavern. His voice carries far and is clearly heard, even in loud environments; his words seem to hang in the air, fading away shortly after he has spoken.

His movements are odd and un-natural, disjointed like a puppet or marionette, his bones clicking and snapping as he moves. His head often lulls to one side. His movements seem somewhat slow and awkward, however they are always precise. Despite this "awkward" demeanour he's been seen to move with sudden startling bursts of speed when the need arises.

Anullus wears a thick set of priestly robes, the heavy material of which seems aged, but well kept. The buttons and bindings too are aged and no longer gleam, in any light. He carries with him a large staff and many other trinkets, baubles, scrolls and seals about his person. Always at his side attached to his robes by a thick metal chain, is a large leather bound book, on the front of which a "screaming" skull is embossed in metal.

Anullus is always surrounded by a thick aura of shadow, a roiling inky darkness which seems to seep up through his skin and dissipate into the air, this aura makes him seem somewhat transparent and ethereal.

Most forsaken find being around Anullus gives them a sense of peace and tranquillity, while living creatures are often uneasy and skittish.

8.Background.

After working for a long time as a missionary, travelling Outland and many battlefields, the Church of Shadows finally has a new task for Anullus. In the north the movements of the scourge can be felt, with the scourge comes the fear of mindless servitude. The Church has decided to act now, in order to safeguard the newly dead. To protect them from mindless oblivion and place them upon the path to Shadowy transcendence, before the Scourge can attack again, Anullus has been assigned to set up a mission in Brill, where those in need of spiritual guidance may come for solace.
