8.Background.
Once a librarian in the Stormwind archives he was of little mention. He often stayed for hours after dark, or occasionally whole nights, within the library researching. He had a hunger for knowledge that overode any sense of patriotism. When calls went out for recruits for the army he stayed hidden with his books. It was only after he ran out, having read most of the library's contents, that he found he needed more. He moved around libraries, learning new things until his search brought him to the plaguelands. During his quest for a particularly rare book he encountered a necromancer and an abomination. Before the necromancer could stop it, the lumbering horror crushed the librarian's skull.
He awoke as a scourge, his skull repaired by a metal plate. However he found himself not mindless. He had retained his sense of self but could not resist the call of the Lich King. He joined the Scourge forces but was brought down in a battle within the plaguelands. He died for a second time.
Many months later, after the breaking free of the forsaken he awoke once more. His willpower and need for knowledge restored when a gnome's gadgets accidentally charged the plate in his head. He slaughtered the gnome in a rage and vanished.
He has recently reappeared, seemingly sane. Does anyone remember the dull librarian from Stormwind? Doubtful.
