As I said in the guidelines, we do not have too strict
boundaries here; we may deal from baroque pre-romantic
up to modern organs/ music that share something with the romantic period.
In this context Dupré -and Demessieux- should feel at home here.
To me Dupré was a post-romantic as a composer, while already
a "neo-classic" in his writings.
I was quite surprised to hear his music on an Holtkamp organ, which
worked surprisingly well in this music, despite being a representative
of the first "Orgelbewegte" builder in the United States.
So let us be rather "cool" with the boundaries.
Pierre Lauwers.
Hi acc,
I wholeheartedly concur with your assessment of Stephen Tharp. That man can play!!!
In regards to the complete Jeanne Demessieux organ works, I know that a volume has been recorded at St. Ouen. Has there been a previous release of Tharp playing Demessieux?
Cheers,
Giovanni
Acc,
Thank you kind sir for the info on Vol. 1 of Demessieux - I really appreciate it.
Cheers,
Giovanni :)
