Title: "The religious are gullible."
_F0r_7l-l3_W!n_ - August 10, 2007 08:26 PM (GMT)
Says a 18-yearold girl on a video on Youtube entitle "Gullible isn't in the dictionary".
She states that athiests are the only rational people, putting reason first instead of just believing in something. But what if a religious person researched himself and concluded that religion was the better route to take? Does that make him irrational?
I believe that most of her states are false, hypocritical, and contradictary.
What are your thoughts?

That's kind of closed-minded.
It's this kind of attitude (the attitude of "this is right, everything else is wrong") that gets America into wars.
The fact that Americans usually think their opinions are right and everyone else's are wrong is sad. :/ I'm American. I feel sad for this country.

I, on the other hand am a Canadian, I just need to get drunk and say "eh" a lot.
But seriously, it is really close minded. I mean I'm not religious but I think that people have chosen the right choice in having religion. I would hate to be the girl who posted this because as soon as people know who she is she'll get sued so much. She needs to learn that everyone has their own opinion.

Actually, people already know who she is because she gave out her name. But might I ask why she would get sued? In no manner can she get sued. She'd win the case everytime. Like you said, people have a right to their opinion. Of course her opinion is dumb, hypocritical, and wrong - but she has a right to it.

It's been said before. This is closed minded and extremely stupid. She just believes she's right and whatever she disagrees with is wrong. I'm not an extreme religious but I definately believe in some higher power. I'm a christian myself, but I'm open to other ideas. My point is that I believe that something had to of created everything in the beginning. However, since I have no proof I'm open to everyone elses views on it and this girl should be, too. Even if she doesn't believe in God(s) or religion.
To sum up my rant that kind of seems pointless: She needs to accept others' ideas and I personally believe there is a God/Gods but I'm open to others' ideas due to lack of proof and not lack of faith.

But then again, is this not an opinion on her behalf. She should be respected of that and shouldn't be told to shutup. She has every right to make a complete dick out of herself. Sure, we might think she is stupid, but some of her ideas make sense as well, though the majority should be thrown out. I agree with some of the statements as to that if you do not try things, and find out for yourself - you are gullible and irrational because all you are doing is believing in something someone told you to believe in.
Cupac82 - August 15, 2007 07:00 PM (GMT)
How CAN you find out for yourself, though? I don't want to preach or anything and I'm not an extreme Christian or anything. I even have doubts of my own about God. But just due to lack of proof athiests believe that there is no greater being? I mean what sounds more realistic? Something creating everything or everything coming from a random explosion from nowhere? Really think about that. Plus I'd much rather believe that I'd go somewhere great after death than just decay. Call it denial if you want to but I'd prefer that. (Even if there isn't "Heaven" I wouldn't be aware I'm dead since nothing happens to me so I guess it wouldn't be bad at all.) Lastly I just want to ask WHY do athiests go around insulting religious people like they do. I'm not saying any religion is 100% full of people tolerant to other religions but it seems athiests just go full out insulting us on how stupid, gullible, irrational, illogical, or whatever else, we are. Not many Christians (other other religions) go public and say "Well you don't believe in God or anything so screw you." I'm not saying ALL athiests are bad. I mean show me one who can understand others' views while still sticking to their own and only argueing them in friendly debate then sure I'm fine but they believe we're so terrible for being "stupid" as they say and I grew up to believe this so shut up.

First off, I found this as flamming. "so shut up"? In no way did I EVER speak to you in that manner and I do not think I deserve such disrespect. I suggest lowering your tone and reviewing your replies to make sure they are not offensive.
Yes, how can you find out for yourself. You yourself are saying that there are no facts or even possible evidence of your religion. In a way, you are attacking your own. Have you even checked to see if there was evidence? I do believe many people have written reports on possible evidence. How about you go out, find them, read them, and come back to me to defend your side instead of attacking it.
What are you trying to say? That athiests can't have their beliefs? You say we attack you on your beliefs but you are saying "due to lack of evidence athiests don't believe in a greater being" I reply to that with "Damn straight". How the hell are you going to say that I have to believe in a greater being simply because you do?
What sounds more realistic is some weird bacteria and substances in space that have been their for a google of years created a reaction which created an explosion throughout the universe. You say that doesn't sound more realistic than "Out of nowhere he created everything". The Bible basically says humans are the highest beings and they are God's wonderful works. But what about everything else in the universe. Are you saying that God picked such imperfect beings instead of anything else? Why didn't he tell us? Hmm? Reality tells me that I'd rather believe in what I think is more realistic than just "magic happened".
How are you going to tell me that that's ALL what athiests do? In no way is that what all athiests do. That's a minor 5-10% of them. That's like saying all Christians want to burn homosexuals. Yes, there are Christians like that:
God hates fagsBut you do not see many saying that you are doing that. But that is pretty much what you are doing. Labeling all athiests.
A lot more Christians go out on the media and protest retarded things than athiests. Look at the whole gay marriage thing. So be quiet.
You want me to show you one? You're looking at them. You say you want to meet one that is tolerant and can have a nice debate....how about you start being tolerant to other beliefs instead telling me to shut up. That is not a friendly debate, that is called flamming. You are not going to find someone to have a nice debate with unless you can debate yourself.
Finally, that is one point I'd like to make. If you believe only what you were taught to believe, your gullible and irrational. If your parents taught you to grow up to hate other races such as back in the day, would you want to believe that? I'd think you would go out and find out for yourself if that was the smartest move.
Quit acting so childish.
Cupac82 - August 17, 2007 08:44 PM (GMT)
I wasn't telling you to shut up and I'm really sorry if you took it that way. I was basically saying people like that that just don't want to hear other peoples' opinions because it condradicts their own.
Well the only possible evidence is the bible. I won't defend Christianity to the death because I have my own doubts. I admit we can't prove much other than a book that tells us it happened.
My problem with BOTH theories is that how did it start. Rather than skipping through this actually think about it. How could it all begin? How did the supposed nothing that became the universe come into being. There isn't an explanation for how God was created either so I can't really tell you that but if he's "almighty" and everything it's easier to believe than whatever could have created the Big Bang. Also don't call it magic it makes it sound like Houdini. I don't know what to call it but it makes the events in the bible seem comical by saying it's magic.
And I said no religion is completely tolerant. I hate christians like that. I know somebody close to me who is a homosexual and I would never wish something like that upon them. But I'm just saying from my experiences it seems like many athiests go over the edge on how they think we're wrong. Why do they care if we're wrong? If they truly believe it let us be and laugh behind our backs where it doesn't piss us off.
In response to your last statement, nobody is rational and capable of logical thinking at birth to age....6 or so. They don't even wonder or care much about it. I have my doubts now that I won't get into explaining now but it's difficult wondering these things.
Lastly I just want to apologize if I offended you, which I probably did. I didn't mean to label an entire group and when I said shut up I was meaning to those who are intolerant such as the girl on youtube.

Appology accepted. True, true - but labeling a whole group like that simply because that's what you have seen is wrong. I have seen both the best and the worst of Christians, but you do not hear me slapping an intolerant sticker on their heads.

In reality, my friend, the bible is not evidence. In no way is it. It's just a book written by man, you can't call that 'evidence'.
Actually, there is more proof than just the bible, or so says studys. There are MANY people that spend their time finding evidence to back the bible, some find it. If you base your whole life on a book, is that no better than literally worshipping Harry Potter and practicing black magic as a cult because of J.K. Rowling? No.

You want to know where it all came through the theory of the Big Bang?
The Big Bang TheoryIt simply goes as to what the Christians believe. God was always there. In reality, time does not exist. So in essence, God himself was there since it began, but it never did. As so with the big bang theory, space was always there, and it only happened untill temperature in space began to rise and it began to become more dense. Then it pretty much combusted into all these galaxies.

If you base it off your own experiences, you are no better than the intolerant people out there. Just because you based something off of what you saw, doesn't mean that's what everyone is like.

This one made me laugh. Those are called your toddler years, not your child years. Children are from around 8-11/12, and when you say someone is acting childish it means "You are hussing a fit that you can't back up and you are only making yourself look bad by not acting in a calmer fashion" etc. Also, I believe that toddlers have a more rational thought than most adults. Think about that.

As much as you want her to shutup, you are trying to kill her right to freedom of speach. When the day comes that someone can't even voice their opinions on youtube, I will kill my self.
