Title: Favorite Video Game Series
Cupac82 - August 8, 2007 07:25 PM (GMT)
What is your favorite video game series. Mario, Metroid, Halo, Zelda, Pokemon, Final Fantasy, or whatever.
Mine is the Zelda games. They are so fun and one of the few games that make you think some. Plus the fighting in those games is so much fun, especially the boss fights. The plot in each of them is fantastic as well.
Other than that I love the Prince of Persia games. There's only 3 of them (although I've heard rumors of a fourth in production) but each one is a masterpiece. No other game is like it. Most of it are these great acrobatic stunts the prince does and you have to make your way through all these obstacles and when you get the occasional fight it is awesome because of all the different combos you can do to kill enemies. Also the plot is spectacular and you think the games about to end 20 different times but each time theres a different twist.
Anyways what is your favorite gaming series?

Tales game rule.
'Nuff said.

I'm stuck between two. The Halo series has good story lines, multiplayer, and it has difficulty settings. The zelda series has good story lines, good boss battles though it doesn't have difficulty settings. So I'm going with Halo.

FF is by far the ultimate.

I think the Zelda series is a bit weak besides Ocarina of Time and A Link to the Past.
How could you forget Sonic? Sonic is by far better than Mario.
Oh no, did I start controversy?

These games were the first to come to mind as the most popular/best selling games out there. Sonic games don't sell near as much as these and I didn't consider them to be one of the most popular.
I considered Sonic along with Madden. Also how are Wind Waker and Twilight Princess weak? They are great games and both among some of the most entertaining I've ever played.
I love the Sonic Adventure games but other than that none of the others' storylines are that great (in my opinion) and most of it seems to be running through the levels. In the series' defense I haven't played the 2006 Sonic the Hedgehog and hear it's really good. However, I just don't find the old PC side scrollers fun at all and Sonic Heroes is basically, as I said earlier, simply running through levels. Sonic Riders is only fun in multiplayer to me.
Anyways, sorry to go into all that. I'm not bashing the Sonic series because some of them are the most memorable games I've ever played. I'm just saying why it could be weaker than Zelda and why I didn't put them in the poll.

Favorite, not popular. Oh, and Sonic was popular when it came out on the Genesis/Mega Drive.
Boo hoo, I thought Wind Waker was crap. Open world...not much to do. Oh yeah, TP got very stale after the second part from what I've heard.
You said Sonic could be weaker. Yeah, and all you do in Zelda is repeat the same puzzles over and over.
Sonic was designed for the purpose of speed, not story.
Oh no, I've started controversy because of my gaming opinion.
Learn your video game history folks.
Cupac82 - August 28, 2007 01:23 AM (GMT)
Overreacting a little?
I won't go repeating everything I've already said, but I told you I was only explaining why I didn't pick Sonic in these. I didn't want to have about 15 different options, I just chose what came to me. You could have simply chosen other and said Sonic.
As for what else I said. I didn't say Zelda was any better than Sonic, even though in my opinion it is. I was defending that it wasn't a weak series. Yes, Zelda is extremely repetitive and every game basically goes by the same formula, but each one is very entertaining. Also, play TP before you jump to conclusions about it. I actually found that it was rather dull in the beginning and got really good from the middle and close to the end (the very end of it wasn't great).
It's just insulting that you say things like "Boo hoo", "Oh no, I've started controversy", and "Learn your game history folks" when I wasn't starting a debate at all. So how is it a lack of knowing game history from anything I said before???
EDIT: Just an afterthought after reading your post: What did you mean by "favorite, not popular"? If you mean I put my favorites in the poll than you're definately wrong. The only ones I like are Zelda and Mario. Halo is ok but I either hate or have never played any of the others.

You understood nothing I said.
Cupac82 - August 29, 2007 12:44 AM (GMT)
Then explain rather then just tell me I misunderstood.
I don't think it's hard to misinterperate what you said. Here's basically what I gathered from it:
1. "Favorite, not popular" could actually mean a few things, but I'm pretty sure you were saying I chose favorites for the poll options rather than most popular.
2. You said Wind Waker was crap and that you heard TP was bad. Pretty much just insulting Zelda and saying it's not a very good game series.
3. Sonic wasn't made for a story. Well mario wasn't really either, but I think the Paper Mario games and Super Mario Sunshine have pretty good storylines. Other than characters the storyline and plot make the game for me. So no matter what it was made for doesn't mean I don't find the storylines boring.
4. Then you ended it once again taking a jab at people and trying to insult me by being sarcastic and saying "Oh no, I've started controversy because of my gaming opinion" and "Learn your video game history folks".
Alex - August 29, 2007 01:34 AM (GMT)
1. I meant that you chose popular, not the overall favorite of people (you know what I mean).
2. I don't like Zelda. So what.
3. Read a book.
4. Life

Prince of Persia.
Metroid.
Thats it.
.DK. - September 11, 2007 10:22 AM (GMT)
The LoZ series.
The Metroid series.
The Mario platformer series.
The Street Fighter series.
The GTA series.
They're the main ones that have yet to majorly disappoint me. Others I think are great, but have had a few let downs, or are just not quite "perfect".
Sonic the Hedgehog (1,2,3,CD)
Starfox (Snes, '64)
Metal Gear Solid (1,2,3)
Donkey Kong (Country 1,2,3,'64,DKJB)
Wario Land (1,2,3,4)
