Title: Faction forums up!
musical zombie. - August 20, 2007 03:04 PM (GMT)
I've the faction forums up. Currently, only Super Moderators, Administrators, and those of factions (none yet) can see them. This being said, I need a test written up, because I'm currently working on a project that may involve the development of a 2d game, who knows. Someone, if you have an idea of what to do, write me up a test and pm me it!
Remember to keep in mind that the questions have to be completely universal, meaning that for each question there should be FOUR DIFFERENT ANSWERS for the FOUR DIFFERENT FACTIONS:
Fire: active, risky, rash, brave
Water: calm, wise, level-headed
Air: laid-back, lazy, overly-calm, uncaring
Earth: persevering, strong-headed, stubborn
: ) If I get multiple tests, I'll see which one MOST properly fulfills the requirements and you will get a special mention in the Base Camp.

Why I not see factions? I'm a Super Mod, but for some reason I can't see the faction forums.
EDIT: It looks like I found a bug. Someone messed up the permission masks for some reason, and now Super Mods use the Member Forums Mask, hence Super Mods can't see the factions or the Staff Only area. However, when I changed the Super Mod user group to use the Super Mod forum mask the only thing I could see was the factions.
I think I might be able to fix this however.
EDIT again: I fixed the problem. If an Admin wants to go over the changes, all I did was edit the Super Mod forum permission mask to have access to all the forums instead of just the factions, as it was before, and then edited the Super Mod user group to use that mask instead of the Member forum permission mask.

Sounds good Uber Lysis. Good problem solving.

Thank you. By the way, I'm working on some faction questions right now. How many questions do you think there should be? I was thinking five.
Forseti - August 20, 2007 10:25 PM (GMT)
Probably about that. Though you need to make sure how to deal with it if it's a four way tie.
Lysis - August 20, 2007 10:35 PM (GMT)
With five questions there can't be a four way tie. You could have ABCDA, or ABCDB, but it would never be four way.

I sent one in a few hours ago, but I had to hazard a guess at how many questions I should write, which after about 20 seconds of mental debate, was three. Of course, with an odd number like three, it not only eliminates the possibility of answers that are tied by leaning towards particularly facitons, but also makes the test easier (or faster, atleast) to grade than one with five questions.
Five's got obvious advantages too, though. I'd say that's a tough decision.
Of course, I think it would make more sense to combine elements of all the best questions you get instead of just picking one set from one person.

Well, since I didn't see this, Lysis, after you're done, send them to me. I've already seen Shmeh's, and I really like his, and if yours is good too I'll pick selective questions from each and make a great test.
Mr. Zombie. - August 22, 2007 08:49 PM (GMT)
Okie, I'll make one.
Sheesh, I leave for a couple days and I come back and factions are already up.
Lysis - August 22, 2007 09:22 PM (GMT)
Bah, I didn't get very far on writing my questions. I got writer's block to soon. Since you already got Shmeh's, I'll just send you what I got.

I finished mine and sent it. Does anyone want to read it? It's funny.

Sure, I'll read 'em. You can PM them to me or whatever.

I sent you them. They are not really multiple choice, that makes it easier and better to judge someones personality. I believe it is pure awesomeness, as do all of my things, posts, etc.

Mine weren't multiple choice either. I think it's much better that way.

I have a simple question...does anyone think that 4 factions is a bit much? For the lack of members, and factions being a basis for forming friendships with members of your similar personality, 4 factions is a bit much.
Hmmmm...
Shmeh - August 23, 2007 12:25 AM (GMT)
It's basically the same issue I brought up with the staff. It seems two factions would be sufficient at this point.
musical zombie. - August 23, 2007 01:14 AM (GMT)
Hmmmm.
Well. I probably could lessen it to three factions. I just don't want it to seem like we're copying ZU.
Shmeh - August 23, 2007 01:31 AM (GMT)
Which, along with our current lack of members, is why I suggested two.
Lysis - August 23, 2007 01:46 AM (GMT)
I think perhaps we shouldn't establish factions at all until we have a sufficient number of active members. At this point we don't truly have enough members to efficiently fill one faction, let alone four.

They're not in use yet, so don't you guys worry. : )
