Title: Jealousy

Jealousy

For so long
Too long
I have watched my friend
Courth the woman
I had fallen so far for
For all this time
Too much time
I have stood by
Watching
Wishing
Dreaming
Staying silent
Because I knew
They were happy
And I was glad for them,
Or, at least,
I thought I was
But, I couldn’t tell
What was inside my heart
It was small to start
Undetected
A small bead
That formed
Deep inside
Filled with unimaginable heat
Burning darkly
With a malicious red glow
Each and every time
I saw them together
Happy and carefree
That bead grew
Filling me more and more
Straight to the brink and brim
A glowing
White hot
Molten substance
Burning me up
From inside out
To a hollow shell of myself
Before it flows
Into a crucible
Becoming a fiery blade
That pierces my heart
Twisting painfully
Each time I see them
Together
Fiery thoughts
Of violence
Anger
Hatred
Betrayal
Burn a blinding path
Through my mind
Caught in the irrational grasp
Of jealousy.
